- Killer whales, also known as orcas, are dangerous hunters.
Once a killer whale spots its prey, other sea creatures don’t stand a chance. An orca’s sharp teeth can pierce through seals, giant squids and great white sharks.
Tilikum, a notorious male orca, was caught in the wild at two years old and eventually sold to SeaWorld. He had a psychosis that made him aggressive and killed three people during his life at SeaWorld.
How do you stop an orca from killing you? And how could a killer whale be more dangerous after it dies? These steps could save your life.

Orcas in the wild are pretty harmless for humans. I’ve had them swim along side me when I was kayaking in the Puget Sound. Very curious creatures, but I never felt threatened.
No surprises there. They aren't swimming in a bath tub so they are happy.

Orcas do not accept captivity, they want out.
Orcas in the wild are very nice. In cages though Orcas get aggressive since they are very smart , have there own languages and more
Just from me: SeaWorld needs to replace live orcas with robotic ones, just like in the movie" free willie" they used robotic orcas.
Actually they used a real orca in Free Willy his name was Keiko they used him for every Free Willy movie and released him after the last one. He passed away very shortly after his release because he didn't know how to hunt and couldn't find a pod/family because he was in captivity his whole life.

@@andrewbrinkworth1420 no they only used him in the first movie. After the first movie was finished filming they got him ready to go in the wild. They only used animations in the other 2 movies.
@@andrewbrinkworth1420 they taught him to hunt before they freed him it was a very long process and when he did leave he was gone for a year and then came back to hang with humans in Norway.
Finally after 6 months, my request is answered
He even didn’t do the jaguar attack one which he said he will do 6 months before

Wild orcas are surprisingly docile. They are intelligent, knowing we are not food. However captive orcas might attack due to pent up stress etc.

Not true. She WAS taken by the ponytail, it's very clearly stated by fellow trainer Jan Topoleski, who was the one who pushed the alarm button. Dawn was scalped. Plenty of witnesses varied in the early days, between the hair, the arm, or even jumping up and grabbing her waist (...), but it was confirmed it was the ponytail, and it's why long hair was banned with trainers later (they all had to wear buns from then on).

How to Survive a Killer Whale?
Just release them into the wild as simple as that.
I had a chance to meet an orca in the wild and I jumped in the water to play with them, they didn't seem to have any interest at first and then one of the males approached me and start to play with me, a few second later they all left in peace.

@@layylachegini806 there are plenty of videos of orcas swimming with humans… even humans disturbingly getting into the water next to them and they just get away if they are not interested… there is also the story of Luna, the friendliest killer whale we had met… but they just don’t harm humans because their diet is quite specific, not like us that eat everything… they could kill us and play with us… but still they choose not to… so… investigate a little more about orcas
There's never been a report of a wild orca killing a human. In addition, three of the four human deaths _ever_ attributed to orcas have been Seaworld's orca trainers. The fourth involved a mentally unstable homeless man sneaking into an orca's tank after hours.
This means _orcas are absolutely no threat to humans._ Especially considering Seaworld isn't allowed to let trainers in the orca tanks anymore.

I’ve begun to wonder. How would we know a human body was inside of an orca?
Only one trainer ever died at SeaWorld, in 2010. The other two were at Sealand of the Pacific (Canadian "roadside zoo" basically, 1991), and at Loro Parque (Spanish zoo, has nothing to do with SeaWorld except getting their whales from them), in 2009.
It's actually safer for the trainers to HAVE waterwork with them. The only person ever killed by a whale trained for waterwork was at Loro Parque, a freak accident (compare this to any other large animal freak accident - this year, for example, a zookeeper was killed by an eland, or just look at how many dozens of people are killed annually by horses).
The other three deaths happened PRECISELY because the whales (Tilikum, Nootka and Haida) were not trained for waterwork.

Why would you post this? Orcas are the kindest most gentle mammals on the planet. What you’re showing is Orcas that have been slaves and treated poorly there entire lives, so they go crazy after being in small swimming pools all their life, so they decide to attack their sea world handler. There has never been one reported attack of an orca hurting a human in the wild, EVER!

Step #1 the only one you need: don't buy a ticket.
At 2:21, you can see that Dawn's hair isn't in Tilikum's mouth. This is the moment that he had grabbed her by her arm, and soon after pulled her in. SeaWorld was trying to place the blame on her, as she was not wearing her hair on a bun, as is their protocol. Bigger problem was, however, that she was alone with Tilikum, without another trainer present. The trainers should never be alone with the orcas, and especially not with Tilikum due to his past. Luckily he is free now.

It's mind boggling how stupid some humans can be to think that such huge, intelligent mammals should be kept in the human equivalent of a bath tub performing tricks for food as entertainment. This is no different to bear baiting. The exploitation of these animals has to stop. No wonder so many trainers have been injured and in some cases killed in tragic circumstances in captivity whereas in the wild there has only ever been one wild orca attack ever recorded.

Point 3 is flat out misinformation. Overall attacks of Orcas have been only in captivity due to stress, depression, and isolation. In the wild orcas are harmless when respected due to their high intelligence and relatability with the human species. They aren’t an average predator that only cares about survival, they are curious and explorative. If anyone ever encounters them in the wild instead of being fearful in the situation just be respectful and take the the moment in, due your own research they’re complex beautiful creatures.
