Thanks for explaining this so clearly. It explains why the QD-OLED looks so much better in the reds. Looked up RTings measurements and its 84 cd/m² in the C1 vs 195 cd/m² on the S95b. I am not unhappy with the C1 though, playing Persona 5 at the moment. Admittly its SDR but it looks amazing with the whole interface being red and black 90% of the time.

If I wanted oversaturated colors I would have went out and bought Samjunk, I mean Samsung because they are the kings of oversaturation when it comes to color's. You want a reference quality tv then the C1 is right up your alley and you want to make it even better then get it Pro Calibrated. Great video Plasma Tv as always.

Lol. Yeah, when I "fix" the red on my LG C2, the picture looks horrible. I'll just keep it how it was. Not sure why anyone would want the red to clip at the same level as the rest of the colors, just to mess up the entire picture.
Did the same on the Hisense too.

you can reduce the luminances of the rgbcym to raise where the colors clip too, didn't seem to have much of an effect on the overall saturation of the colors either. When i first got the cx i did it using a calibration video on youtube but ended up finding out the video wasn't displaying correctly anyway. I forgot about it until seeing this video, going to see how it looks using these proper color clipping patterns. Thanks for all the work and research you've put into this, i used to use dtm on for most games because hardly anything has proper hgig, but now with the secret menu and checking the cll with screenshots, dtm off is so much better, its like making your own hgig

It shouldn't that was an issue on older LG panels, but not on the c1. Go to your color management, choose custom and then choose the red color. Then the tint option allows you to make it closer to the primary. So you'd make that number larger. So it'll just effect your reds

After months of researching and messing with settings for color clipping, and white/black clipping..
I think I found the perfect setting.. at first took time to get used to the difference from what we were used to... But playing a game for an hour then going back to what we are used to, you'll hate the old way of playing.
This is for ps5 on an LG 42 OLED,
First of, idk but everyone says don't mismatch rgb levels but I did, and I'll explain why.. when both set on automatic and causes blacks to be near crush, so therefore put ps5 on limited, and tv on full.. you'll instantly see everything get washed out but black gets lifted. Don't worry.. we'll fix that.
Now.. put black level on 47.. and set "tone mapping to on" .. hgig causes white clipping.. trust me..
Now put color down to 20 or 25 max lol.. yes you read that right, 20 to 25... You'll see how terrible it looks.. make sure color gamut is on native.
Now the magic to make everything beautiful... On game optimizer screen, put picture as sports then black level at 7 and white level should be on 6.
Now try a few games and see for yourself.. you might have to tweak it a little because not all displays are the same.
After an hour playing.. you'll notice a huge difference once you get used to it..
Playing on Apex, your aim is better since there is no color clipping and over saturation that causes color bloom that makes it harder to see when shooting (gun flare)
Let me know what you think..

    • @TH3PROF3SSjONAL
      @TH3PROF3SSjONAL 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Btw, having rgb levels the same caused white clipping while making everything really dark.. I tested this out on a clipping test.. and color on 20 also on a test.. everything has been tested.
Y'all shouldn't have clipping at all from color, black and white.. soon as you change a setting.. you'll mess it up.. including switching to hgig which causes white clipping..
Took a year to figure this out.. so hope y'all like it and happy new years

    • @TH3PROF3SSjONAL
      @TH3PROF3SSjONAL 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Oh, I'm really sorry I forgot to mention, when setting ps5 HDR, you must have rgb settings both on automatic and tv black level at 50, and use hgig.
This is only for calibration then after doing that.. then go use my settings.. never calibrate without hgig or you'll have very bad results

      Yes test it!
You were on right track.. but lowering color and using sports is huge . While using tone mapping and everything else I mentioned.. blacks are not washed out and neither is color, everything looks natural.. and best thing out of all of it.. you see every single detail meant to be seen.. nothing is clipped.
I replaying all my games over again.. and let me.. man... It's absolutely beautiful.
Just got to get used to it for an hour.. I promise when you go back to your old setting.. you'll hate your old setting.
Please let me know what you think.. I've done months of testing to find this out

Have you tried to watch a HDR movie using BFI + w11 HDR slider 100% + secret menu using 540nits?
When I open I movie with VLC or Windows Media Player classic, it destroys my black+white+color saturation config.
VLC gives a test pattern result different than Media Player classic too.

My TV actually makes the image shown on the TV in this video look great. As for max saturation that's still somewhat accurate feeling, I'd say it's probably around 55 or so for most high-end TV's (regardless of panel type). Might be able to push it a little bit higher depending on TV and exact settings.
Also, you are completely wrong about blue light. That's a complete lie, just marketing bull. There is absolutely 0 scientific evidence the the amount of blue light that comes from screens (phones, TV's, etc) have any detrimental effect on your health. The amount that comes from displays simply doesn't come close to being able to cause any harm. Reducing blue light in screens or using a blue light filter is pointless and just makes the image look awful.

Still, I tried settings that others considered accurate for my TV for themselves (after professional calibration) and although the optimal settings are of course slightly different depending on the exact TV unit and environment... I can't say I liked it all that much. I just went back to factory settings and then tweaked myself for an image that I felt was accurate (it probably isn't, but to me it feels the best).

You just answered 3 different questions I've had about the C1/C2 in one video. I don't know how you come up with the time to do these deep dive comparisons for us, but I really appreciate it! If I had more time, I'd do some of this for my own personal use, but I've been really busy, so thank you again!
A question I've seen come up for the C2 (which may be similar with the C1 since they use the same panels in a lot of cases) is using the 'Native' color gamut option on PC in SDR instead of 'Auto' to get potentially more accurate color from Windows without using a custom color profile/colorimetry settings (using the PC input label of course). Do you have any thoughts on this or direct comparison information at all? This is something I've been really curious about, and you talking about the 'Native' vs 'Auto' for HDR reminded me of it.

Here are a couple of links to threads discussing this, I hope I don't get flagged. If so, I apologize.

Using Native color gamut over SDR is incorrect and inaccurate because the SDR color space is rec709 and Auto clamps the color gamut correctly to rec709. Native color gamut is DCI P3 and it will definitely look overly saturated but if you like it now go for it. At the beginning I was loving Native coming from a Plasma TV that doesn't clamp the color gamut on SDR and goes beyond rec709 but I no longer like it. It's like studying music, there's a point where you need More sophisticated Classical music or Jazz and popular music no longer works

@@plasmatvforgaming9648 What you say reflects what one of the commenters was saying. That 'Native' color gamut was ~99% vs 'Auto' ~93%, but saturation was well over 100% using Native. I've played with both a bit, and while Native does improve the gamut, I find it over saturated, personally. I'd like to have a more accurate image with my C2 on PC, looks like I'd probably have to calibrate, and I don't want to, haha!
I'm looking forward to your next video discussing your thoughts on calibration. Thanks for your response!

@@hardlytech9072 Native does "oversaturate" the colors, on HDR games, you should not put it in Native, keep it to Auto, or change it to Dynamic. For SDR games though, firstly don't run SDR games in HDR using the Auto HDR function, it washes out the colors really bad.
For SDR games change the temp to 25, and the depth to 50. For HDR you want to use W40 or 0. I say 0 if you have problems with your eyes like astigmatism. HDR is much better looking than SDR, for some reason, SDR is too bright, not from a pixel brightness, but more so from the blacks. I ended up having to increase my screen brights to 65 in SDR, to get a better overall image.
The one thing to look out for with Auto is if the colors on a sports team are not accurate, then you need to switch to Native. Many TVs have issues with the bright yellow of the LA Lakers court in NBA2k. If you have it on Auto, it doesn't look like it would normally look like if you were sitting at the game, you have to then put it into native. You can also use Adobe settings if you know how to calibrate your set for that with Adobe RGB, but unless you're a graphic designer I wouldn't mess with that.

Bro it def change the clipping when u are increasing and lowering screen brightness. The higter u go u dont see it the lower u go, you can see it. Between 350 and 500. The red of the tv reacts the same as a red flashlight or a rgb led light. U can barely see true it. Every thing is blurry, maybe cuz your eyes cant monitor it. As a example build a rgb led light under your gaming desk, and turn on the red light. It is very destracting for your eyes. All objects in the room are blurry effect. Blue is also distracting for your eyes. Yellow purple pink white green etc doesnt have this effect so much on the eyes. Red light and blue light are really hard to perceive the objects etc around u in a room.

Why is it that blue and red neon lighting is difficult to see clearly in the dark? Other colors of neon lighting are clearly visible at night without any problems. It only works if I squeeze my eyes very hard.
The source of the difficulties is that light of different colors is refracted or deflected to different degrees by lenses, such as the lens in your eye. Blue light and red, especially violet light are deflected more strongly than the other colours.
