    I get stressed every time I need to clean my portable ice maker. I always watch this and then it’s a breeze. Thanks for the great video.

    Thank you so much! I marked the approx amounts on the bottle for each cleaning and dated them for every 3 months. Then I won’t forget when I did it last.

    Instead of bothering with a spray bottle, I just use the sprayer from the sink to rinsed it all out. More pressure and less time.

    I used to white vinegar. It does take a while to to clean rents and then I’ll go through do it again the next day using lemon juice is recommended to use it anyway it is natural and if any residue is left behind while it’s slamming juice is not gonna hurt your body if you ingest it

    I have Fridgidair EFIC452 Countertop ice maker. While there is some ice melt in the front part of the machine, under the ice basket (the area where you show placing the cleaning tablet), my main water reservoir is in the back, filled from the top, behind the ice access door.
    Should I place the cleaning tablet in the back reservoir? Or should I place it in the ice melt area? All videos that I have watched show adding it to the ice melt area, but this does not make sense to me.

    I noticed scale build-up behind the scoop at the top too. Is there a way to get at that to scrub it off? Is it a problem I even need to worry about? Thanks.

    If you don’t want to wait for the ice to finish I just turned my machine off/on to start the cycle over without waiting for ice but still cycling the water.

    I was able to get most of it clean with a warm rag and new toothbrush, but the dirtiest part that I am having trouble with is the tub that holds water up to them “fingers”…..

    • @TopyBird
      @TopyBird 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I believe it would depend on the quality of water you get from the faucet. I use bottled water to play it safe, not just for the taste but to minimize mineral deposits to build up on the machine.

    I need to get some of this solution. In manually trying to clean my unit (vinegar/water), I may have screwed up the mechanical arm in trying reach water cup which appears to be mold (I think). I will be getting a self-cleaning unit soon but until then I need this unit cleaned. Thanks for your great tips!!!

      I also screwed up the mechanical arm on my machine trying to clean the white water cup under the metal ice utters. My unit no longer works, and I had to throw it out. I am considering a self cleaning machine, but so far I have not seen any videos on how they work, and the ones I do see, you still have to clean them just like these. its frustrating.

      How long did it take for you to get the vinegar taste out if the ice cubes? I've ran several cycles and the ice still tastes like vinegar.

    • @mazz869
      @mazz869 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use equal parts water with white vinegar. Run through my self cleaning cycle and then drain. Then I take a tiny bit of Dawn Dishwashing liquid and a clean cloth and use warm water and wash inside the ice maker. The. I take my sink sprayer and rinse well. Then I make ice, throw it out and rinse again and then I use it. If I need to,also descale it, I would scrub he ice prongs and behind the space behind them. Hope it helps you.

    Taste any of the solution in the ice why would you taste cleaning solution? I take my hose too with hot water and rinse the heck out of it and then run a whole basket of ice through cat but if you rinse it real well there shouldn’t be any cleaning solution left.
