You are looking cute and sparkly here... yes, we need to get out and give the body at least walking exercise and fresh air. I would prefer the 'positive' ions to be the good ones, to be taken in during the outdoor ventures, and the 'negative' ions, the ones I leave behind in the office or toxic environment... but I get the idea you are sharing
I agree,, I live near a large creek, and woods, growing up in the country, I always found peace while in the outdoors, I could never live and stay in the city, there is so much nature out there, and it's free to use.
We can also draw on those negative ions by simply touching the earth. The benefits of being in nature - even a pot plant in the home can bring benefits. There’s a lot of good stuff around. Thank you for sharing the insights you’ve learned.
I just provided 52 images to an author who is writing a book called “The Spirituality of Running”. It’s about the benefits of running in nature! It’s been a very fun project and his message coincides with yours! I loved your multiple exposures! Thanks for taking me along!
Excellent video, Kiim! Please do more of these. I really hope you inspire people to get out in nature or just open a window and breathe! I'm sure videos like this reduce the number of prescriptions for drugs to aid depression. Nature can be a healthy, drug-free alternative. Thankfully, I have no need for medication like that, but you've inspired me to get down to the coast today!
The multiple exposure image at 6:50 is absolutely beautiful! It has such an expressional depth to it while not getting confusingly surrealistic. Amazing!
Loved the science-y part - explains a lot. Looking at my own mental health journey, photography has been a lot more beneficial to me than medication (I think) - they should make photography available on prescription.
Great video! I loved the square format images! The multiple exposure images were very beautiful. They are some of your best abstract photos. I recently received an email from a botanical garden that I am a member of. It had a series of images done in a round format that I really liked. Just have to figure out how to do round format. Thanks for another great video.
Thanks Kim for sharing your experience.....put it simply, positive ions are molecules that have lost one or more electrons whereas negative ions are actually oxygen atoms with extra-negatively-charged electrons. Negative ions are abundant in nature, especially around waterfalls, on the ocean surf, at the beach and widespread in mountains and forests..... cheers from Australia 😀❤️
Loved the first image especially. Really nice video and couldn’t agree more about being outside in nature with the camera to restore some mindfulness balance. Can I ask if there is any make of ND filters you would recommend please 🙏
That was great, really interesting, explains a lot. I spend a lot of time outdoors and hate not breathing fresh air. Loved the multiple exposure with the gulls.
That long exposure shot at the beginning of the video was still lovely, even though the sun didn't quite do what you wanted it to! The positive and negative ion thing really makes sense too. There's no wonder I've been feeling so rough recently! I can't get out into nature and do the photography due to my physical health (long story) and that is in turn having an impact on my mental health. Hopefully things will change soon.
@@kimgrantphotography Thanks Kim. The long and short of it is that I need surgery to remove quite a large bladder stone, and until I get that surgery things aren't going to change, but the good news is it shouldn't be long now.
Another really interesting and informative video. I can relate to what you said about the ions. Your first picture where you said the light was flat would it be an option to try it in Black and White? Looking forward to your next video Kim.
The perfect video today! For the first time in a long time I was outside shooting, just for a little bit, and it was so nice! 💙 Not as nice here now though, strong winds and pretty cold, but what the heck! 🙂
Sorry to say you have fallen for some pseudo-science there; positive and negative charges around you will be balanced - you know what happens when you've shuffled over carpet and reach for the doorknob. Charges will even out. That said, the University of Oregon has published an interesting research paper on how the human brain likes to look at nature with its fractal structures, as opposed to smooth and blocky artificial environments. It's simply what our brains evolved to read. People in hospital get well faster if they have a window that shows some nature outside.
Hi Andreas, I'm studying at the moment and learnt this through my course. There's many papers online about this too. Nature has so many amazing benefits. This is just one of many. Ahh yes - I've heard the benefits of getting better quicker in hospital when you have a bed near a window. I remember reading a research paper about flowers when I was a nurse too. Although many hospitals don't allow flowers now. Nature and our connection to it is fascinating.
Here is a link to a medical website that speaks about it. There is so much that comes up when you look this up: www.webmd.com/balance/features/negative-ions-create-positive-vibes
The article starts with some claims and questions and then states "It's too early to tell for sure, ..." If you look up a meta-analysis of the studies on the topic you find exactly that result - data is inconclusive so far. Some effects have been seen in treatment of depression (which the article also mentions) but none on mood, anxiety/relaxation.
very happy to see your content, such a beautiful location and produce such special work, great job📸📸📸📸
Thank you very much :)
@@kimgrantphotography you're welcome and I'm always looking forward to your next content, greetings from me from my country Indonesia 📸📸📸

Thank you for sharing this video. I enjoyed it very much. You are an EXCELLENT photographer!
Thank you 😊🙏
Once the outside temperature allows, I've found simply opening my office window improves my mood.
I enjoy the "classic vlogs". :-)
Yes! It's so good to let some fresh air in

Nice talk Kim, You always plenty of enthusiasm to share with the people, and embracing the nature of your country with happiness at your soul...
Good job, Kim
At our core much of who we are is based on ionic chemistry, or just good ole' biochemistry. It's often too easy to overlook the obvious.
❤

Thank you very much Ivar
Don't forget grounding with your bare feet. That helps me greatly! Thanks so much for your thoughts!
Sure does Jon! Excited to do this again soon when it's a bit warmer

Great to hear this resonated with you Robert. Photography and nature certainly can be so very healing

Thank you for the kind words James! That's brilliant news about the botanical gardens ☺️
Nature and photography is helping me a lot in my life. I'm looking forward to spring, even though work ends soon. More time to spend outdoors.
Lovely to hear this. Enjoy when the time comes ☺️

Thank you Daryl. I did a black and white edit but much preferred it in colour. Thanks for the suggestion :)

Want to get out into nature however I have to watch your video first LOL.
