Yes, that description perfectly fits this age. It's amazing how we forget how the kids are at the beginning of the year when we begin again. They seem so much younger! I just started middle school and then I saw this video, this video really makes me want to go back to 1st grade because I really miss my teacher and now looking back at it, it just looks really fun.
I follow a couple other elementary teachers...mainly cuz I want to kind of have an insight on what my sons day may look like. And I love that you actually show yourself talking/teaching the students!
So cute!! & I'm dying cuz that kid who said he couldn't sign cuz he didn't think he couldn't agree for the cleaning 🤣🤣 & aww my heart for that shy kid! That was definitely me in school. Also love that, I'm glad u told them u made a mistake. It shows that even u make mistakes, & that's okay, u learn from it. I think it's important to point out when u've made a mistake, apologize for it, & model that u've learned from it. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

You make teaching real and you always show what the downsides can be, you normalize teaching and make it real. You are so great with the kids and it's so entertaining to watch! I loved when the kiddos were asking about Jordyn, Michael, and Ellie. They are so cute and I can't wait to follow along for this year. I taught first grade last year (for part of the year and then I got a position as a reading interventionist!) and my group was not chatty, which was nice, however there were other struggles! For many of them, it was their first time in school (my district allowed parents to opt to keep children virtual all year if they wanted) and many of them had difficulty putting on coats, opening things, and even other things such as wiping correctly after using the bathroom (I knew this because some would be stinky after using the bathroom). They needed a lot of support with basic everyday tasks, and although I didn't mind, it sure made the days a bit tiring! 😅

You're amazing at what you do! I'm in my first year of elementary ed. I'm a musician too and hope to use music to teach. Is it different for male teachers? I don't know what to do sometimes, but I'm already this far into the program. It's all too much, but I feel like God is taking me here for a reason. I don't know why.. They ask! I usually say yes but if I feel like a kid is just going to get out of work, I’ll ask them to tell me why and what they’re feeling that is making them want to calm down. Then they say Oh never mind 😂 As the year goes on they just go quietly without asking because they know when the right time to use it is.
