    I did something similar on my own for a while. I would walk in the pool at a depth of shoulder level, i.e no body weight being supported, and gradually try to go to shallower and shallower depths while trying to support my body weight on my own. If nothing else, it felt pleasant.
    Eventually, I became more and more paralyzed due to radiotherapy side effects. I was being treated for an inoperable spinal tumor, T2 (complete). I've just discovered these TH-cam videos by fellow paraplegics and it's *friggin' life changing*! Thanks for making them. Sincerely, Thank You!!!

    This has to feel liberating for him.

      I'm not him so I can't speak for him...but I know when I use muscles that don't work, it is far from 'liberating' for me. It is a strain on muscles that won't develop and is very painful because I basically strained those muscles. Please think people.

    @krisreckner Hey Kris, I'm not actually getting this therapy consistently...I just volunteered for them to test me for 2 sessions. Even if I did want to do this therapy it would be a long way away and they said I would have to completely stop taking baclofen. I had HORRIBLE spasms before I got my baclofen pump so the benefits of this therapy don't outweigh the misery of 24/7 muscle spasms. I'm glad I did it though.

    I hope they develop more options to possibly help you walk again one day! I follow emma Carey who was able to walk again after her accident but she has incomplete paralysis. Still, it’s amazing the things they can do now and I really believe something will come about for you one day!

    I hear ya with getting off baclofen ,I dont think I could do that either ,not without an inordinate amount of pain medication which tends to help with spasms as well as pain. Keep that in mind if they ever offer this to you again because I know someone that was able to walk again with therapy similar to this with the parallel bars.

    NeuroFit @ Sheltering Arms is a great place to go for rehabilitation. My close friend who is a quadriplegic states that he participates in 1-2 hour sessions only for $75/hour which includes Lokomat (gait training) for him.

    @honkytonk2010 For me, the baclofen pump has been a lifesaver so I will not be stopping anytime soon. This is not a therapy that I am continuing to do. I would've liked to continue it but I am not willing to have muscle spasms own me anymore. They were absolutely horrible.

    I stopped taking baclofen about a year ago coz I didn't want to...so now I get spasms, but I am able to cope with it. And It's not that bad. I am a T2 complete.

    Youre really lucky, Im trying to get therapy like this and in the therapy pool they have at my rehab facility, which is apparently one of the only ones in the northeast, but its like pulling teeth with only medicare and disability. aYou look like youre doing really well, what do youre therapists say when you tell them about the bike? You oughta go to therapy sometime on the bike and have someone follow you with your chair, just to see their jaws drop, lol

    Hello,
    My name is Brian Kang from Seoul National University, Korea.
    We are currently planning to film a 10 minutes video lecture about Introducing rehabilitation robots in Korean.
    The purpose of this lecture is to introduce current rehabilitation robot field to high school students and undergraduate students.
    The lecture will be open access. And I was wondering if I can use this video as part of the material for the lecture
    Could you give us permissions to use this video?
    Thank you very much.

    All hail Baclofen, I'm on the highest dose of the oral form before a pump can be inserted, I still get spasms, but only when I push myself, and I also take flexeril too.

      Helios Gaming can you walk with pump in you? I’m getting the baclofen pump in December after walking on crutches for 30 years and being on the maximum 40mg 3 times a day dosage. I can walk on crutches but am nervous pump will knock my leg strength out.

    • @ParalyzedLiving
      @ParalyzedLiving  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Seung Moon I don't go to physical therapy anymore but I do have a membership to a gym where I go 2-3 times a week. I primarily use the hand cycle which is similar to an exercise bike. It's a great upper body cardio workout. I also lift weights as well.

    Hi brian nice therapy but isnt it hard. I mean balancing, walking. I mean it great especially for youre body. It very good for the blood streaming. And if it is not working to walk again then its always good for exercise and youre body. But it seems also hard and being tired for trying walking and balancing at the same time. I would be exhausted if i should have to do that. Love sabrina

    what does mean incomplete spinal cord injuries ? Thx

    • @ParalyzedLiving
      @ParalyzedLiving  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Moka Bokal Incomplete spinal cord injuries (SCI's) mean the person has some sensation or control over there body. Typically a "complete" injury equates to no sensation or motor function. This means that the person feels nothing and can move nothing below the level their spinal cord was injured. In my case my injury is a T1 complete meaning I can't feel or move anything below my armpit level.
