I'm a guitarist and I have gotten quite a bit more knowledgeable in quarrintine but I have always wanted to play a harp.
But 50 years of experience, playing on the road and partying and I can't breathe very well. Oh well, I really had a lot of.....
Two minutes past one in the morning and an overwhelming urge to learn the blues on a harmonica overtook me.
Never wanted a harmonica, never mind so desperately, until this point in my life.
Five minutes, I thought, yeah, right?!

Hi Max. I am 65 years old and five months playing with the Harmonica. After many hours of videos, I must say that this is the best of all to start learning. I have seen many tutorial videos on TH-cam, of all levels and extensions, and this video (first and second part) of just a few minutes brings much more. Without a doubt, short videos are an original idea that you should continue to develop. Congratulations teacher, it's a great job. Keep producing more, the apprentices will thank you.

He may be a blue's harp player.........So am I.......all my life. Started at age 6, I'm 56 now, and play blues harp/guitar/singer/stage performer for many years. That "tape over the holes" is BULLSHIT. See my main comment above where I explain it completely. And leave it to an Englishman to do things ass backwards.

Watched plenty of "easy learning in 5 minutes" but none were as easy and slow like this video. Thanks for being descriptive and slow. As a beginner I need slow teaching

I have a question ( hopefully not too stupid... ) If a song is in a minor key, can you play accompaniment in a major key ? Or do you need a minor key harmonica ?
Good question Terry. I'm guessing that you want play a minor Blues on, say, a 'C' Harp. It's called 3rd Position playing. You start on 4 Draw that will give you a minor scale using all notes up to 7 Blow. 4draw + 5d + 6d gives you a D m=nor chord. For the next [ 4] Chord just play from 2d but bend 3d. The last chord? Just play up and down from 6 draw.Join Max's Blues Club for more and email me from there if you need to. Yours Max

ATTENTION ANYONE WHO READS THE COMMENTS BELOW. Over 2 months ago, I posted an original comment here, that everyone can still see below. Being an accomplished ( and now retired ) professional guitarist/singer/blues harmonica player myself for many many years, I simply stated that I learned BEGINNING harmonica all by myself, and I didn't need to "tape the holes". I went on to playing blues harp, and professionally gigging all over central Florida, playing guitar and singing in several bands, even down to acoustic duo's, and even solo. I played a lot of blues harp at every gig. So I believe my OPINION holds water, but it is only my OPINION. And then, 2 months ago, I received A VICIOUS, NASTY ATTACK by some youtube TROLL by the name of "homesick clifford". He called me nasty names & leveled all manner of false accusations against me, cussing up a storm. And I rightfully defended myself. That was that........or so I thought: Here it is May 1st 2018, and he started his attacks on me AGAIN......RIGHT HERE IN THE COMMENTS, OUT OF THE BLUE. He also sent a crazy message to another viewer within the same thread who had AGREED with my opinion in a response to me here. But that message to him was "ATTACKING ME". Talk about WEIRD & CRAZY. He posted just today, a total of 3 different attacks against me. But NOW this "homesick clifford" character has ERASED THEM ALL. I have decided to LEAVE UP all of my responses to HIS attacks against me. The reason is you can see how many times he attacked me, judging all of my responses TO HIM: "homesick clifford". It's a crying shame so many of us have to be hounded & pestered by sick, evil TROLLS who like to play nasty games. And in true coward fashion, he erased them. GOOD. But I'm leaving my responses to that evil prick posted just as they are. Thank you for your time.
Well Mr Truth, firstly, using any method to get people playing is high on my learning list. Covering those holes has enabled many without musical knowledge to be able to play instantly. The look on their faces is priceless! Its great that you've gathered all that experience playing and that you've taught yourself [ as I also did ]. Secondly, its obvious that our friend has some life issues that perhaps cloud his judgement. My attitude is, be thankful we don't have those issues and also that music may help him a little in dealing with life. Yours Max
