మహా శ్రమలను అనుభవించిన నీతిమంతుని గూర్చి వివరించిన సందర్భంలో ఈ వాగ్దానం ఇవ్వబడింది. "నీతిమంతునికి కలుగు ఆపదలు అనేకములు. వాటి అన్నిటి నుండి యెహోవా వానిని విడిపించును." అతని చర్మంపై గాయాలైనా, కండలలో గాయాలైనా అంతకు మించి అతనికి ఏ ప్రమాదం సంభవించదు. "అతని యెముకలలో ఒక్కటైనా విరగదు."
బాధలు అనుభవిస్తున్న దేవుని బిడ్డకు ఇది ఎంతో ఆదరణ కలుగజేస్తుంది. అది "ఆదరణ" అని ఒప్పుకోడానికి నేను సాహసం చేస్తున్నాను. ఇప్పటి వరకు ఎన్నో లెక్కలేనన్ని శ్రమలు అనుభవించాను గాని వాటి మూలంగా అసలైన నష్టం ఏదీ నాకు కలగలేదు. నేను నా విశ్వాసాన్ని గాని, నా నిరీక్షణను గాని, నా ప్రేమను గాని కోల్పోలేదు. నిజమే, నా ఎముకలు అనే నా సత్ర్పవర్తనను, ఆశ్రమలు ఏమి చేయలేకపోయాయి సరికదా, వాటికి మరింత శక్తిని బలాన్ని సమకూర్చాయి.
ఆ శ్రమలు అనుభవించక ముందున్న దాని కంటే మరింత జ్ఞానం, అనుభవం, సహనం, స్థిరత్వం సంపాదించుకున్నాను. నాలో ఉన్న ఆనందం కూడా శ్రమల వలన ఏమీ నాశనం కాలేదు. అనారోగ్యం ద్వారా, ప్రియులను కోల్పోవడం ద్వారా, క్రుంగిపోవడం ద్వారా, నిష్కారణంగా అపనిందలు అనుభవించడం ద్వారా, వ్యతిరేకతలు ఎదుర్కోవడం ద్వారా నేను ఎన్నో దెబ్బలు తిన్నాను. అయితే ఆ దెబ్బలన్నీ స్వస్థపరచబడ్డాయి. ఇన్ని రకాల దెబ్బలు తిన్నప్పటికీ మాంసాన్ని చీల్చివేసేంతగా నా యెముకలు ఎప్పుడూ విరిగి పోలేదు. కనీసం నా యెముకలలో వెంట్రుకవాసి పగులుకూడా పడలేదు. అందుకు కారణం ఏమిటో తెలుసుకోవడం పెద్ద కష్టమైన పనికాదు. మనం ప్రభువులో నమ్మకం ఉంచితే ఆయన మన యెముకలను కాపాడతాడు.
నా హృదయమా, విచారించకు. నువ్వు పొడవబడుతున్నావు గాని, ఎముకలేవీ విరగవు. విపరీతమైన శ్రమలైనా ఓర్చుకో. భయానికి తలవంచకు.
