There are a lot of guitar players out there, but very few of them can teach it. Been around a long time so trust me you are in a league of your own. Best teacher I've seen. It's a gift and you have it. Thanks! Jim
I always!!! need to hear the song played first like you do. I get the tune in my head first so I know where I am going. Most teachers just start teaching the breakdown. Love how you teach dont stop! LOVE It!
I just recently discovered your videos, sorry for me I did not find you sooner. I really appreciate the way your lessons are structured, You do several great things: it's helpfully to have the cords along with the number of strums shown on the screen, big chunks of the song to play along with and the way you show the rifts and walk downs seems a lot clearer than anyone else. Breaking the rythm and lead into two serperate lessons is a great idea too. Bottom line you makes it easy to quickly pick up a song with minimal frustration, Thanks !
you are by far the best instructor online I like how you play the song, sing the song as you show the chords being played on the screenthank you so much
+Rashon Loggins Trying my best to make these as beginner friendly as possible. Glad my teaching style and format is agreeing with you. Much more is on the way. Thanks. -Rob
I'm so glad I found this channel! You have a great voice too! I'm trying to learn John Mayer's Waiting on the Day and Stop This Train. If you get a chance please do lessons on theses songs. Thanks!
Hey thanks a lot for the positive feedback bud. Really appreciate the recommendations. In a couple days I'll have an official form for you to submit suggestions. I'll keep those tunes in mind in the meantime. Thanks and have fun!
If anyone is having trouble with the walk down section, try using your thumb to fret the root notes. Personally I find it much easier than switching around which fingers are fretting the D shape.
Great lesson! Started playing guitar thanks to your lessons on: Stand by me Let it be Twist and shout You ain't going nowhere Yet here i am again! Watching another great lesson of yours, so keep up the great work, you're the best! :)
I like the way that you teach. You show CLOSE up pictures of your fingers and the neck of the guitar as well as the diagram of the chords so we know where to put our fingers. I love this song and have wanted to learn to play it for a while. The strum pattern works for me.. I have only been playing a year so I am still a novice but I learn more every day and I find my music at least recognizable thanks to teachers like your self....... do you think you could show a close up of the INTRO to Love Growns where my Rosemary goes by Edison Lighthouse. I taught myself how to play it today but there was no instruction to show the intro I am more of a summer than a picker and I know it has to be picked. 6-5-4 strings????5th fret?? I am so confused. I know if I could just watch some one do it I an pick it up PLEASE help! I am better at watching rather than reading it! Thanks !
I've heard some guys say he tuned the top E string to D and that it made it easier when he played the descending double note slide. It would be possible I think to play in standard and do the double notes by using your fingers instead of a plectrum. God I still miss young George - a talented but amazingly underrated player but never self indulgent.
Thank you so much for this! great tutorial! What's the name of that transition chord you do between the C and the Am during the first chord progression? Love your uke tutorials also! Please do more if you can :)
swiftlessons You're making me think there's some hope for this beginner. Small hands and a bad thumb here, won't come over the top and do anything but deaden a string. Any hints on a neck shape that might help, this old 3/4 size Takamine has some problems and could stand being replaced anyway.
Thanks, very clear and simple walkdown at the end of the bridge! The only part that confuses me is why you would have long hair and a beard but not let it down like George for this song??? (Also, the second chord in that walkdown isn't quite C9--more like C9 (#11), or Dsus7 would probably be better. Regardless, it sounds cool!)
Mate I am a beginner .. can u clear a doubt for me...they say palms shouldnt touch the guitar so that means only finger tips and thumb should be used..no other support...sometimes middle or lower part of my index finger touch neck while playing c chord...pls clerify this...cheers
ronit Gandhi Hey, as a general rule, the palm of your hand should NOT touch the back of the neck. Instead, you should always use the thumb for added support. If the thumb is up high, then you may rest the pocket between the thumb and index against the neck as well. In the long run this is a much healthier technique, as the fingers are much larger muscle groups than whats found in the palm, meaning they will fatigue much less. In addition, you will be able to navigate the fretboard faster, as proper technique allows the hand to glide along uninterrupted. Best. -Rob
Danny Kovalak I would love to, such a great tune and I have taught it to many students in the past. Would you mind submitting that song request at: goo.gl/s6rH26 ? Thanks a ton. -Rob
Mark McInerney There's a few guitars under the $200-$250 mark that are suitable for beginners and early intermediate players. I've compiled them in this "store": astore.amazon.com/swiftlessonsc-20?_encoding=UTF8&node=3
He doesn't even include the slide. If you're going to do a George Harrison song, you should probably include the slides. It was George Harrison's signature style.
TaReQ000OjEmY Keep practicing... Practice each change slowly, 1500 times. Of course, you'll only need to go through that process once per chord change, and you'll have it forever!

This down up down up up nonsense is ridiculous. Real beginners are put off by it, and when they cant do it they invariably give up.A song does not have to be in a set pattern..Dylan is the master at messing around with songs. Just give the chords and play the damn thing-like privetrikker. If I hadnt have ignored this nonsense, I would never have learned to play. Nothing beats just playing along with a more advanced player. The ability to keep in tune, in time and change chords fluidly is more important than this down down up etc.
I couldn't disagree more. Learning common patterns opens the door for individuals who struggle with the rhythmic aspects of learning the guitar. Yes, I have had a few students that naturally can pick up rhythms and create their own patterns... but the vast majority of my hundreds of students have benefited greatly from learning the correct strumming techniques. Try getting work as a professional guitarist, you'll be kicked off the tour if you don't bother to learn the actual strumming patterns of the tunes you were asked to learn.
I am a professional. Sometimes Im lazy and do my own rhythm, but as for being kicked off a tour- no..Unless youre useless.Talk like that makes the music business rarified somehow.Lennon followed his own rules. It didnt do him much harm.I,ll retract some of that, inasmuch as yes of course giving someone a sense of discipline will improve them, but rock n roll, and some other forms can be treated loosely sometimes. Thats the joy of it. Making it some rigid, by the book exercise, spoils that fun and freedom. Im not the greatest player in the world, but Im not the worst and if I,d given up on everything because I couldnt follow some things, I wouldnt be enjoying my playing now.You have a point but youre not totally right. As for not being able to get into a band, thats preposterous. What about a simple 4/4 strummer?! Dylan or Ramone were considered by some as not great players..look where they got to..Listen folks, this guy is a good player and teacher, but dont think youre shit if you cant get the pattern "just so". There is a thing called ones own style.
7 months old, but wtf Paul? It's a free lesson on youtube and a good one at that. If you're trying to learn guitar and give up on a song because you can't follow a simple strumming pattern then that's on you. Why you gotta be so negative on a great (and free) lesson? Thanks, +swiftlessons!
Didnt you read my post below? I play, and Ive recorded this one.Who said I cant follow strumming patterns? I stand by what I said. Not just for me , but for others , this up down crap is irritating.

Very good man!!!
Superb
Excellent , can you please consider doing a lesson on "all things must pass"?
love it,thanks
john laporte Very welcome, thanks for the kind message. Be well and enjoy your practice!
I was hoping to find out if George tuned to an open chord for this but there was the compensation of your very nice vocals.
Thanks Jack, glad you're digging my vocals. As far as I know this song was performed completely in standard.
I've heard some guys say he tuned the top E string to D and that it made it easier when he played the descending double note slide. It would be possible I think to play in standard and do the double notes by using your fingers instead of a plectrum. Great
Is this song gonna be heard the same at classic guitar?
THEMAGICIAN PR Sure, it will have a different tone, but totally acceptable.
Thanks, very clear and simple walkdown at the end of the bridge! The only part that confuses me is why you would have long hair and a beard but not let it down like George for this song??? Did you make up your own strumming pattern? It's a bit off from the original. I'll stick with the original.
im dying laughing at thew moran who put thumbs down!,,,how do 6you not like a guitar lesson,,,oh yeah,,,,he DOSNT play guitar!..haaaaa
+cat fan54 You can only assume... Though I look like a real train wreck in this video. Best not to teach after a late night of rocking haha.
