Nai Yang Beach - Phuket Thailand - Hidden Gem of the Island

  • Nai Yang Beach is one of those out of the way and off the beaten tracks hidden gems. It is little known from first timer visitors to Phuket but very popular with returning travellers. Beautiful, shaded, and full of tiny fun bars and restaurants, Nai Yang remains peaceful like most of the northern beaches of Phuket because they are not along the main roads.
With a vast beach, a shallow sea, and many trees to provide shade, this place has not been overly developed and has kept a bit of the old Phuket atmosphere.
The beach itself is large and sandy with a few beach chairs. The water is very shallow, and because of this, the water might not always be as blue as on other beaches lower on the west coast. The sea gets more beautiful in the northern part of the bay.
People here seem to love staying under the casuarina trees’ shade while enjoying cold drinks and local food, and the breeze from the sea.
It’s a great spot with beautiful views, amazing sand and without the crowds of some of the more developed beaches. It’s not every day you can be at a beach within minutes of landing on a plane.
It’s also possible to see the planes approaching Phuket airport from your sun chair and a short drive north to see them coming in right over the beach.
    Enjoy the video!

This is a great beach. Just to the south of here is another one if you are looking to be farther away from the airport, Nai Thon. Here is the video if you want to see more.

Good video, as a local, this and thon beach are probably the best on the nth of the island. More family friendly than the more popular Patong etc. There is a little night life if you know where to look. Good restaurants, but mainly limited to thai, pizza, indian. Plenty of massage shops, most legit, There are more authentic restaurants off the beach, beef/duck noodle soup etc. at local prices not tourist prices on the beach. A good local market etc . Cheaper accom is found just block off the beach. Taxi to airport from Nai yang, is 200 baht, taxi from the airport to Nai Yang they want 400 baht, (taxi mafia at the airport) so don't pay that. Local airport bus is 30 baht runs every hr, 10-15 walk from the top odf the main rd to most accom places, See bar is good on the beach front for a good friendly local drink. Good coffee is hard to find on the beach strip, slow drip coffee, at the south end is good. Jen house off the beach is very good (near title) and slate hotel. Plenty of 7/11 and food stalls.

Very good information. Much appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to share with everyone. I prefer going to these beaches to the north over the south anymore. Fewer crowds and still amazing beaches.

Are there sunbeds for hire or do they belong to the hotels?
