It was hysterical when the initial reviews for Funny Girl came out and some reviews were like, “Up and comer Ramin Karimloo,” and the theater community were all like, “Up and what-er? He’s BEEN the moment!”
@Eristine Forever as an gleek and huge ramin fan since 2011. it feels like a dream. unforlantely he is only a celeb in the Phandom and the West end. he had 3 shows on broadway, still unknown. wth
Mr. Karimloo is perfect for this role; he's suave, debonair and funny. He handles the physicality of the role effortlessly. As for his co-star...I'm not generally a Lea Michele fan; but I agree that she is perfect for the role.
After I left the show I couldn't stop talking about the chemistry they have the playfulness and you can tell when they sometimes break character and are really laughing and enjoying themselves and the playfulness. It was great to see in person the whole cast seems so comfortable with Lea and she really seemed very appreciative and humble at least when I went.
it is supposed to be serious THEATRE. not glee. your entire description makes it seem pathetic. appreciative and humble. her girlhood dream fulfilled. i could sing those songs with more conviction and professionalism when i was a kid singing along with the cast album. it's amateur night at the truck stop bar and grill dinner theatre.

For the record, Ramin asked whether it was okay to show his personal responses to her and Murphy said fine - gave more substance to the relationship of Nick and Fanny. He introduced the jump from the floor to the couch and when asked if it was too much - he was told, no. I saw someone else comment on the show not being as tight as with Julie and Jamieson. Likely more boring and less intimate. Looks like you are as tight as the understudies.
@@Makeji exactly it’s supposed to be playful and fun, not tight I’m gonna say what I’ve always said and I pray you don’t hate me for saying it but there’s a reason Lee got more praised than Julie did and it looks like Mr. Karamel and I hope to have an unpronounced in his name Wright is getting the exact same as his understudy or better than his understudy for the exact same reason that Lee is getting better than her understudy because they’re not uptight those two were clearly uptight and that’s not what this supposed to be and as far as the person you responding to goes well they just sound snobby to me.
I'm loving her chemistry with Ramin as Nick. They are simply delightful. Lea is a shining star for that production. She elevates the whole thing. Bravo!
I think I read somewhere that Mr. Karimloo said that now that he’s working with Lee his character actually means some thing and he actually has something to work with.

I'm in love with them both! The fact Ramin has said the Nick/Fanny relationship is now really fulfilling and inspiring to play since Lea took over speaks volumes. They also sound gorgeous together - their duet Who Are You Now blew me away.
Exactly never mind the fact that now he actually has someone who can hold their own with him vocally and he can relax and focus on his work because he doesn’t have to worry about. Oh my God oh my God she doesn’t know what she’s doing and I’m sorry Julie was OK, but she still lacked what Lee brought to the show. Please don’t hate me for saying that.
I've seen all 3 ladies who play Fanny (excluding the understudy) and Lea was the one born to play this role. She was absolutely breathtaking. The fact she also happens to have the best chemistyr with Ramin as well is an added bonus.
Storm: Chemistry? This is musical play not a science lab. Beanie is one and a half times, NO, twice the woman Lea is! I mean Beanie is shorter but rounder and can’t sing. Easy to see why she was cast in the role!

what I love about this is that the live production is totally different art than the film production. as in this case, both broadway productions, the original with Streisand and the current one with Michele, are a completely different experience than the film, but they all stand tall as wonderful.

I saw both Beanie and Lea live in this show. No question: Lea is far superior and made the show amazing! Beanie was just okay. There was no chemistry between Fanny and Nick when Beanie played the role. None. Zip. I left the show really wanting more. After watching Lea as Fannie - just wow!! Lots more chemistry and emotion. Loved it with Lea! She 1000% earned a Tony for her performance (even if she’s not eligible).
just saw it and I WAS BLOWN AWAY. they started laughing towards the end for like 2 minutes straight and the audience was cackling. They just ended up kissing as a way to stop the giggles lol. such a great pair with real chemistry haha
I’ve seen Ramin perform this song with all three primary Broadway Fannys now - Beanie and Julie both live, and now Lea in this video. It’s funny how all three versions are quite different. I actually love all three versions and think each one has their merits. Ramin is, of course, spectacular in all of them, and each of the women bring their own unique take to the role. This is definitely one of my favourite scenes in the show! So funny and cute!

That alone gives away that this is Lea. But if you want to believe this is Julie and not Lea, go right ahead. I’m still confused at why people are acting like this is Lea’s first ever production, she’s a literal Broadway baby, this is not her first rodeo and she’s holding her own and doing a wonderful job!
I just did a back to back ware I listened to feldstine sing this and then lea and lord the differences are without a doubt noticeable, one, lea always sings the score at the normal speed ware as feldstine sings them so slow its unreal, 2, feldstine is off key ware lea never is and 3, is it just me or does it sound like you can actually hear the relief in ramin’s voice whin he’s singing with lea ware as with feldstine he sounds so board bless his soul.
I listened to Beanies version and then Lea. Am I imagining htings when I think that Beanies tempo seems off, sometimes it seems like they are slowing down so she can get all the words out. It often hits awkwardly. Lea and Ramin play of each other and its a much easier and more fun listen.
I get now what some said about the production aspect being quite lacking. That lighting mistake is too noticeable. The casts sure had to do amazing things to compensate.

It's such a shame the production values are so cheap looking. Her dress is a crime against seamstresses and fashions of the time. The sets and lighting are awful. Their performances are fantastic and deserved the proper production surrounding them.
Perhaps these were made to be flattering on Beanie, who is never going to be a fashion plate. But Barbra's Funny Girl was assisted by the most sumptuous costumes.
I used to do lighting for a much, much smaller theater- and I would have been fired for having to “chase” a lead with a spotlight. Geez. O.o There should’ve been a soft light on that bed anyway since she was talking about it in the song before she crossed to it.
Leah was the perfect Funny Girl since the times of Glee. I'll never understand why they didn't choose her first. Listen to Feldstein same duet and compare.
oddest thing considering she starred in 3 different tv comedies for 9 straight seasons on tv and was nominate for 2 golden globe and a emmy for lead actress in a comedy.

@@RLucas3000 My guess is that it’s an artistic choice, since the movie changed the final song from a reprise of don’t rain on my parade to my man to show Fanny’s heartbreak over the dissolution of her marriage rather than her singing about overcoming the pain of her divorce like in the stage show. In this version, she sings don’t rain on my parade at the end as a pep talk to herself that as heartbroken as she is, the show must go on and so will she. At least that’s my interpretation lol

My Man isn’t included in the Stage show unfortunately, just in the movie.

My guess is that it’s an artistic choice, since the movie changed the final song from a reprise of don’t rain on my parade to my man to show Fanny’s heartbreak over the dissolution of her marriage rather than her singing about overcoming the pain of her divorce like in the stage show. In this version, she sings don’t rain on my parade at the end as a pep talk to herself that as heartbroken as she is, the show must go on and so will she. At least that’s my interpretation lol
