It's the way the jail is run so yes the sheriff and the people who are in charge of daily operations are fully responsible but I will leave everyone with this thought if you've never been in jail yourself don't talk about the people who are in jail Fulton county jail is one of the top five worse places to be

There was a question posed to Sheriff labat in an interview
Question: Why don't you walk your own jail.
Labat: It's not my job it's the chief jailer job. My job is to make sure the court is safe..
How can you be sheriff and not oversee operations at your jail?
The problem is Labat. it is your job to walk your jail to make sure things are getting done, n it's safe.

State makes you waive your right to a speedy trial. Or if you don't they will sign them away for you. I was in Duval County, FL for 3 years all because my public pretender did just that.....

You have a right to a speedy trial up to 180 days, unless you waive that right, then you end up sitting in the county jail 10 + years like I have also seen.

@@markinman8156 lol your right, only problem is, some states, like Florida for example don't have a statues of limitations for a bunch of crimes. Yet there is only no statute of limitations on crimes for 1st degree felony crimes or crimes that are Punishable By life or 30 years.
But like I said Florida, has many of those, for example you break into a car and steal someone's gun. That is called Armed Burglary of an unoccupied conveyance, which carries a 10 year minimum mandatory and is also punishable by life.

I've had friends who spent time in Rice Street. If you dont have someone on the outside actively keeping tabs on you, they can absolutely "lose" you in the system. I know a guy who spent 4 months there when he was supposed to bond out the next day. Fulton County said they had no record of him being there at all. It was only by accident the discovered he was still there months after he bonded out. Plus the rats, the violence, 10 men to a 2 man cell. Its absurd. Atlanta is utterly corrupt.

All of that is true but let’s talk about some of the core; the cause of high crime rates. What is the influence and why is it so rapid? Also who are the officials in office (Judges). I think it’s all a domino effect. There is cause and effect for everything and I think all though your points are valid and are all relevant, I think it runs deeper than that. This is just some of my views on this issue. Lastly, there is an overwhelming population of people with mental illness that don’t need to be in jail but in a medical hospital for help however those hospitals are over crowded like the jails. Why is mental health growing at such a rapid pace?

Having watched all of the interviews, I have to say that the problem is 1) a lack of desire to actually fund a new jail, 2) failure to provide an appropriate level funding for an adequate number of prosecutors, defenders, investigators and support staff, 3) failure to fund enough judges and support staff, 4) failure to provide enough funding to support the demands placed on the state crime lab to process evidence. As usual, the politicians want to scream about crime, but they don't want to solve it, nor do they want to properly deal with what it takes to run a criminal justice system. So I guess the commissioner was right -- it is the voters fault -- for failing to demand that the governor, legislature and county commission actually spend what is required to administer justice in Fulton County. They are fooling themselves if they think they can fix this problem without spending a significant amount of $$$ -- probably about 1.3 billion. The price keeps going up every time they kick the can down the road. Of course, if the US DOJ gets involved or a US Federal Judge steps in, they will be forced to spend the money anyway.

I'm still at the beginning of this video and I am appalled, if you live in Georgia and you see this jail this should be a deterrent, also the fact that you may spend 13 years in a jail before you get to your case..
There's something very much wrong with this system of Georgia, I equated to Black officials who don't give a damn about their own community or the people that are incarcerated only to actually screw up their lives even more special if you found not guilty what do you get after that nothing..
Well that's what happens when you have too many African-Americans controlling the narrative for their own people then you really get a dysfunctional county I wouldn't live in Georgia if you paid me .. proud New Yorker...

I was on the medical floor after breaking my wrist due to safety and security being nonexistent and seen multiple come and go getting stabbed with Chucky type stitches on they faces its a nightmare and definitely will scar you for life if you spend more than 14 days atp
