Me casually watching a Bob Dylan documentary because I love Bob Dylan, suddenly Patti Smith shows up and proceeds to change my life forever. This clip is absolutely staggering. Smith is THE punk rocker. The greatest of them all. Posers like the pretentious Henry Rollins or Johnny Rotten have NOTHING on the queen of punk. The poet who rules all. Patti Smith is a true inspiration, as a punk rocker, as a poet, as a musician, as a singer, but most of all as a person. I love her and always will.
@@BIG_MUNKYYou weren’t around then, so you know only what you’ve read. All guesswork and you’re spouting punk cliches after being radicalised by a YT clip of Patti Smith.
This is beyond most people's ability to know and feel what this is... This is closing your eyes as you walk out on a road with heavy traffic flowing and you end up at the other side spotless and holding the winning lottery ticket
Brilliant. Maybe some of the haters in these comments should consider these words because that's exactly what it is. She just dived right in at the deep end, the uncomfortableness is part of the thrill, and the way she manages to find her groove is pure Zen (sticking with the Japanese theme here, LOL).
I was blown away when I saw this. I wasn't too familiar with Patti Smith, but this just mesmerised me. She almost seems possessed or something. Creativity bordering corageously close to mental illness . Ive Since become a big fan of hers. A true artist.
Patti Smith was the queen of rock and roll back in the mid to late 70s. She was so fuckin' cool. She was New York City's female John Lennon if anyone knows what I mean. She is a true legend an icon. We fuckin' love you Patti. Fuck rhe clock!
watch her move in another dimension .... thing about Patti is she never did drugs ... well ... mebbe a bit of hippy pot now + then ... but just at a party + just to be sociable .... she didn't need drugs .... she was high on Rebellion !
Yes, it's called "Ain't it strange" and it's on Radio Ethiopia. She talks about how she came to do this on her Substack blog, you should read it. She was really only there to see Bob Dylan and didn't know everyone was expected to sing or recite something. She also didn't know it was being filmed.
yep "Ain't it strange" (of course it evolved a lot, but I've heard her introduce it with the story of the archer in other performances), it's on Radio Ethiopia
dostum, patti hanım videoyu substack'te paylaşmış (:
