    Hellooo! My first huge aldi haul in a while! I have left a meal plan that we intend to make with all of this food, plus there will be a lot more "off the cuff" style meals! In total it cost around £90 and is set to make meals for the next 2+ weeks! Follow me on IG for daily updates 🥰🥰🥰

      I use to like Ribena when i was sick, the one you dilute with water as well as orange juice.

    Peel the ginger, freeze it and then use a grater to use it in recipes, to make tea etc. Game changer!

    Just a tip if found really helpful with the bread, I also store my boon bread in the freezer for my 20 month old and when I make a sandwich I roll the slices out with a rolling pin so there easier for him to eat x

    Love your videos as always Soph- not sure if you know but as you love dips you can freeze hummus (even though the packs say not) so if it is on a short date just throw it in the freezer and when you defrost it just give it a good stir as it separates. Also pesto- nobody uses the full jar but freeze it in ice cube trays and then pop it out into freezer bags, great from frozen in soups or sauces and also stirred into pasta with leftover mushrooms

    Aldi is my holy grail even though they've bumped their prices up too like everywhere else! The Greek yoghurt is great for making homemade tandoori chicken too and so versatile... 👏 👏

    Orange honey and ginger drink for Orin. You are such a good mummy. Also as I go into summer starting to look at single-ingredient foods, so all normal fruits and veg, but cheese is great, read the ingredients! Also wholewheat pasta! Much more control in the meals we are making. Can't wait to see Orin this week eating his dinners or helping to cook with you xx

    Thank you for a great video. Do you cook mushrooms before you freeze them? I froze some recently and then they were really tough in the recipe. 🤷🏼‍♀️

      I don’t cook them, they normally freeze really well if I slice them before freezing! X

    Hi Sophie, loved your shopping haul from Aldi.
    A suggestion if your interested regarding you saying you found when you did your eating food that's at home that you quickly ran out of sweet treats or healthy treats and it made me realise I e not seen many batch cooked sweet treats made on your channel. So would you consider doing your own flapjacks or nut bars at home that you could batch cook and freeze maybe, I know your a busy lady but I personally would love to see a playlist of you making items like that on your channel especially as your foods are not only health conscious but very much done on a budget and although it's good to show main meal batch cooking it's normally the sweet treats or side dishes that's missed by many on this type of content. Obviously it's only a suggestion I don't want to interfere in your channel and I do love watching you and have been a subscriber for quite a while back in your early days. Your by far my favourite TH-camrs for Christmas food testing you and Laurence have a great balance of meat eater and not so much a meat eater and you both have different sweet and savoury likes and dislikes which really helps me judge whether it's something I could buy for my little household. I also liked the mini home bargains and charity shop etc hauls you used to do as your choice of items were not things I find other TH-camrs show. Being environmentally aware without being far left or far right of the subject is not easy and yet you really do have a nice balanced approach which I've enjoyed in the past when you did that type of content. Sorry to take up so much of your time. Thank you for the excellent and both informative and clear look at your Aldi shop oh and bid thankyou for the large prices on the screen, great touch and it needed to be addressed how appreciative it was to see. Sometimes many TH-camrs say the price so quickly I miss it but during these difficult times knowing the cost of items you see shown is highly beneficial. So thank you, take care.

    Soph you have to try Aldi's Naan wraps! I treat them the same as Naan bread, not necessarily to make wraps, and they taste AMAZING. So much better than the bread ;)

    question you say the pack or peas last about 10 days instead could you say how many meals you use the peas in ten days. e.g I made 2, 4, 5, 7 meals using 1 pack of peas so then we know an average amount per meal.

    • @Sopherina
      @Sopherina  ปีที่แล้ว

      We serve peas with (normally) 6 out of the 7 meals of the week (this week we have had peas every single day!) and serve about a handful of peas per person!

    I'm going to be controversial but I'm going to say it aldi has got expensive! I've gone back to waitrose buy nearly all essentials range and they have lowered most and it's working out so much cheaper! I pay £3 home delivery charge but I don't have to physically go in shop and get stressed and see how much I'm buying and look over couple of days and I've found it so much better. I feel bad as I loved aldi! It's just as expensive as everywhere now! And I don't have to get tempted by middle isle!

    I follow you on Instagram so I see that you take Orin to playgrounds and indoor play areas often...that could be a big reason why he's sick a lot. All the nasty kid germs touching everything (and it's not cleaned as often as you think!) yikes!

    • @carlymurtagh2472
      @carlymurtagh2472 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s great to build up his immune system now as once he starts school he will be the less sickly child: you can’t hide them away from germs or fun!

    • @hippychicken82
      @hippychicken82 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Children getting sick , it's stressful for parents but it's good for children to build their immune system. So taking him to playgrounds and soft plays are completely normal and shouldn't be seen as a bad thing!

    • @cperi2583
      @cperi2583 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hippychicken82 I agree, just offering an explanation on why he could be sick all the time!

    • @Sopherina
      @Sopherina  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I definitely think it’s all the bugs he picks up from the clubs and groups we go to! I’m definitely reassured knowing that this is an important part of immune building 👏

    • @beccamason3712
      @beccamason3712 ปีที่แล้ว

      Children also need to build up immunity. We mollycoddle kids far too much these days. A bit of dirt never hurt me ! End up making them neurotic

    A little tip for the bagels, if you slice them in half before you freeze them it means they can be toasted from frozen, or if you are making a sandwich with them they will thaw out faster. 🥯 😀

    • @Sopherina
      @Sopherina  ปีที่แล้ว

      Omg!! This is an amazing tip! Definitely doing this next time - as at the moment I’ve been slightly defrosting them in the microwave before I can slice them and then toast them. Your way makes much more sense 😅 xxx
