If i told people which UMvC3 Legend i beat thanks to coaching no one would believe me unless he came out and admitted it himself. Granted. He was still Trying to make a name for himself/rising the ranks at the time. But very specific Advice helped me reverse 3-0 him. Because it gave me a solution i wasnt thinking of otherwise

Saying that coaching in physical sports is necessary vs thinking that it isn’t necessary for non physical sports simply because it is physically and mentally taxing is not a compelling reason for why there is a difference.

That wasn't the point! I don't think it's necessary in either, I was simply illustrating a stark difference as a reason that you can't say "Since physical sports have it, digital sports must as well"

@@Khalil_ yes, but like I said, this difference isn’t compelling. The effects of coaching in both video games and combat sports or other physical sports are virtually the same across the board coaches do the same job no matter what sport it is.

@@ggrogan That same job you are speaking of has more drastic of an impact on activities that are mostly mental/strategy like fighting games especially when we are talking about during said event.
Since coaching does not impact the physical side of things during the event, it stands to reason that activities that have a higher proportion of mental to physical would be impacted more by ingame/midset coaching than an activity that has more physical demand which cannot be assisted during

@@Khalil_ it just doesn’t, you didnt even give any examples or do a thought experiment, you just made a false statement

It's ok that you feel that way! Totally fine disagreeing, I just hope you recognize the irony in what you're saying! Was nice talking with you!

This brings the question to my mind after hearing the TWT Rule thing. Has there ever been a series where the rules changed every event?

Well technically yes like every fighting game haha. Since events aren't run by a single entity, there are usually slight variations in rulesets and whatnot from tournament to tournament. Smash for example has different stage lists depending on the TO. The newer installments have almost never had universally accepted rulesets
