    TY for your truly helpful guides. I have the 2018 Tucson limited. My low beam light had to be replaced. The alert has stayed on on the dash. How do I make it go away? TY

    Any idea why i would not have the Ok to Reset on my service reminder or the service interval section in the menu? Cant find anything on this. I have a factory reset option in that menu but not sure what it will do. It used to be a hire vehicle so i was thinking maybe they had hidden that option on it somehow so that people hiring it wouldnt be able to play with it.? Good informative video by the way.

      That is really strange, I don't know what could cause this not to be in the user settings menu....

      @@automotiveserviceresetproc4431 Your telling me. Still havnt got this sorted yet. Going to be going for a service early next year so hopefully they can change it. Do you think the factory reset option might just fix it? Surely it cant do that much? Especially if its accessible by the everyday user. Might just have to relearn idle maybe? Thoughts appreciated

      I had the same thing, just hold "ok" for a while, then the "hold ok to reset" will appear. Release ok and hold it again

      The OK reset option also don't appear on the service screen in our 2017 Tucson.. Its a UK spec 1.6 petrol..

    Mine says service off does that mean it's off and not telling me when I need service?? Or that I'm good and I don't need to take it in for service yet? I'm new to driving.

    Have a 2 week old Tucson with 550 miles and this keeps coming up. To “service in 9 days” and so on. I called the dealer to arrange the first oil change but they said it’s not needed yet. They said to bring it in without appt and they’ll reset it or something like that...
    I assumed it was the frost oil change reminder (around 500 miles or so). Even lawn mower engines advice this, to change the oil after the initial 50hrs then once a year.
    It has to do with breaking in the high spots(microscopic) on the cylinder walls and will have metal(aluminum) particles in the first oil change.
    But I guess that’s not what this service reminder is for???

      @automotiveserviceresetproc4431  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Modern automotive engines do not require the first oil change at an earlier interval for break-in purposes. The service reminders in these vehicles are set for a number of days and miles, they will alert you that it is time for service if the number of days has been reached even if the miles have not. What likely happened is the service reminder was set when the vehicle arrived at the dealership or even prior to that which means as it was sitting on the lot for sale the days were ticking away. This triggered the reminder due to time passed and that is why it is saying to "service in 9 days". Since modern oil does not breakdown like it used to you are perfectly safe to go to your first mile interval unless that won't happen in the next 12 months. You can save the time of not returning to the dealership by utilizing the service reset procedure outlined in the video. Pay close attention to the miles and days that it is set for to ensure it was set properly. If you have purchased a 2020 model year or newer Tucson then it will come with 3 years of prepaid maintenance and the interval for that is 12 months or 7500 miles, which even comes first. If this is the case then you may want to set the reminder for 11 months and 7,000~ miles as you have already had the vehicle now for a month and driven it over 500 miles. This will ensure you get into the dealer in the correct time frame. Hyundai allows the dealer to claim the oil change and tire rotation anytime 30 days before or after the 12 month mark or with 500 miles under or about the 7,500 mile mark. I hope this helped and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions! Have a great day!

      Automotive Service Reset Procedures yes this helped further. I called a second dealership 2 weeks ago and they pretty much said the same thing. They explained that they were not going to change the oil at around 600 miles, all that needed to be done was reset the reminder. So I went ahead and did it myself thanks to this vid. I’ll reach the mileage before the 12 months so I’ll just stick 7000 miles in my head is when oil changes are due. That’s how it was on a civic I had.
      One more thing though, the factory puts conventional oil and that’s good for 7500 miles? What if it was synthetic?? For the free 3 years of maintenance they’ll keep putting in conventional oil. That’s fine since they’re the ones that will be paying for more changes. But after that I should plan on switching to full synthetic for longer intervals?

    Typically this service reminder is for just to change your oil?

    • @automotiveserviceresetproc4431
      @automotiveserviceresetproc4431  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends on what kind of service schedule you are on. For instance, depending on driving conditions you can usually safely drive 5,000 - 7,000 miles between oil changes, at which point you could do your tire rotation at the same time. It is just a set number of miles that you can change based off of when you want the reminder to pop up. It doesn't actually know anything about your vehicle, think of it as a timer. I would recommend getting in a routine where you can do you oil change and tire rotation at the same time. If you are bringing the vehicle to a good service center they should be able to help you with this.
