I can sum up Mitt Romney in 2 quick stories. One is personal because I spoke with Mitt, one on one once. It was when I worked for a year at John Hancock in Boston and it's CEO David D'Alessandro was always getting exposure for Mitt Romney (such as "saving" the Salt Lake City Olympics when really, D'Alessandro and other corporate sponsors held back their cash until they got Mitt appointed). My story however, was when I spoke with him face to face after Romney claimed in a speech that "we can't afford social security". Well, all it takes is a little mathematics to prove that the Defense Department is responsible not only for the nations debt but is a massive drain of Taxpayer money. Just $1 billion in defense department spending (and they spend that hundreds of times per day) was the same as 50,000 retired people on Social Security - for a full year. Not only is the mathematics indisputable but Social Security is funded by its own Tax and therefore has zero effect on the national debt. It actually has a surplus. So what did Mitt Romney do with this newfound mathematical knowledge? Nothing. He was back to claiming that "we cannot afford social security" the very next time he ran for political office. The next story is well known about Mitt and confirmed by Mitt's son Tag. The Romney s took a family vacation before their children grew into adults, it involved driving across the USA in the family station wagon. Strapped to the top of that car was a dog carrier cage (solid sides, cage front) and the family dog inside. There are write-ups about it online, complete with a depiction of the dog cage. Th problem is that it offers NO protection from dust, dirt and worse pelting the dog non-stop for as long as that car is driving at speeds greater than 40 mph (65 kph). Tag Romney said that that dog ran away from home. No one can blame it but what kind of a person would put the family pet through all that? Answer : One that rose through the ranks at Bain Capital and became a Republican Senator, that's who. Senator Romney recently exclaimed that he had "morons in his Party" to describe people like Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz and Lauren Boebert but the whole Part is sick and twisted. It DOES remind me of Bain Consultants, of corporate lawyers, of people who have no conscience, only greed.
Agreed. Social Security and Medicare have always been considered non-discretionary spending funded by their own line item taxes on wages, so any politician that dares say that retirement payments are insolvent is either a liar or doesn't understand how taxes work
At 27:14 While the brightest minds leaving R&D, and siphoned off to cnsulting, does hurt some, the problem is that, in the absence of consulting, there would be a glut of underemployed researchers, which would be deeply felt in biomedical research, and other areas of STEM. It would make the structural issues with PhD underemployment even worse or, if it didn't for some reason, the talent landscape just wouldn't be the same...
You appear to miss the point while confusing yourself. instead of scandal resolution and/or causing, these minds can be used elsewhere. If they are unable to innovate, they can hammer widgets.
It’s funny that he never mentioned the average number of years of staying at MBB. Would you be surprised to learn that majority changes career path after 2-3 years. Most common pivots are startups, investment banking and Fortune 500 management jobs

Hab mal ein paar Wuensche fuer zukuenftige Videos zusammengetragen: 1. Joseph Flom (Mr. Takeover) vs Martin Lipton (Mr. Defense) - Two most impactful M&A lawyers of all time 2. Bruce Wasserstein - Right in the same bracket as the two above; a legend in the US takeover arena who adivsed on all major deals in the 1980s; and founding partner of Wasserstein Perella (now Perella Weinberg) 3. History of JP Morgen - First Major US Bank; Bailed out US Government multiple times; Consolidated US Railway Industry and put himself on top of it; Built US largest company US Steel; Financed UK’s 1st world war efforts; pioneered international government finance & paved way for US globalization (i.e. Europe, Japan, Mexico, Gulf etc.) ; original ‘revolving door’ between Wall Street and Washington; JPM / MS split and dominance 4. Robber Barons (mostly financed by Mike “le Goat” Milken, so kind of a sequel to that) - RJR Nabisco Takeover by KKR - Revlon Takeover by Pantry Pride (Ronald Perelman) - Philipps Petroleum and TWA Takeovers by Carl Icahn - Hostile Bids for Gulf Oil and Unocal by T. Boone Pickens - National Can and American Can Takeovers by Triangle Industries (Nelson Peltz)
So now we know who runs the world. It’s every citizen’s’ duty to find out how much their governments spend with these consultants. They have to stop using these consultants as we did not vote for them.

Excellent Content Overshadowed by Arrogant Voiceover: The video provides interesting insights, but the voiceover comes off as overly ego-driven and self-centered. Using a dramatic tone akin to a movie trailer isn't needed and actually hurts the content's credibility, making it seem like a gimmick. Also, talking down to the audience like some sort of guru is off-putting and smacks of arrogance. Despite these issues, thanks for making the video. Keep up the good work.

I think the author of this video referred to it as many big businesses work closely with consulting firms.
I think he meant Alphabet's CEO, Sundar Pichai, who worked for McKinsey.

Wow, exactly
You're 100% right, that slipped through - I'll try to mark it so that others see it.

Worked on an MBB, I can say that all consultants are not great brains

Not really 26:56. Yeah they hold diff degrees, but their job in else where is extremely low paid
