    Excellent. I may try some Basswood for Shiitake inoculations this season. It is highly prevalent in my woods! A large Bur Oak was toppled by the winter storms and will supply most of our logs for Shiitakes this year. Cheers

    does it always need to be put in the bark area of a tree

      Yes. The bark really helps retain necessary moisture.
