Since the E92 coupe isn't a very big car and it has threaded holes for roof racks already in the roof I decided to get some 2nd hand roof racks and make them fit!
Now I can easily transport larger objects than I would have previously been able to. So now the car is more useful!!

Wish the oem ones for the e92 extend further than 38inches width. I'm looking at something extended to replace oem one unfortunately..

Oh true, it would be nice if you could buy those little pieces that I had to make from somewhere, so you could use different types of roof racks!

What's stopping it sliding back and forward?

Just the clamping pressure I’d say! I probably wouldn’t put very much weight on them just to be on the safe side!

hello, what kind of screw did you use? i want to get the screws by themselves and i found out that the screws are Metric M6-1.0x20mm type screws from official BMW. I bought that screw but it won't get past 3 turns into the thread. Any advice? Thanks

That sounds like the wrong thread, they should screw all the way in, they might be M6-1.5, I cant remember exactly though.

I made the brackets myself out of some alloy tube that I bent over and ground out, and I brought the roof racks second hand so I don't know what car they're off or meant for, sorry!

Have you thought about making some of these to sell? Or do you have more information on how to make some myself? Cheers

I haven''t really thought about selling the bits I made, I don't know what sort of load they could handle and that, but it was just some thick alloy tube that I cut and bent over and drilled a hole through and shaped it with the Dremel until it fit, it took abit as its a pretty tight fit!

Aww thank you 🙏🏼 there some sort of BBS reps, 18x9” and I don’t know the offset but if I measured them correctly I came up with +20 for the offset.
