Restoration of a 70´s Omega Seamaster Quartz Watch

- Hi guys, today I show you a vintage Omega Seamaster from the 70s with caliber 1342, watch case, bracelet and crown completely original also the crystal is original and in good condition. The watch arrived not working although it had a new battery. Luckily none of the components were damaged and the watch started working again after the service. The dial is very worn, probably due to the sun which has consumed the black on the dial over the years. In the video I forgot to show the adjustment of the minute hand which is independent from the hour hand. In order to adjust the minutes it is necessary to press the crown for 5 seconds, release it, and press again, the minute hand will start to rotate automatically. Once you arrive at the desired time, release the pressure on the crown to instantly stop the minute hand.

Oooof! Look at that vintage quartz movement! The exposed traces are beautiful! It's so 80s, very much like an early 8 bit home computer. What a cool movement!
I'm familiar with the 1332 as I have a DeVille with that movement, but this one seems a little more rustic, more exposed and I love it for it.

Absolutely no water, just isopropyl alcohol.
Great video. I'm restoring the same watch and when I try and put the stem back in it just won't stay in. I pressed the red button to let it out which worked fine but putting it back in just won't work, did you have any trouble doing that? I've tried so many different combinations of pressing the button and not pressing the button and still no luck.
Probably the set lever has come out of its position and is blocking the stem which is unable to come out.

That's right, you have to remove the hands and the dial. For this reason I opened my channel, I try to help people like you who have no experience. Watch the video and do what I do.👍

Hey brother, loved the video. I’m trying to get into restoring vintage omega’s. What type of equipment can I use as a beginner on a budget? Also, how long does it take to learn how to and where each of the movement parts go. Do you follow a specific blueprint to help you assemble it or do you have it all memorized?
I recommend you buy a basic set of tools, they are not very expensive. Once you have practiced, buy the various specific tools.

Asked for repair in Norway, they couldn't do it and would have to send it to a Omega factory. They told me _at least_ 500$ to repair it + Freight/insurance.

It depends where you're from. Here in Germany I have seen perfect models on sale for €650.
500 € for the repair directly to Omega is still a fair price...😄

I could reprint the dial too even if I'm not as good as him. However I prefer to keep it original....
This video could have been so much more informative with voice-over commentary or even just captions explaining each step.
When you scratch a $2000 or $3000 set of hands with your steel tweezers, I'm will to bet you will start using plastic ones. :)
