► I’m often asked about the shoes I wear for jumping rope. I've long worn minimalist shoes and jumped rope in them including Nike Free 3.0, Nike 5.0, and Nike Flex models for several years. Earlier this year though, I began wearing Peluva barefoot minimalist shoes. They're awesome. If you are looking for a time-efficient way to increase fat loss, speed, strength, balance, and reflexes as well as the condition of your bones, brain, and cardiorespiratory system, jumping rope may be the answer. As a bonus, jumping rope is fun especially as your fitness and skill levels increase. With practice, you'll be able to perform all kinds of cool jump rope moves. Apart from all these benefits, I simply like the sound the rope makes as it spins and cuts through the air before tapping the ground.

Very well explained in a simple way. I liked the way you used tape to explain this in more effective manner. Thanks very much!!👍👍
Hi Nagesh, thank you. I'm really glad you found the video helpful and liked the tape technique.
Just got my jump rope and about to head to the park to practice the footwork!
That's awesome, B K. Wishing you a great time/workout.
@@thewayofthejumprope It's a challenge switching back and forth from the basic boxers skip to this side by side boxers skip. Great workout love it
Good stuff!
And you're right. It can be challenging moving from side to side. With practice, you'll get the hang of it.
I do not know whether you have been praised and applauded for all your efforts teaching us "The Way of the Rope" recently. I hope you have. If not.... please accept my (now I am getting formal matching my age) sincere gratitude. Thank you so much!!! I love the triangle thing on the floor by the way; helped me so much to understand and execute this move better. Stay safe!
Thank you so much Juergen for your words. They are much appreciated.

Hi Andrew….Some time around same time last year….I learnt the boxers step from you! Thank you 🙏🏼
Hey KHK 360, great to hear from you and cool to hear that!
I haven't been able to jump rope for a while due to some unrelated injuries, but looking forward to skipping again soon.
@@thewayofthejumprope oh! Sorry to hear about your injuries 😔 very glad that you have recovered and got back to jumping…
There are quite a few jump rope channels out there …. The best tutorials are from you…look forward to your new videos …
A request…pl add the Running Man (or) the shuffle step to your laundry list of future videos 👍🏻
The best tutorial by far! For a beginner, this is gold! Thank you!
I'm so happy to hear that. Thank you for sharing.
@@thewayofthejumprope The hard work you put to make this video is amazing. From slowmo, shots on all angles, to actual speed - it really motivates me to pick up the rope and try to learn. Hope you won’t stop making your videos like this. Thank you so much.

Great tutorial Andrew👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼thanks!
Thank you MJ A. I always appreciate you commenting.
Great instructional video! Whenever I try these side to side moves I can directly feel more strain on the outward sides of my knees though..
Thanks Bernard, I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and thanks for sharing about the strain you feel when doing this move. I might have an idea what could be causing it and will make a video on it soon.
Very helpful , thanks my bro
Awesome Hariz!
great breakdown as usual! I think Liston did something similar with the front tap.
Thanks Dominique!
Hey Andrew,
Nice to see this video with such detail. Really makes this skill easy to learn! Isn't this the boxers skip, just with more detail?
Bill
Hey Bill, good to hear from you, and great to hear the video makes it easy to learn.
There are are a few differences. For instance, here, the front foot is doing majority of work, whereas with the basic boxer skip, the rear foot does most of the work. Also, this is side-to-side whereas the basis boxer step is up and down with more of a scissor foot motion. You can feel different parts of the leg being worked with the two moves and going from side-to-side adds some difficulty in terms of balance and coordination.
Great question all the same and could be a useful video.
Wow... excelente técnica..por fin voy a aprender a hacer el boxer step.... gracias gracias gracias.....saludos desde Colombia
I appreciate your kind words. Gracias!
