apple won’t drop the stem design, it’s just too good and too iconic, the bean form is often easier to fall out of ear and touch controls are worse cause they activate when you try to push it into your ear
I hate the stem, they really could provide a version without it for other types of people. Instead the have Beats buds, which don't have as good tracking feature while being owned by the same company...

If the update to AirPods Max was USB-C only, I don't see why they wouldn't have just released it last year along with the AirPods Pro 2 USB-C refresh. I think the rumors are wrong. I can't see any world where Apple releases their most premium pair of headphones without an H2 chip. It's a major selling point for the AirPods Pro 2, especially with Adaptive Transparency which is an incredible feature. It would be extremely unlike Apple to use a 4 year old chip in their most premium model of anything. Major disappointment if the rumors are true.
I think they will since airpods pro 2 already support lossless with vision pro. So clearly the H2 chip is capable of processing lossless audio. Maybe they'll only enable it with wired connection, which is understandable and fine by me.
I just got the Bose QC Ultra and I'm debating whether I return them and wait for the APM2... decisions 😭 I currently own the Bose QC Ultra and the B&W Px8 McLaren Edition. I have owned the XM5 (headphones and earbuds), the APMS in space grey and in green), the XM3/4, the Skullcandy Crusher Evo, and practically almost all of the AirPods generations there are. I have also tried Nothing earbuds as well.

I bought a pair of Airpods pro 2 with USBC because I wanted to see if I could get use to the ear tips, but they gave me an ear ake after I was wearing them for like 2 or 3 hours at a time with the medium ear tips, so I ended returning them after 4 days. I didn’t try a smaller size ear tip, so I don’t know if its just the medium size thats the problem or if ear tips just don’t work with my ears. I hope the airpods 4s with speaker case don’t come with silicone ear tips because I really like the case on the Airpods pro 2s and it would be nice to have it on a pair of airpods with out the ear tips even if the ANC isn’t that goods like on the galaxy buds live.

However it is a stupid strategy because they will not be able to keep up with it and consumers will be tired and finally they will give up. It could feature cellular connectivity and AI-enabled voice control, so we could leave our phones and all those tiktoks and reels at home and have our digital detox. Because taking pictures matters, while carrying a 6-7'' screen is not. So basically voice calls, messaging and pics in addition to classic audio features, while anything more than that goes to iPhone and iPad.
Yeah had the same problem with theairpods pro 2 with USBC. Couldn’t wear them for a long period of time because my ears would start to hurt afterwards.

The main things for me on the Max,s will be USB C for less cables on my desk (I use usb `c' Logitech keyboard & mouse for my Mac), a way to replace the support net as I have needed to add as silicon replacement for mine. Price i'm happy with because if its lowered then we will be losing quality, I dont care for the switch off function because reality is it barely drains enough that a few mins charge cannot rectify anyway and who needs another button with potential to break. The Travel case cover would be a nice but in reality I think ive only taken them out of my house twice in three years as so much easier to take my AirPods pro's anyway.
@AppleTrack -Theory here about the pro 4 models-there is some really crazy cool battery tech coming out from a Dutch company improving lithium ion batteries with silicon anodes instead of graphite that is boasting some next gen stats and they were pretty close lipped about which consumer market they were starting out producing for (they stated not cell phones or laptops etc. but the vibe was “we have a contract in place with a client and we can’t talk about it”. Long story short I could see them waiting for this tech to be able to do stemless.
I love the design of the og AirPods. I think if they copied the 3’s design, but made them a little bit smaller, I’d be sold. Cause the threes don’t perfectly fit in my ears, and the 2nd gen are much more comfortable for sleeping

Visually I’ve always loved how the AirPods Max look. Features, not so much. Very dated compared to the AirPods Pro but I would purchase a pair if they didn’t cost as much and if they updated the features like usb-c water/sweat/dust resistant and included something like the h2 or even put a h3 chip inside just to make them a little more future proof

What happened to Lossless support? I remember reading that Apple had managed up to 20 bit 48Khz Lossless via Wireless.

Should be a AirPod max lite where it’s more affordable and the regular version definitely should get a 2nd gen refresh just like the AirPods Pro’s with new specs, features and revamps.
I just wish that they would take the AirPods or the AirPod pros and make them waterproof. Every other company has it that you can bring your earbuds into the swimming pool. I just wish they would go waterproof. Is there any word on that yet or do I still have to wait?😂😂

If they ditch the stem on the AirPods Pro’s then it’ll be a huge downgrade. It’ll be like making an iPhone thinner at the expense of battery life, cameras etc. it’s got Jony Ive vibes.

It could feature cellular connectivity and AI-enabled voice control, so we could leave our phones and all those tiktoks and reels at home and have our digital detox.
I would even go further and tweak the exterior of airpods case to look like a miniature camera having a small screen on one side and a lens on another. Because taking pictures matters, while carrying a 6-7'' screen is not.
So basically voice calls, messaging and pics in addition to classic audio features, while anything more than that goes to iPhone and iPad.

Yeah had the same problem with theairpods pro 2 with USBC. Couldn’t wear them for a long period of time because my ears would start to hurt afterwards.

The main things for me on the Max,s will be USB C for less cables on my desk (I use usb `c' Logitech keyboard & mouse for my Mac), a way to replace the support net as I have needed to add as silicon replacement for mine. Price i'm happy with because if its lowered then we will be losing quality, I dont care for the switch off function because reality is it barely drains enough that a few mins charge cannot rectify anyway and who needs another button with potential to break. The Travel case cover would be a nice but in reality I think ive only taken them out of my house twice in three years as so much easier to take my AirPods pro's anyway.

If a 4-year update to the max airpods is it, they are a no buy for me. Lighter, updated chips, bluetooth update, better battery.
@AppleTrack -Theory here about the pro 4 models-there is some really crazy cool battery tech coming out from a Dutch company improving lithium ion batteries with silicon anodes instead of graphite that is boasting some next gen stats and they were pretty close lipped about which consumer market they were starting out producing for (they stated not cell phones or laptops etc. but the vibe was “we have a contract in place with a client and we can’t talk about it”. Long story short I could see them waiting for this tech to be able to do stemless.
i don’t know about anyone else, but i can’t use airpods with the tips, so if they’re going that route with airpods 4 then its a skip for me

I love the design of the og AirPods. I think if they copied the 3’s design, but made them a little bit smaller, I’d be sold. Cause the threes don’t perfectly fit in my ears, and the 2nd gen are much more comfortable for sleeping

Visually I’ve always loved how the AirPods Max look. Features, not so much. Very dated compared to the AirPods Pro but I would purchase a pair if they didn’t cost as much and if they updated the features like usb-c water/sweat/dust resistant and included something like the h2 or even put a h3 chip inside just to make them a little more future proof
I just bought a pair of XM5, they took way too long for a USB-C refresh, I’m done waiting. It’s a shame, but it is what it is.
Hopefully that’s not true about the Max 2s. Was hoping the update the H chip and put an “on/off” button too.
