  • Thule's range is extensive and expands from roof racks and bicycle carriers to laptop bags and running strollers.
However, it is only natural for riders to sometimes make a mistake on the correct way to use certain equipment in the range.
A Thule representative explains one of the common mistake riders tend to make with the Thule Xpress 970 bike carrier.

I was concerned about the security of the fitting. It looked like someone could just pull the lever and take the entire device off the towbar and walk away with it. So I'm very glad you pointed out the eyelet for a padlock to fit in. This has now set my sights back on this product, and I will be getting one. Thank you!

Your point is a fantastic one.
I see so many not using this feature.
Wish you had included a practical demonstration also.

How do you stop the bike rack from moving? Mine latches onto the 2” towing ball with good strength, but the rack still moves enough that i don’t feel comfortable placing a bike on it. (I can move the rack on X and Y access with enough force - it shouldn’t moved at all.)

I just picked mine up and had my doubts about initially. But I took it on some corrugated dirt roads for a test run. No issues. I was very impressed with the strength and versatility of this unit.

You mention the mistake, but you do not show how to do it with a real bike? This is TH-cam and you just use words? This video seems made for people who know already how to fit a bike to the plastic holders. People who didn't know before the video, still don't know afterwards.

I'm a 60 year old women and love cycling. I just purchased this bike rack online. It is too difficult for me to push the bar down to lock the bike rack onto the tow bar. Neither of my daughters (22 yrs, and 25 yrs) can do it either. Please make a Thule Express for WOMEN! thanks

Thank you, that was the comment I was looking for. I'm the same age and worried about that. So this one isn't for me. It always looks so easy when men do it

Have you and your daughters considered finding a strong man to do it for you ?

Use a tool to hammer it into position. Perhaps a weighty rubber hammer so as to not damage the black plastic shell of that push down bar.

why don't you mention the fact that carrying a bike this way may block either the number plate and or lights. In that case a person needs a light bar. But you don't say this. Very naughty
