- Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders novel series would get it's second - and as of 2024, last - videogame adapation with Dragonriders: Chronicles of Pern. Does this adventure game prove worthy of it's source material?

I didn't even know there was a video game based on this franchise.
Cool review as always.
It holds potential for a great game. Not this one though lol. Cheers!
A third-party Dreamcast game in 2002? That's surprising! 🌒
Shame it was not very good 😂
Ah that's a shame. I've read a few Anne McCaffrey novels and there's plenty of potential for a decent fantasy game. Great footage and review as ever mate 😊
Appreciate the recommendation mate even if it turned out to be a bad game. Maybe they will do it justice eventually.
Oh man... I remember seeing this in a magazine back in the day and wanting it despite the poor reviews. Got a copy a few years ago and miraculously was able to finish it but damn was it ever rough.
I thought it would be a janky but fun title like Omikron (also on DC) but the load times are by far the worst on the console and the combat is baffling so thank goodness you only get in about 40 fights the entire campaign.
Good review mate and despite the game being bad I found the world to be intresting and its a shame it never got a movie or TV show but I believe its due to budget constraints since dragons are not cheap haha. They even pay homage to the author in the game by way of a NPC chef character called Anne who dreams of writing books about dragons.
Honestly hope we get another game at some point. The world and lore holds a lot of potential.
Unfortunately, this game was just a rushed mess pumped out for a discontinued console.
One to keep away from adding to my small but growing dreamcast collection! It sounds like this was draining to play.
@@FriendsAndGamingYT especially as it costs close to 200 quid over here! It really was
@@Steadysphere sometimes I wonder if games are really worth that much!
@@FriendsAndGamingYT tbf I think no game should be costing 4x its RRP from back in the day
This one really seems like it was just sent out to die after the DC's discontinuation. Not one I'm familiar with and it's probably best that way!
Absolutely mate. I feel bad as its not a great way to celebrate the Dreamcast's 25th birthday 😅
Wow, this game is really disappointing... kind of like finding out how terrible a person Anne McCaffrey turned out to be.
Also, those graphics... Are we sure this wasn't originally planned for the PS1 and just transitioned to the DC? I mean, the game screams of low effort/insufficient studio support, but still...
Yeah I read some...troubling information about her.
To be honest, it seems like Ubisoft just took the low-setting version of the PC game and just ported that. Its genuinely hideous.
