That's a great roundup of coats and jackets! Thank you for this review. I love that Vogue one in the long length. With the exception of the collar, it looks like an easy sew with the patch pockets. I have made the Cambria Duster TWICE now, so I can vouch for this one. I would love to sew the Cambria one in a cream wool like the Duchess of Sussex wore to her engagement. The sleeve is slightly dropped so it goes in easy. I also made the collar in a contrast fabric and that was fun too. The sleeve length is shorter so I add length to it so I can still fold it up.
OMG I got that New Look pattern 6585 and did the short coat first, I put embroidery on the sleeves, made it out of fleece fabric and OMG it was easy easy. It didn’t call for buttons or a belt but you can add those items to it.
🤣🤣🤣 that was me last year when I lived in Oregon! There are essentially two sides of Oregon that is divided by a national forest. The west side near Portland get a ton of rain year round, while the east side, where I lived, is basically a desert! It's hot and dry, barely rain or have a winter. I wanted so badly to make a wool coat when I was living there, but it would've been pointless. This year I live in Indiana. So definitely making a wool coat! Anyways! Welcome to the channel! Happy sewing! 😊
Just what I needed to see. I need to tackle doing a winter coat. There are a couple of these that I am interested in doing. I will have to take a look at them. Thank you.
That's a wonderful pattern! When I was making this list I thought of all my fellow sewists who live in warmer climates. I'm happy to hear you found a coat/jacket on this list that suits your needs. Happy sewing! 😊
I’ve been meaning to make that S9239 jacket. I love the sleeves on it. I also love that Vogue pattern. It looks great in that blue and white fabric on the cover. Thanks for sharing these ideas!
Thanks for watching, Crystal! I had fun looking at all these jacket and coat patterns and deciding on which patterns to feature. So it was a pleasure! I think you would look so good in a version of that S9239. Can't wait to see what kind of outwear you make thus year!
You love to sew dresses but I love to sew coats. I love this list. I have to ask: you sound southern, yet your vlog is named "Crumpets, tea and Sewing". Where do you find crumpets in the south? I lived in Ga for years and I couldn't find them anywhere.
This is a great list, I didn't realize the Sienna jacket from Closet Core had that belt! I have to try that and of course the Friday Pattern Company Duster. But I might be too late for that this season, but for sure have to put them on the list for next year.
Hi Alex! If you sign up for the free trial on the Creative Bug website and watch the tutorial for the Camria Duster, you'll get the pattern for free. That's how I got a copy. Thanks for watching! I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the list!
@@crumpetsteaandsewing You lucked out, they no longer give out the pattern free, which is ok. The designer has to make money too. But this video was great, I need to save it because I can see myself making a few of these. Perhaps the duster in a linen and wear it come spring time.
Looking at the McCall pattern 7511 sew easy pattern what pattern would you recommend that still easy but a full length style with long sleeves Must have the hood. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
The Simplicity S9388 is a shacket pattern. Perfect for Fall. And it's part of the September Sew Your View challenge over on Instagram. That should be easy enough. And you can choose a variety of different fabrics.

These are some awesome selections. I would definitely consider S9187.
Thank you! I'm thinking about that pattern myself. 🤔 so many great coat options out there. It's hard to choose one. Thank you for watching!

Hi Carol! This is good to hear! I'm so glad you were able to find something you're incredibly in making. Happy sewing! 😊
Good selection!
Thank you! 😊
I really like the McCalls pattern with curved hemline. I live in Tucson and our winters are mild, so I don't need a big coat. Thanks for sharing!

Haha! I'm not southern (not really). I'm from New Jersey

That’s a good list. You planning to make any of these?
Thank you! I haven't decided for sure. Although S8742 is at the top of my list.
I would like to follow you doing McCalls 7877, I love color blocking.
I like V1758. Did you try it? I cannot find it online anymore. Is it still there?
