What a superb video of engines attacking the climb out of Holyhead. 46229 and 4771 that are no longer runners are great to see. Thank you for putting it all together. 😊

As a schoolboy i remember seeing most of these loco`s actually working.
Now i live in North wales a few hundred yards from the line i never miss them.
What happy days brought back, even the smell, pity it cannot be bottled.

Great filming! Was interesting to see how each loco did with the gradient and was good to see Scotsman working hard which you don't see very often barking away like she was.
I did like the sound the Duke was making!

Wonderful. Superb video. Britannia and Flying Scotsman slowly accelerating round that curve and up that gradient while letting off steam with a full load behind was a sight to behold. Thank you for the views of those masterpieces of British engineering. Rmb

A very good compilation. Some of the smaller engines, like the King Arthur, do very well. 6201 struggles on greasy rails. And how nice Flying Scotsman looks in apple green with a single chimney, even if it is not strictly authentic.

Astonished by Class 5 locos pulling 12 coaches up that steep gradient, a tribute to the loco crews skill.

One can tell the Duke by the very sharp exhaust note! from the Caprotti valve gear

FS looked and sounded so much better with a single chimney. But the winner of best departure goes to 4771 Green Arrow.... absolutely fantastic 👏🏼 👌🏼

1 in 75 from the platform end bridge up to the water tower, then eases to 1 in 135 over the summit.

Bradford Exchange from the platform end was 1/50-45 for over two miles on sharply curved track. It was mindbogglingly brilliant in the 60’s !

@@kevinwalton4538 interesting. I wonder if any beat the branch out of Exeter - 1 in 37?
