  • I thought I'd make this little side by side comparison of the Alpha Omega and the B7K since I've been asked a lot about recommendations. Obviously both sound incredible so it's just a matter of finding the right distortion flavour that speaks to you the most.

    Even thought the fairest comparison would be with the Ultra version of the A/O, this is by far the best showcase i’ve ever heard. It shows clearly that beefy but punchy kind of sound vs the tight attack of the B7ku. Thanks for sharing! 🙌🏻

    Just wanted to say I was checking some other videos doing these comparisons and your sound mix ran thru a full house PA with subwoofers covered the most range and gave a TRUE comparison how these pedals compared sonically. Thank you and very well done!

    Thanks for the great videos, great playing and nice way to A/B the two pedals. I ended up with a b7kuv2 at the end of the chain and an alpha omicron into it. Yeah, it can get hairy but in a nice way. Loving it! Keep it up man!!

    I have the exact two pedals and I totally agree with you: the AO is perfect for those low gain sounds. It's my "always on", amp-simulating preamp while the B7K Ultra is my all-out shiny distortion.

    I have the AO and a B7Kv2. The B7K is my '"always on" -pedal. The AO comes next to it (after) I use this for more like a booster

    Thanks for examples , very nice video. I actually have both of them alfa Omega ultra & b7k ultra. I connect b7k in alfa Omega. So my overdriven tone comes s from b7k to alfa Omega wich I use like grafic EQ and cab Sim. The distortion side of alfa Omega I keep almost clean with high level position ,I turn it on only when I need louder sound for solo ,it works for me like a booster with some kind of overdrive.

    Very good comparison! Have you ever tried putting a eq before these pedal with a boost on mids (~1.2khz , not too narrow) and then turning up the lows on the Darkglass (or amp) to recover the "balance". The result is less amount of lows distorted, it's like blending clean signal but in a different way, more pleasant to me in mid or high gain/drive settings.

    ALPHA OMEGA is the best for me!!!

  • @howler9171
    @howler9171 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The alpha omega is the perfect balance between the B7K and the Vintage Microtubes. Turn it over to the alpha side for a more smooth vintage SVT sound, or turn it to the omega side for the clanky aggressive mesa boogie style sound. Or leave the knob in the middle for a blend of both. The AO is the clear winner. Why would you pick just one when you can have both in one box for the same price?

      Well the drive sounds quite different but you could try a blend of A and O distortion to get them a little closer.

  • @MrVyrtuoso
    @MrVyrtuoso 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I like the B7K Ultra a lot better. I like that w/the Grunt there are 3 ways to set the amount of low end that can be distorted. This makes it very versatile so that we can get farting synth to vintage to modern if going from boost to flat to cut. It has a stronger top end over the AO, and I find that easier to tame if I want less of it than having to add to the AO what top end that it didn't have to begin with.

  • @eggx-9463

    B7k sounds better in the mix, bar none, and (at least to my ears) preserves the low end, while standing out even better than the alpha omega. Don't get me wrong the alpha omega is a PHENOMENAL FUCKING pedal, but the b7k is a step above. If my b7k/u kraken was the only distortion pedal I could ever have I would still be perfectly happy.
