Cobra Kai is an American martial arts comedy-drama streaming television series and a sequel to the Karate Kid's original movie directed by Robert Mark Kamen. The series was created by Josh Heeld, John Harwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, who repeated their roles as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence in the 1984 movie The Karate Kid. Thirty-four years later, the Cobra Kai examines the story of "Miyagi Verse" from Johnny's point of view, his decision to reopen the Cobra Kai Karate Dojo, and the resurgence of his old competition with Daniel. The Cobra Kai also plays Courtney Henggeler, Xolo Mariduena, Tanner Buchanan, Mary Mouser, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni Dechenzo, Martin Kove, Vanessa Rubio and Peyton List. Netflix acquired the series in June 2020 and released the third season on January 1, 2021. Netflix expanded the series to the fourth season, released on December 31, 2021. This series is a direct sequel to the four original films of The Karate Kid franchise, focusing on the characters of Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence, more than 30 years after the original film. There are 12 protagonists in the season, nine of which are back from the previous season, two are added to the main cast after being repeated in the previous season, and one is a newcomer to the series that repeats the role from the franchise. In S2, I like how Miguel didn’t have the role as the main character (as he was in S1). In S2 onwards, the writers wanted to expand upon other characters (mainly Robby, Sam, Eli, Demetri, Kreese, and Tory).

Yeah, season 5 felt so much shorter than all the other seasons, and there were a lot of workers that didn’t get fully explored, or got rushed through, like the Tory and Kreese arc, and even the expansion of the dojo with the new senseis

That's my reasoning anyways. I think it makes sense. Season 5 wasn't my favorite, that's for sure. But it was for reasons other than Silver's defeat.
Too many characters was the main problem I feel. Making certain supporting tertiary characters suddenly MAIN characters.....Hurt the story in my opinion (Kenny and Devon Lee, especially).
Kenny was a supporting character for Robby, and he did a good job playing that role in S4, showing how Robby trying to help a kid by bringing him into Cobra Kai....had the reverse effect. Good story telling I thought.
Suddenly making this 4 ft tall scrawny child the MASTER apprentice of the Cobra Kai dojo, capable of taking on main characters who were CHAMPS in previous seasons of years of training, in a couple short months....and learning Silver's signature move overnight.....bad story telling.
Devon Lee was just an hilarious character in previous seasons. A funny supporting contrast to Johnny. She was comic relief, and she was excellent at it.
Suddenly in S5....she's got a tragic backstory, a HORRIBLY rushed and nonsensical bonding with Torry over like....5 minutes of screen time together.....If that. Culminating in an extremely awkward joining of Cobra Kai....and an extremely awkward betrayal of them too. Bad story telling.

actually, i would like to point out that miguel is NOT back to 100% in season 4. not even by the finale as stated by johnny in their convo bfor the countdown. and yea ur theory about him not being able to do the kick is confirmed when he spoke with sam. he was physically fine and could fight technically despite there still being some risk as we see him holding his back bfor his convo with johnny, but he himself said he felt like he wasnt fighting for himself anymore. tho s5 miguel should be much more op with all these issues completely gone hopefully

How he internationally injured him
Basically Tori became everyone's enemy due to Sam. Pretty much the fact that Sam was going out with Robbie and still tried several times to speak with Miguel in a romantic or nostalgic way talks about how messed up that character really is, also she basically threw Robbie's progress with his father through the window due to hiding her relationship with Miguel and then hiding his relationship with Robbie. Miguel and Robbie would not become enemies if it was not due to Sam, even the big conflicts between Miyagi Do and Kobra Kai would not have escalated as much since basically the leaders of the conflict were Robbie and Tori fueled by rage due to Sam's betrayal.

Hey Tylearn, good video!! I think in season 4 there relationship was kind of strained when he wanted to learn Miyagi do's defensive style. I hope they reconnect and Johnny just lets him fight his own way. And mends the relationship between Robby and Miguel.

In my opinion, Cobra Kai would be perfect with 7 seasons. I feel like S6 should expand on more of the character relationships and be one long training arc for everyone to showcase their growth before the Sekai Tekai in S7.
Robby in particular deserves a clear , major victory whether it be in a smaller tournament in preparation for the main one or in a rematch with a friendly yet serious Miguel , with no beef this time around. The series ending with Miguel winning the Sekai Tekai would be perfect after that.
Great video! I don’t think the people who were talking about Miguel being “nerfed” are haters. That’s just the fans themselves because I read comments and seen videos where they complained about Miguel being nerfed. Sometimes the fans don’t know what’s best for the show just because they have high expectations such as wanting to see Miguel be the 2x champ even though we’ve already seen Daniel as a two time champ. Why copy and paste like Star Wars the sequel trilogy after the original? That would be lame, predictable, and lazy. He doesn’t have to win a tournament to define his fighting status. People can go both ways with this argument. One would say, if you see the injury, go after it as long as it's legal. On the other hand if its legal or not, it can be a dishonourable thing to go after an injury and the victory can be tainted.

guys know other guys. miguel knew exactly why robby was there. robby is not sam's "friend." and its made clear in season 2 and miguel pointed it out to sam in the roller rink. then miguel returned the medal of honor that he never stole and sam kissed him when she was drunk. its always been sam and miguel. robby is just jealous that miguel has johnny and sam. and miguel was upset sam wouldnt introduce him to her family and then he sees robby there and then sees him again with sam.

I finally found someone who thinks season 4 miguel is stronger than season 2.
As much as I love Miguel, season 4 Robby from the tournament would destroy Miguel. But only if he was fully in it. When Hawk won, it was only because he got distracted by Kenny, without that, Robby would be the winner. Now in season 5 he’s been very weakened and doesn’t care about karate as much.

I think that miguel and S4 and S2 are basically the same. the reason why robby and hawk outskill him is because they were still growing and improving whereas miguel was trying to get his former strength back. Yes he may have learned both styles but it'ssafe to say he learned principle of miyagi do more than their techniques. hence why he didn't use any of the techniques but daniel stille praised him for circling his opponent (Principle). When season 5 miguel fully recovers and starts growing again. having skill comparable to hawk and robby.

Let’s just put it out there. We can’t validate Miguel’s win against Robby in season 1, because Robby was injured and Miguel used that to his advantage. In season 2, Robby was unbalanced after Daniel basically disowns him and then Robby finds out in front of the whole school that his girlfriend cheated on him with his karate rival that’s also being trained by his estranged father. Needles to say, that left Robby a little pissed and that made his Miyagi-do far less effective. In season 4, Robby could’ve obviously beat Hawk but hesitated because of Kenny. The only valid win I give Miguel against Robby is in season 5. I do think it’s clear Miguel is the better fighter at this point. But I do think Robby will redeem this loss at the Sekai Taikai, winning the world tournament. Robby is simply just the most well rounded. He has the blood of Johnny Lawerence, and he’s been trained by Daniel, Kreese, and Silver. I assume in season 6 we will also see him learn some from his father. Which means Robby will basically have every fighting style shown so far except for Chozen’s.

You can't use being drunk as an excuse for behavior. Alcohol is cool and fun but it is your own responsibility to be in control of yourself. You saying to excuse Miguel's behavior because he was drunk is like saying it's ok to be an asshole if you are drunk.
Miguel is a great young man, but I saw change out of him as the serious and seasons went on. Him and Robby may have one or 2 more fights, but later on they will squash their quarrel and be brother's because Johnny will be there for them both. Miguel will help Robby with Eagle Fang. He's a beast along with Robby as a team.

Robby was injured, he shouldn’t have been fighting in the first place. Miguel would’ve had to ignore a full side of Robby’s body.
