When I saw ‘shockers’ in the title I was almost expecting an outtakes/bloopers reel of expensive mistakes of the build this far lol. Great work this week as usual, so satisfying to watch somebody do this car exactly as I would do it if it were my own. Looks so damn fine. Well done
So great to see this coming together so well. Funny thing is I recall going through many of the same processes when I modded my escort in the early 80s.. Back then though I had very little money and no Internet shopping obviously so everything was sourced from local scrapyards and only a reasonable job done in refurbishing / combining parts to get the best I could. Happy days and only watching your videos do I start to realise how much fun it was (although being my only car, things had to be done piecemeal and much more quickly lol). Thanks for the nostalgic trip I'm having 👍
Thanks 👍 Ive really really enjoyed the build yeah. There are times when you feel like everything is against you but you overcome the issues and the rest of it is really enjoyable. I would recommend it to anybody as an amazing hobby, if it wasnt for the fact that its so bloody expensive 🤦♂️ Your absolutely right about the internet. It would be almost impossible without the internet for sourcing those rare parts.
Got into watching your build around a week ago and can’t stop watching now when I get 5 minutes, it’s a beautiful car as well as your mini and both a tribute to your attention to detail, can’t wait to eventually see it finished and probably see it in the flesh at a car show 👍
I’d just like to say you sir are a genius I came across your build through my love of old Fords and have loved watching all the episodes so far back to back please carry on doing what your doing and don’t even comment on the haters great work
Looking great Craig, shame that it will be a bit longer than expected to get it sitting on all fours but well worth the wait. (Still one of the finest examples out there in my opinion!) stay safe and well my friend 😊👍
Thanks for the great explanation on the windscreen wiper motor wiring, my mk1 wipers just park where ever I turn them off, I will definately be looking into this over the weekend 👍 thanks again
Thanks Andrew. I am but at the same time nervous as there is so many areas that have been rebuilt so just nervous that everything is good and there are no major issues upon start up 🤞🤞🤞
Thanks Barry. Im really gutted about how long the wheels are taking but i know they will be worth the wait. Exhaust is taking way longer than expected too 🤦♂️
This car just gets better and better. What a fantastic build! The OCD part of me gets a little annoyed that the silicone axle pads and lowering block aren't satin black, and I bet you're the same there Craig. God knows why the manufacturers decided to go for that weird bluey/purple is a mystery and the lowering blocks light grey. If it IS a little too low you could machine some aluminium lowering blocks and powder coat them satin black to fix half that issue though ;) Lol!
Thanks 👍 Yes i would much rather all the polly bushes were black but some are also yellow 🤦♂️ Thinking about the lowering blocks, i can actually cut / machine them down to alter the ride height. They are bare aluminium and everybody seams to leave them bare but yeah, i could certainly have them powder-coated to match in i suppose. I didn’t give any thought to powder-coating the lowering blocks as they are always bare on all builds.
@@performanceclassics1986 I know exactly how these things get you. I clearly recall scrubbing my tail-light lenses with a toothbrush in a bath full of piping hot water. Great work on the handbrake and wiper mechanism. It's those little details and attention to detail that sets your car apart from almost all the others. It's making me want to get building one again. Top work!
😎 Thanks for the great comment. Im a firm believer that just because you cant see a part, doesn’t mean the quality should be any less. In my weird head, a perfect build is a build where all areas are perfect. Not just those on show. Bloody OCD 🤣
@@performanceclassics1986 We found 1" was about right but we were rallying on 13" rim's with 60 profile tyres on tarmac or 70/75 profile on loose.... not a situation you're going to find yourself in I'd imagine 😉
Took me a while to fathom out too . Problem is when you remove the foot operated washer as the park wiring runs through that ! Once you work it out it’s simple and you wonder why you’ve scratched your head for an hour 😁😂😂
Better than new as they say. What type of black gloss spray paint are you using to get that shine? I've used Halfords but the gloss needs a lot of polishing to try and bring it up.
Its Hycote paint from our local garage Andy. Its not fantastic but probably as good as it gets for a rattle can in fairness. You cant beat powder-coat or a decent spray gun

Where did you get your mirrors. Lovely build progress.
They came from GS Escorts at Runcorn. They sell them all the time. I think they are around £25 each if i remember rightly
