  • This short video show KA114 taking off from home base which is at the Military Aircraft Museum at Virginia Beach USA. The aircraft is flown by Mike Spalding.

    The spit would be number 1 but the mosse has 2 Merlin's ! Has to b the winner !

    Sound quality of the video is vastly different to that of the original KA114 footage the NZ guys took. Hope we can look forward to some more great footage of this wonderful aircraft. Just a pity it had to leave NZ! (I mean that in the nicest possible way!).

      I filmed the one in NZ with a Contoru camera similar to a go pro, this one done using a hand held camera as we never had time to set the other up.

    KA114 was rebuilt in New Zealand for MAM, now hopefully she is here to stay. Only the Spitfire, is a more beautiful A/C.

    Did the aircraft get sold to the US or on loan?

      Good question. I think it’s on loan. If the aircraft has the US Air Force roundel on its wings then it got sold to the US, but it’s hard to tell.

    Where is the leather helmet with goggles? This pilot is wearing a plastic brain bucket!
    That is so uncouth flying a WW2 De Havilland mosquito!

    Lets hang on to the few that reamin...no wingovers, loops or anything else it shouldnt do ...fly smooth.
