Our domestic help is someone's mother, daughter & sister. They left their children, parents & siblings behind to make our lives better. They deserve more dignity and respect than what most Singaporean employers accord them.
There leader is my sister, when we're young he always like that. He always looking for adventure hes motto always " no guts no glory 😂 i guess she bring it to Singapore im so proud of her. Good bless you sister ❤🎉🎉 much love
Love how they found a unique way to build a community! I do hope the admin will delete the inevitable hateful comments from finger-wagging repressed Singaporean trolls.
My goodness some of the people here aren't even humans. Why are you so pressed that they are having their *rightful* and *warranted* day off? Do you not know what it means to live? Do employers only work or do they go out and have fun? These people can't even have fun with their families, now you want to take their friends away from them too? They are living. Live and let live. Stop going against foreign workers. They are *not* slaves. They are workers. They have rights. *If you think it's so right to treat them as a slave, you go and be a slave, not even kidding. If you won't do it, don't expect them to.*
These people see these domestic helpers and workers from a foreign land and completely dissociate. To them they are not a fellow human, but simply a tool or object that they can use to maintain their way of life. Even the title of the video feels patronizing - why are we trying to rationalise having a single day off work?
Unfortunately, this is how Singapore developed. Workers slaving away for a pittance, forgoing life balance, all for the benefit of a select few sitting in their comfortable air-conditioned office/home. When a select few of these workers "make it", they'd do the same to others, for their own benefit. "The more you do, and the less I pay, the better" they said.
I like roller skating.. the first time I saw the boss of Lolly Gate 3 I immediately contacted him.. and immediately joined Gate 3,, even though I don't have much free time but I made time to play roller skating at the stadium... because I like it.. I like you guys I'm happy with you guys...
Lovely community. It's wonderful to see how these domestic helpers foster meaningful connections and support one another while living in a foreign country. Keep on skating!
They also gather in large groups at HDB void decks and make a lot of noise, obstruct human traffic and clutter the bins to the brim at the end of the day. So many residents are impacted by their noise and waste. People who don't experience this might think I'm just a sourpuss but the unsightly things I see every week are real.
Ok yes. You had your off, however the impression was spoiled by those dancing outside of paya lebar square, drinking, making Bangladesh fight over them. Not all but most. Rarely you'll see Singaporean sitting and gather more than 5, sitting on floor, talking loudly(we'd get arrested in some cases)(illegal gathering/disturbing the peace). Lucky Singaporean, we could close an eye on that, we understand they needs rest too However, also most foreign worker in Singapore( from different industry), failed to integrate into Singapore culture, hence there's bad and good perception.
If working on Sunday means double pay, it is more worthwhile to work. Life is already hard for them, a little bit harder won't be that different, but that money will make a difference
Money goes away. Imagine their life for a moment. It's literally just take and delegate, spend, spend, earn, earn. Sabbath is necessary. Rest is necessary. Humans do not live to work, they work to live. There's work, and there's enjoying the fruits of one's labour.
