Lightning Run may not be the tallest or fastest roller coaster in the country, but OMG, does it pack it loads of airtime, crazy twisting turns, and a LOT of fun!

for those worried about the squeaking. it does that because it is new and the wheels are tight to the track. most new coasters squeak for the first year or so.

This exists as good proof of how record breaking coasters don't automatically wind up being the most fun. A well planned small coaster can easily be more fun that the tallest, fastest or steepest ride.
Totally agree! This is a well-designed coaster that provides all of the air time and jostling back and forth needed for a very satisfying ride.
I once head i a wooden roller coaster designer say that he hates how most steel roller coasters really heavily on gimmicks. Like for example; "This is the tallest coaster in the world!" "Look at all these loops!" "These seats are outside the track!", and that's why i love this ride! It's a simple yet fun steel roller coaster that doesn't need to rely on gimmicks like those.

Never judge a coaster by its size! Maverick is somewhat small, but OMG does that have some power in it!
Just rode this ride this past weekend. Didn’t think it would be so awesome, I was lifted out of my seat at least 70% of the ride, and all the turns and dips were placed perfectly
the airtime humps at the end of the circuit look insane!

went and rode this today, and let me tell you... this video doesn't do it justice. absolutely amazing coaster, and even though it is "short", its packed with the drops and turns. definitely worth taking a ride on
THANK YOU for including backseat POV. I find this MUCH better than front seat - it gives you better perspective on the pitch of the drops - I personally find it more exciting to watch.
Have lived in Louisville my entire life and was so, so excited when they opened Kentucky Kingdom back up this year. I just got to ride this coaster last week and it is so much fun! Thanks for showing Kentucky Kingdom some love, TPR!!
I think we need more rides like this again at smaller parks, this is a perfect ride for this kind of park. Cedar Fair should take notice and build some of these at like Valley Fair, Michigan's Adventure, Worlds of Fun, and other smaller parks that haven't updated in a while.
This ride is amazing, and I’m very surprised they’re not more of these types of coaster around the world. Smooth, great pacing, amazing ejector air time.
looks fun because it keeps a lot of that momentum throughout the whole ride. Although it is small that speed with all those twists and turns makes it a fun ride
Lightning run is an I tense little coaster. I couldn't believe how forceful it was. Favorite ride at KK hands down.

Love the twisty design. Very action packed.I love how the lift hill starts off sleepy then wakes up suddenly at the end.
That's because it's running two trains and since the one train is on the block brake it slows down so the other train can load. On weekdays when the coaster is only running one train its full speed ahead :p!

It gets so fast the closer you are to the drop 🙂 this was my FIRST roller coaster I had not even been on a baby ride 😂 and the drop killed me I felt 😂 but I rode it 3 more times that day 👌🏼 love it
lightning run is like one of those rides that takes influence from rmc but before rmc blew up
I never judge coasters by size. The Iron Dragon is by no means the biggest and tallest at Cedar Point, but I absolutely love it. This looks awesome!
That is a crazy intense looking coaster. Just watching it made me feel like I was being thrown around.

My Orchestra is coming in 2016. I'm a coaster enthusiast and this looks for pretty good. I can't wait to ride the new rmc there getting! This park looks solid, seeing that it reopened in 2014.

Finally rode this today. Only way to describe it “Small but Mighty.”
What a funny looking ride. Trains and Track look like some old Arrow/Vekoma coasters, but the layout looks like some mix of Intamin Mega-lites with some RMC elements. And somehow it remembers me a bit of Blue Fire, can't say why tough. But it does look like a really awesome ride with lots of little ejector moments.
Imagine if this was twice as tall :0 Would probably be one of the most intense coasters of all time

This is basically all the fun of a hyper squeezed into half the height, I’d say it’s essentially a hyper coaster despite its height at lest in terms of layout

I love this coaster! I rode it like 125 times this year! Very fun and it's right behind banshee at number 4 newest coaster of 2014!

Since I've been currently hearing a lot of squeaks on the tires of the roller coaster train, I feel like I should give this roller coaster a nickname, "Squeaky Tires: The Ride".

The roller coaster squeaks very loud. I think the ride operator would not even notice after a week on the rollercoaster a squeak in his car.
I went on this, but had my eyes closed the entire time so I have to watch this to see what it looked like.

alex bedoian Or Beast, or Steel Dragon 2000 in Japan. Beast is from the 70's and is still the longest wooden coaster in the world.
+mark40511 I leave a coaster ride thinking "it was too short" but then I consider what I might be feeling if it had lasted another 5 minutes. It could get really sickening or tedious long before those 5 minutes were up. Its good that we have to start over and wait in line just to recharge the adrenaline.
