Hello greatfullheart and thank you! Simply add the baking soda and lemon zest once your soap batch becomes neutral...and then pour the soap into your soap mold.
Hi Nicole, I am excited to try a soap with baking soda, and lemon....so I was really happy to find your video! I do not want to just dump in the b. soda willy nilly. You were very specific that soap making is not like casual cooking, and all of the oils must get into the batch as stated in formulation....I thought you demontrated that very accurately! .I too use a silicone spstula, their sooo long ladting, yet work best to get every last drop of the oils,... Alas, it has brought out the crassness in some viewers, and I suppose they've never left a little detail out of any recipe theyve ever shared, if in fact they were. caring enough to share it? Still can't find the finishing of this...it sounds great. In the old days they were "a little this, a little that"---there were no chemists around the farm to tell them how to be exact in their soap making. In the Amish recipes now, they still do it that way. Yes, Lye should be measured and treated with caution but....look at Marsha and her goat making soap on youtube ...it's not precise at all. And it turns out!

Usually baking soda is added to avoid using lye given the lye is caustic. You used both. Why?
All soap is produced with the use of lye. There is no such thing as lye free soap.
It concerns me why ur using a metal bowl.
Corena Garoutte Plastic can leach...so I'm using metal because it is most unlikely to leach chemicals into my soap. Remember lye is very strong and raw soap is caustic. Please, subscribe to my channel!
