I sent a lengthy reply regarding where I'm at just now with this myself, but it didn't post. Suffice it to say, we'd have plenty to talk about over a coffee or tea. It is cruelty. One such as myself...we do this until it breaks our bodies prematurely, then for those of us who've ever had any integrity at all, there is really insignificant resources. I have worked jobs of service all my days, and am now facing losing it all due to injury and illness caused by the job. And I am only 49 years old. The system is set up for back when people only lived to be like 60 or something. Kids are acting out because they're not being allowed to be kids in school or at home. And I just want to create.
This breaks my heart, Melinda!😭 You and so many others are such beautiful, talented souls. No reason for any of us to be struggling in a world so abundant. Makes me so mad. I'm sending you a huge hug and hoping we can both find our path to the freedom to create... One that we so rightfully deserve. 🩷
I used to be a musician on a cruise ship. I worked 4 hours an evening and it was the happiest time of my life. I ended up leaving the ship and before i knew it i was working 9-5 to survive in society and it drained all my creativity as a musician. Eventually i saw the light and gave it all up. I gave up money and stress to get my creativity back. Now i just swim, surf and play my guitar ... every day is a mental health day now 🥰🎸
One of your best videos yet. I wish we could at least get 30-hour work weeks. However, we may need another social upheaval for it to happen - just like the pandemic lead to increases in remote and hybrid work. Hopefully, it won’t be something as severe as the pandemic to make that change though.
This video is very important. Your perspective is 🔥 I 100% share the same view that why I’m also trying to make the TH-cam thing my main “career” because the normal grind seems unnatural in so many ways. I have actually felt hesitant to say what you said so thank you 🙏
Amen to everything you said here. I think an even larger rabbit hole for this is unraveling the labor laws / mindset that enable things to continue as they are. There's a ton of "generational curse" in how we got here. In 2024, we're literally having to argue the merits of work from home vs return to office despite experiencing the benefits of the former. As for the numbers (views and exposure), there are many great messages out there but the media that carries these messages is flawed and getting results is like trying to start a fire with green wood. There's a lot of equally great content with different results. I think collabs work, even bringing together different TH-camrs who cover similar topics into streams. And it definitely helps when the voices for change come from the community of those who are subject matter experts at 8-5 culture
Couldn't agree more. Very admirable going against the normalcy bias and saying what needs to be said. Seems like more and more people are getting to their breaking point.
One of the main reasons I could do 40 hour work week for many years, was the time I could spend in the gym around lunch time. That kept me physically and mentally healthy. I also massively enjoyed the quality time with some co-workers. I believe in maximizing your energy level instead of just spending hours on the job. Despite the "non-productive" breaks, I could do the work which used to be done by three full-time employees.
Glad you found a way to make it work for you, Baaf!🤗 Some can, and then there are those of us who just can't no matter what we do or try. Makes me think we weren't meant to be doing that kind of work to begin with. Life has a funny way of pushing us into our purpose.
Unless there is a paradigm shift, most of humanity labors to live and lives to produce a service or product of which humanity consumes. In most societies, people that fail to produce are liabilities or “useless eaters” according to those in charge. Note: I am self-employed, and I feel that I work more now than when I worked for an employer.
Paradigm shift, yes, that is what I would love to see. A shift in the modern workforce. More heart, more humanity, more grace. But of course this is coming from an ENFJ, so my idealist heart always wants a brighter, better world for all.
@@RebeccaPebble Hope may be idealistic. Your idealism is necessary so that we can survive, persevere, and maybe enjoy that dream of a better tomorrow , if not for us, but the children- for of such are the kingdom of heaven.

I heard they were trialling 4 day work weeks in the uk and the result was quite positive, not sure what the situation is with that now tho
That would be lovely! Good on the UK! 👏
I want to say many words here 🙏 probably best if… well, most everyone starts to learn to self support, I’ll just say. For… reasons.
Yikes! I can only imagine the reasons. I would ask, but I'm scared you see a future that I may not see coming.
