She was in such great voice during this time period....She sounds so young yet mature - her voice is just perfect here.
I think they did a really good job considering this is for children.
I like that it is done as "highlights"

It's no wonder that she was so loved by the Americans. So approachable and willing to give her time to educate children. I think it must have influenced a great many.

1972 -- I was a kid when I saw these on TV. I loved this show! It was like Kukla, Fran and Ollie but with singing. I thought Joan was beautiful.

Joan is great again. Sad so much of the music is missing.

Dame Joan is in superb vocal form, and there are fine performances by the lead tenor, baritone and basso.

Though this program was originally intended for children, grown-ups can enjoy it. And the English explanations are quite helpful to understand the plot for those who are not familiar with operas. I love to see Joan Sutherland appear as a guide
to opera here. Thanks a lot for posting this clip.

Heard her live in this in '64. I had LPs but wasn't prepared for what the record DIDN'T capture of her voice. thanks for this.

Bad singers with a so great primadonna like Sutherland. A pity!!!

I actually think the tenor is really nice, though no great tenor, of course. Grant was also a pretty good bass. I think not many divos would've accepted to join this Project and record parts of operas in funny and cute scenarios made to please children. They were probably busy with something else.

@@aprendizercomygor And besides not many of the great singers in Sutherland's time were fluent in English. They needed Anglophone singers to explain the action that occurs between each show-stopping song.
