I bought a 80 inch Jeep plow for 150. Bought a quick connect plate took it all to local weld shop. A week later I had a snow plow for my 3301 Kubota for less that $500. It is a power angle plow but I don't have a 3rd function on the tractor. The welder drilled holes in the plow carriage and I can turn plow.
I think you just changed my mind on a snowblower. I have a 1/4 mile drive and tractor with a loader that I am using now for this first winter. I was planning on a blower next winter but after plowing the first time with the loader I realized how well a plow would work and use the loader for moving banks back. I don't have to worry about drifts where I am at, but we get a tone of snow, Northern Michigan. Cost wise, it's really comparable to a snowblower, rear inverted what I was looking at, front mounts are way too much for me, so yeah, thanks for the video!
Thanks. Great video!! You made my mind up for me!!!! Getting ready for winter, and I’m getting plough this year!!! Been using the bucket last couple of years and you can get by but definitely not ideal!!! Thanks again!!!!
Those "Chain-drive's" are Exactly what you Need. Just really think you should of went with a 6.5 or 7.0 footer, all because of the "angle-lation" "wind-row" effect... The price difference is negligible. Have a 6 footer on my almost just as big ( but only 2 wheel drive) 21hp & it's perfect. That rig can use some "add-on wings" at least ! Man you got 4wd 25 hp,super-meaty chains & more weight,... ya just have to "Go for IT".! Thank you Sir for the Excelent vidio and happy safe tractoring. Best wishes with all your endeavours.
I think the changes on the tire is part of the plow even on flat ground they help a lot especially in wet snow the cost of the plow long-term investment love watching your video very informative
Good video Brother I'm buying one for mine now, I don't have anything like you do for property to plow but I like to do my neighbors yards to when I can. Thanks for the video!
Silicone or WD-40 will help stop the snow from sticking to yer blade. Find som car chainz for yer front tires. Handel's the ice even better! Might get some snow thiz coming week here in VA!
How much does the blade weigh? I’m building the same thing out of a 8’ truck plow and was wondering if it will be too hard on the loader. It can lift it fine but and I plan to go slow with it. Just looking for advice. Thanks
How do you know how far back or forward to adjust the blade? I see your tractor does not have a bucket level rod. I have a Kubota Ll3130DT and are making a snow plow blade for it. However I do not have a quick attach set-up on mine so I install it on the bucket. Also you must use it in float mode once the blade is down and depending on the angle of the snow blade it will change the attack angle...correct. Great video. Thanks in advance.
The loader in float mode makes things pretty fool-proof as long as you have enough traction and the ground is frozen. With my setup I can see the plow shoes from the tractor seat so that's a good guage of level for me, but the setup is quite forgiving as long as the ground is frozen. When things are thawed, and I can't use float mode, you're right; it's a lot of feathering the loader hydraulics over uneven ground.
@@Academy_Farm Thanks for the response. I am going to attach mine to the bucket and allow it to move up and down a bit. I don't have a quick attach on mine. Happy holidays.
@@Academy_Farm we got our first snow of the year, and the gravel isn’t frozen yet. I was out there beating myself up over having to relearn the art of plowing. How much spacers do you run between your blade and shoes?
@chrissd08 when the ground isn't frozen, I can't really run the loader in float mode. You need to finess the hydraulics, and likely leave an inch or so of snow/slush. It melts fast this time of year and beats digging holes with your plow... I keep those spacer pretty flush with the blade for when the ground is frozen.
I'm thinking I'm watching this now for the third time I'm an average how much does a plow cost for a tractor like this I know pricing these days is hard to keep up with just an average
Small blade…….. why? Look you don’t have to have the blade full of snow when moving snow! Many times I would only use half of the blade while moving snow but I’m able to avoid have to be at the edge of the shoulder of the road thus avoiding too being to close to the edge of the road!

That's a long driveway to back down a few times! I'm still loving the plow for all of our applications.

Thanks! It's an investment for sure but worth it for us. Good luck!
Lmfao running beside the tractor to film that's dedication
One of the few videos I’ve watched where someone likes the plow rather than the pusher. I would have to try both.
We have a more recent video on the channel that illustrates better why I'd struggle with a pusher. Thanks!

One of my favourite things to do!
It's certainly more enjoyable when I'm not rushed and it's not the middle of the night!

Thank you, Sir. The plow is one of those things that now that we've had it, I can't imagine getting by without it. Happy winter!

I'll try that again on our next sticky snow. Happy winter! I do now have chains for the rear tires and it makes a world of difference.

What cutting edge is on your blade?
@paulreter6466 that's the edge that came with the the plow new, I'm not sure what the manufacturer used.
I'm thinking I'm watching this now for the third time I'm an average how much does a plow cost for a tractor like this I know pricing these days is hard to keep up with just an average
They run about $2,600-$3,500 today.
do you use the float on the loader when plowing?
Yes! Works well so long as the snow isn't super wet/heavy. Then I'll need to take the weight off the front end to get more traction.
Is your driveway gravel?
It sure is!
just needs a wing

I'd have a lot more passes (time) if I wasn't able to clear 5' at a time. I get what you're saying though!
