Sometimes good movies fail at the box office, (Shawshank Redemption) and bad movies get a lot of money, (The Last Jedi). People are strange but money doesn’t matter. What matters is how the movie is viewed afterwards and a prime example is still the two movies I mentioned.
Cos too many kids were attracted to those Disney/Pixar films! This wouldn’t appeal to them...I’m sure they’d later regretted not seeing this later on 😂
Foxes live 2-5 (averaging 3) years in the wild but can live up to 12 years in captivity. The fact that Fox is 7 and in good health after the time skip shows how self-domesticated the foxes have become.
It's a lovely psychedelic classic rock song, I'm so glad that it gets some appreciation. Funnily enough, I just came from listening to that song. What a masterpiece and I'm so pleased at the recognition it's received.
Watching this scene again is so weird, seeing them talk about her "not feeling well", she starts "acting skittish", it's all her being pregnant, and keeping the news inside until there's a moment that she feels is right to let him know
As you probably already got from this opening, it's a family film that actually caters to everybody rather than just little kids, and yes it's actually good, it's a rarity really.
3:15 Gosh I love how much emotions come through this animated doll. Perfectly captures that awkward feeling of wanting to be happy at good news that terrifies you.
This is probably the best Wes Anderson movie. I love the energy and the vibe that gives us. The only thing I never understod was why was Fox afraid of wolves? I mean, why would that be?
@@That_One_User_314 ... apparently you still don't get it. It's a common expression to tell a pregnant woman "omg you're so beautiful that you're glowing!". Glowing means "really beautiful", but it's really only ever used towards pregnant women. They turned the expression on its head, and instead of her being really beautiful, they straight-up replaced her stop-motion figurine with a plastic candle so she was actually glowing. They're outside. His comment on the lighting was about the sun, not studio lights. Also, we find out later that she is, indeed, pregnant.
One thing has to be said about Wes Anderson, he is a versatile director. Fantastic Mr Fox is a beautifully crafted animation and absolute pleasure to watch.
Even if it is all just fantasy, just based on a children's book....the minute I saw this movie, I could tell this is the movie where the saying "Life is what you make of it" look beautiful. It' the type of movie that reminds us that the world is still plenty big for all of us
I love how even if the whole movie were just the first few minutes up until the time skip, it would still be an amazing little short with a cute story.
The first watching this film. I was finding it hard to tell where the characters interactions were going. Years later, I see this is an oddly comforting film. That, and the fox characters in this film are all such cuties.
Other than Rushmore, this is Anderson's most competent film. You can tell his passion for the original material, and that a lot of thought was put into it.
I totally agree that this is a true masterpiece. Too bad it wasn't a box office success. One of the very finest films of its kind ever made .I love it.
I don’t know how to say it elegantly but this movie is so watchable. It’s hard to not want to take in every detail and rewind to catch more and more bits of its beauty
Animation is a great choice of medium for someone like Wes Anderson. You get complete control over every last detail that appears on screen, and you can do things that would otherwise be too costly or considered horrible or obscene to show in a live action film, just because it's through a cartoon. Makes me wish other auteurs embraced animation outside of the usual disney stuff. The only other one I can think of is David Lynch's occasional use of stop motion. And Tim Burton.
*FOX About Town with Mr. Fox* The breeze picks up and a change of season is upon is. In behind the scenes for this film, the actors recorded - acted out - their lines/roles outdoors. That gave the film the energy necessary.

The detailing in this film is incredible. Mad respect for the stop-motion animators, voice actors, everyone involved.
