- This song is one as close to me as my scars in life. It branded itself into my soul around the age of 14 and never healed. It was actually the first song I ever played Ashley on our first date, and still brings back an innocence to my spirit I can’t explain. It is by far the most important song of all time to me, and without it I wouldn’t be the artist I am.
Bob Dylan’s work pre 1965 is some of the most important songwriting in his massive history. I would consider it like an ancient prophetic text for this culture. His career has taken many strange turns and like myself you either loyally love him, or absolutely hate him. I’m in it to compete and so is Dylan 60 years after this song first released.
The greatest album of all time in my opinion and where this track lies is within is ‘The Bootleg Series Live 1964’ with Joan Baez. This track will make the hair stand up I’m the back your neck if listened to in solitude on a cold night. There’s even a part where Dylan and Baez forget the lyrics and tease each other laughing. It was unavailable for streaming almost all my life and just recently was included in the online catalog. Go give the entire album a listen and be prepared for lowfi sound, out of tune guitars and imperfection. I hate to even turn people onto it so I can keep it to myself, but it’s just too damn good.
Ben you look like a 20 year old kid…just so much healthier it seems. Good for you my friend
Lol he's Benjamin Button now.
^^^😂 classic
I thought someone must be singing with Benjamin on this one at first. So happy for him.
I'm looking to get sober soon myself. I went to a show of his in Detroit this year. I even picked up a couple of records. A few weeks ago, an old warrant came up when I was pulled over. I go for an interview for drug court soon. I'm 45 and haven't done time since my 20s. But I've never been truly sober. I'm down to light beer daily. The last 2 years.
I beat the oxi's, the heroin, the benzo's , the vodka.
I'm am on light beer now.
This charge is a defining moment in my life. If drug court does not except me.
I'm looking at a couple. More year in state prison.
Pray for me.
Shit Ben. Tell me how to handle this.
Anyway, it goes. I'll take it on the chin like a man.
Anyone reading this, please tell me some decent advice.
@@jessedevilbiss8436 Breathe About It 💯♾️‼️ Exhale First as a Rule when ever you are feeling off get it out; let it go….. Breathe Forward through it an it will bring you to a solution! Sounds simple, however I assure you it has never Once let mi down 🙏🏼

Ben thanks for this 🫶🏼
Legend singing a legendary song
This is really pretty, man. Good job
I can’t believe that you don’t have more recognition than this at this point. I think you’re one of the better country singers in the business right now.
Love this cat so much. And doing it all his own way.
All the songs sung by Benjamin Tod are always wonderful ! 🇧🇷🇩🇪🇺🇸🌹
Man I found Benjamin Tod when I went down a folk music/underground country type rabbit hole that spun off my listening to Bob Dylan, to hear him cover one of the greatest folk artists of all time is perfection. I’ve listened to this song a good 20 times or so the last few weeks.

amazing dude. I clicked the thing to get a message when you upload more.
This is one of my favorite songs. I love Bob Dylan's version. I love Jeff Buckley's version. And now I can add Benjamin Tod's version.
He could cover any stupid pop song and I'd listen to it. He never disappoints.
You are the man.
Thank you for the lesson
Ben that was a beautiful cover. thank you
Instant tears. So fucking beautiful.
I hope you're doing alright Ben. God bless you.
This is the first thing I saw when I opened up my phone after my mom passed on 1-1-24. Thank you @benjamintodmusic.

Thank you for coming to Detroit. I drove down to see you there. I even picked up a couple of records from you.
I haven't added to my vinyl collection is some time.
His head has gotten so huge, he's a sell out at this point
I've loved Dylan and Baez as long as I can remember. Such a big part of my life, as your music has also in these last few years. Thanks for a great version of an awesome song ❤
My favorite living artist. I feel literally every single word he’s ever put out. And don’t sleep on the little missus. She’s a slayer with that fiddle.
Good to see the homie Benjamin back at it again. Check out the background. He's inspired me to play his songs. And now I will learn this one. Capo on the 5th...
Hello Benjamin, good cover nice guitar,
Got my self involved to buy a 1964 Guild Troubadour/
Love it, glad to see you still CRUSHING it!
really like how you merge the original and george harrison’s in this cover
I would love to hear your take on Dylan’s Going Going Gone.Seems like you would knock it out of the park
Bob Dylan said to tell you thanks. 😊
Another best Ben Tod 👍🙂🙏
Amazing job bub. Always makes my ears feel happy
That was wonderful! I have only heard that song from the 1975 Rolling Thunder Review version with Bobby and Joan Baez. I really dug this one. So much so that I will be finding the music and lyrics tomorrow (I think I have them in a Dylan songbook). I play gigs around Taiwan featuring an American vibe. I appreciate when fellow musicians introduce me to or remind me of cool songs to play. Thanks and once again, great job!
One James Hetfield ,"Yeaaaaah!!!!," for my good friend Benjamin whom I've never met but know so well sangin' Bob Dylan how it was meant. You're looking sharp Ben, as my WWII Gear Uncle would tell me. I was a tortured soul growing up, as a young man, and as an adult until about for years ago after a great fall, my final rock bottom. It was then I had to either change how I thought, as I had been sober for 8 yrs then but was more miserable than before when opium chose my way for me. So I gave someone else the reigns for a bit until i could buy in to what they were selling, and I did. My old man reminds me of your grandpa Ben, he was a pastor I rebelled against hard against living in Appalachia, and he's the one after all was broken and done helped me start over. Four years later he's 74, losing bad to cancer and not long for this world, maybe not even the month, but bc held my head up out the water when he did I've been able to care for him and my mom who just found out the other day has a mass in her brain after recently her health went downhill fast at 72. I'm 39, feel 63 in my body, but my mind is strong again I Believe. If it weren't for my Father, a lot of Grace, and many a sleepless night your music I wouldn't have made it. So for the part you played I preciate it.
Wonderful rendition, Ben!
Thank you as always. Always a great day when I see you’ve posted another video
😭💚✌
Keep up the work my friend!!
SOUNDS GREAT Ben! 👍You are an inspiration! Happy New Year.
You are an amazing talent Sir. Keep doing what you are doing. respect to you. You touch the heart of this 72 year old.
I usually HATE covers but god dammit man this was good!!! Lol sounds like a completely different song and I loved it!! 🤷♂️👍
The quality of stuff Dylan left on the shelf during this period is mind blowing
I can hear how this song influenced your style. Amazing
Really slick cover Ben. Looking forward to catching you and Ashley Mae live again next time you make it out to the west coast. Happy New Years m’boy 🎉
Nice man!
Woo!

Great cover! Dylan is a fucking legend
You might read and respond, people listen to and appreciate your artform, that is worthy of your attention 💔
I only like bob Dylan when Benjamin Tod sings it .
I have to know what guitar you are using for this! I've always seen you using what I think is the LG-1, but this looks much older and I can't tell but I have to know!
Nice version mate. I love to hear what you are doing 🫡
I know your music because of my daughter who was also a musician and song writer from a young age, she knew of you very early on because she was living as a traveler for many years between the southwest and pacific northwest, and also rode the rails and spent lots of time in colorado and oregon, she had such an ear, there are so many artists i would have never known existed if not for her...for you i am most grateful, bob dylan was a huge influence of hers also, she lives on through her own music and music that she loved and covered, but also through the music she exposed us to that we continue to listen to in her absence, and even songs that were not published before her passing...she would have appreciated this particular dylan cover very much, especially because it was performed by you and i know she would have completely connected with and related to the sinifigance this song had on your own music and the trajectory of your life❤
How’d you get sober brother? Working on it now. Hanging my hat up on punk rock. It’s time to chill on sht
Hey Ben what “key”‘is your harmonica in?
That harmonica sounds good. What brand and key?
Note he has not responded, so sad
@@tammybowden9481 haha it’s all good. He has the capo on 5th fret so I kinda just figured it’s in key of A.. but wish I knew the brand. It’s sounds so damn nice

Your Dylan and Townes covers are goosebumps producing sons of bitches. I adore your sound homie
Bob Dylan was an amazing song writer, terrible musician lol. Ben definitely makes this song great
Amazing talent, but you need to have an acoustic background. It's not doing it for you that way
Tactical haircut Ben was 1000% on my 2024 bingo card🤙🫡
FYI-if you saw any of my other comments sorry in advance Lol I’m in Taylor county, local blacksmith. Technically I made you and the wife matching fixed blades 5+ years ago but couldn’t ever figure out where to send em Lol if you’ve still got a pile of burnt barn debris in the way, come spring I’ll happily help ya for free!! In exchange for alittle of the wood and some steel in the pile. Also, you gotta take these knives and do something with em haha 😂 skin a deer, cut a steak, throw em, WHATEVER!!! Lol 👍

Great work Ben! After reading your descripton, I took a little look at "The Bootleg Series Live 1964" tracklist and saw it had two of my favorite Bob Dylan songs(Don't think Twice and The Times They Are a-Changin). Thanks for sharing! It was great to hear these song again, and in a more raw way.
