Michael, this is brilliant, thank you! I would LOVE to see you do a similar video but all electronic albums similar to one of your recent videos featuring Autechre, Burial, etc. A deeper dive into that realm. Also, keen to know your favorite Ambient audiophile recordings. Cheers.
Great video!. Very happy to see that I have got almost all of the LPs that you showed and totally agree that they sound AWESOME!. Thanks so much for the video.
The Sinatra album sounds gorgeous, and I love the story behind it and the fact that the master tapes were stored hundreds of feet underground somewhere in Pennsylvania!
Great video Michael.👍 I've got a few of those albums, in my Jazz collection. Dave Brubeck John Coltrane Lee Morgan Wayne Shorter Cannonball Adderley Watching in 🇬🇧
Hi Mike I’m from the Uk been watching your videos for around 3 months enjoying your shows I have 3 x rumours fleetwoodmac vinyl one is double 45 TPS around 5 years old audiophile vinyl but I have just received the us palace keven gray unbelievable you are costing a lot of money please keep it up 👍
Hi Michael. The Kind of Blue UHQR editions will sell out in minutes. I would like to get one but...... I have some of those releases and they are fantastic. Excellent video Michael. Cheers JD
Micheal as always all great great Jazz records that I have in my collection except for a few....Byrd in flight is amazing !!!...will be ordering the Frank Sinatra, Helen Merrill, and Dave brubeck Time Out 45 rpm....the Blue Note Classic series are great sounding especially if you are using tube equipment....be safe enjoy....Ed in New York....😎🗽🎶🎵☕🍷🍸🥂🥃
Excellent suggestions. I wonder however where you acquire some of the US pressings as the likes of Analogue Productions can be a real challenge to source in Europe.
Great video, Michael. Nice of you showing the Frank Sinatra. Impex doesn’t have a single bad pressing, especially the three blind mice ones. Make it a 21 list, with “Misty” :)
Great vid thanks! I haven't heard of Ron Jefferson before so will check him out. My addition - "Jazz at The Pawnshop" blew me away the first time I heard it. Recorded Live in 1976.
I just wanted to thank you for a wonderful show. I enjoy your insightful and educational channel. Your love of music of a vast range of genres comes through. We share that in common, as I go through many music moods throughout the day. I enjoy that you have a very relaxing style as well. A pleasure to subscribe!
'Time Out' all the way and then Getz for dessert...buttery, silky chocolate gorgeousness! .... supreme & ballads for a nightcap (Grant Green 'Sunday mornin' is my weekend essential)
Cassette tapes are also recommended when starting an audiophile collection. To get the best out of the good well kept, undamaged cassettes, you need clean and demagnetized and lubricated tape path and Dol y NR OFF! Good cassettes sound like you are in a studio or concert hall. Big ,gutsy, full sound.
Who loves music, loves music in all formats! But I think your comment is perfect in a section directed to the "cassette". It is heading to the world of "vinyl" without making comparisons. In my case I have a collection in all formats! Tape, Vinyl, Cassetta & CD. Love music. ❤👍
Good to see you mentioned the Ron Jefferson Choir album. I found the original mono pressing years ago for €0,50 at a local market. It sure is a different kind of jazz. Sometimes I wonder why this great album isn't mentioned more often.
By the way, Michel Legrand's niece Victoria Legrand is the lead singer of indie duo Beach House. They are my favourite band I have to say. Crazy good dream pop
That's really interesting Cheers for the info! Love learning of family connections like this. I recently found out that Flying Lotus is Alice Coltrane's grand nephew
Michael - thank you very much for the excellent recommendations. Please could you kindly reveal where you get your excellent vinyl shelving from. I love how thin the shelves are! What are they made from? Thanks very much - Nick
Please tell me if there is a better sounding Mono recording than the Impex Sinatra because I would have to get it. Plus the booklet it comes with was very informative. Also, the Carole King Tapestry Mofi is done but they are releasing it as a One-Step preorders are live on their website.
Once again, an awesome selection Michael. My Herbie Hancock pick would be Takin Off. I personally find it a little more accessible than Inventions and Dimensions, but we are talking marginally. I still have to pick up the Impex Sinatra pressing. My favorite Impex release so far is Legrand Jazz. On the tone poet side, Byrd in Flight is such a great recording.
As he said, they are in a video dedicated to them. Unfortunately, it is a very small company and they are in very high demand. They will not have more for a few months though. I believe the site is Vinyl Storage Solutions.
Hi , I think I saw an Elvis album in one of your videos , have you had time to listen to it ? Did it sound good ? I have Elvis is back (1960) in many pressings (the most audiophile Elvis record ? ), Do you have it ? 🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪
A great selection, every one. I was going to suggest something from Bill Evans, but then realized there aren't any affordable audiophile versions of Waltz for Debby, or Sunday at the Village Vanguard, or much else really. Thanks for the video!
The Analog Productions "Bill Evans At The Montreux" on 45 is worth every penny, and I'm guessing that the more affordable 33-1/3 version is also very well done (and it's available). Not an audiophile-specific release, but the OJC Waltz for Debby is very good. I was happy enough with it that I posted a needle drop but unfortunately it was blocked by TH-cam. At any rate it's definitely worth getting.
Or you can just buy the CDs, many can be found used for around $5 - $10, still get great sound quality, save yourself a ton of money and still enjoy some wonderful music. At the end of the day, it's still all about the music.
I'm always looking for the absolute best sound I can get! But if it's not quite audiophile quality, it doesn't bother me too much! I don't want "perfection" , I want great sound, and the two don't necessarily go hand n hand!
If anyone wants a good sounding A Love Supreme, for not much money, try to find Wally Traugott's repressing from 1995. It has the word WALLY handwritten in the runout. It is the most extreme example I have found (as a beginner) of an LP being unquestionably superior to even the latest CD versions - which is odd for such a prestigious album. Why would MCA not be bothered to press a better CD?
Oh by the way, two further points about the WALLY pressing of A Love Supreme. I encountered a thread on a forum - maybe the Hoffman forum? - in which it was debated whether this version of ALS is all-analogue or not. It is! And we know it is all analogue because halfway through the debate someone actually emailed Michael Cuscuna himself and received a definitive response. Ain't the internet something? The second point: The WALLY pressing was mentioned by Michael Fremer in one of his articles, describing it as superior to the CD. So there is that. So if you want a really good ALL ANALOGUE pressing of A Love Supreme for not much money, get the 1995 repress!
I just sold a huge collection 4,000 plus to a dealer in the United States. They were taking up way too much space. I kept about 300 gems. Anything I want to listen to is on Spotify, TH-cam and other sites. I don't think this vinyl craze will last. It will go out just like hockey cards and Beanie Babies. I just think that the prices of vinyl are way too high. Records are not artifacts from the Ming Dynasty. Paying what equates roughly to a weekly grocery order doesn't make any sense.
Michael, this is brilliant, thank you! I would LOVE to see you do a similar video but all electronic albums similar to one of your recent videos featuring Autechre, Burial, etc. A deeper dive into that realm. Also, keen to know your favorite Ambient audiophile recordings. Cheers.
Excellent, as always! Thank you.
I adore your conversations with great class!!
Great video!. Very happy to see that I have got almost all of the LPs that you showed and totally agree that they sound AWESOME!. Thanks so much for the video.
Great video. First class albums!!
Excellent recommendations. Thank you so much
always good. I am looking forward to spring when you can film from the patio with the dogs.
me 2 Michael
I'm just finding your TH-cam channel, but I'm so glad I did. Great music selection and I like your passion for music.
Welcome to the Channel Anroj1
The Sinatra album sounds gorgeous, and I love the story behind it and the fact that the master tapes were stored hundreds of feet underground somewhere in Pennsylvania!
John, our thanks! We're glad you love it...
Great video Michael.👍 I've got a few of those albums, in my Jazz collection.
Dave Brubeck
John Coltrane
Lee Morgan
Wayne Shorter
Cannonball Adderley
Watching in 🇬🇧
Michael, sincere thanks for your continued love for our Impex release of SING AND DANCE WITH FRANK SINATRA. Much appreciated!
Great choices Michael, I have a few of them thanks to your previous recommendations and you haven’t let me down. 🙂
Great recommendations Michael. I just made several purchases. Thank you!
Great video Michael. Excellent list !!!
Nice jazz collection I want to get in to jazz music
So then here are some recommendations for you :-)
Great video! Thank you for sharing this with us, you really know your stuff man.

Wow! Would love to hear Shape Of Jazz To Come on 45 rpm. Great selections there.
Love the Afternoon in Paris record, just amazing sounding record. Love it
Outstanding 🎶🎼🎵 list
Great recommendation 👍🏽🤙🏾
Hi Michael. The Kind of Blue UHQR editions will sell out in minutes. I would like to get one but......

VERY COOL.....!!!!
DANKE 👊
I see Afternoon In Paris, I Instantly Like!!
Great vid thanks! I haven't heard of Ron Jefferson before so will check him out.
My addition - "Jazz at The Pawnshop" blew me away the first time I heard it. Recorded Live in 1976.
I listened to the Ron Jefferson album. Wow! "Africa The Beautiful" is a super highlight! Thanks for the recommendation!
Thank you so much for this! I couldn't help but notice the very crisp vinyl wraps you have, especially the gatefold ones- may I ask what are they?
I love your videos, Michael!
I hope one day you'll devote an entire video to the best Frank Sinatra audiophile vinyls. 🤵♂️👍😊
I really enjoy the Sam records releases. Now if I see one I buy it, now questions asked
Donald Byrd "Byrd in Flight" has AMAZING sound quality. It will be my go to reference record.
17:45 The Rajah is heavenly, both music and the pressing. It convinced me that I have to urgently own everything by Lee Morgan!
I just wanted to thank you for a wonderful show. I enjoy your insightful and educational channel. Your love of music of a vast range of genres comes through. 'Time Out' all the way and then Getz for dessert...buttery, silky chocolate gorgeousness! .... supreme & ballads for a nightcap (Grant Green 'Sunday mornin' is my weekend essential)
I see you use Vinyl Storage Solutions for your outer sleeves as do I.
Cassette tapes are also recommended when starting an audiophile collection. To get the best out of the good well kept, undamaged cassettes, you need clean and demagnetized and lubricated tape path and Dol y NR OFF! Armstrong and Peterson is simply fantastico
I have a 70s Byrd in Flight. I curious to maybe buy a Tone Poet and compare.
This would be very interesting do it Eric!!
Look forward to your comments comparing the two!
By the way, Michel Legrand's niece Victoria Legrand is the lead singer of indie duo Beach House. They are my favourite band I have to say. Crazy good dream pop
Wow i love Beach House and did not know that.. thx a lot Mark
That's really interesting Cheers for the info! Love learning of family connections like this. I recently found out that Flying Lotus is Alice Coltrane's grand nephew
Could you please share the information about your jackets? They look very well made! I would love to know where can I purchase them from. Thanks!
Michael - thank you very much for the excellent recommendations. Please could you kindly reveal where you get your excellent vinyl shelving from. I love how thin the shelves are! What are they made from? Thanks very much - Nick
They are custom made here in Düsseldorf
@@Michael45RPM That's going to make having them in the UK a little tricky but thanks for your reply. What material are they made from?
I'm curious about your records storage stand, the shelves are so thin I'm thinking it's not made out of wood.
Please tell me if there is a better sounding Mono recording than the Impex Sinatra because I would have to get it. Plus the booklet it comes with was very informative. Also, the Carole King Tapestry Mofi is done but they are releasing it as a One-Step preorders are live on their website.
Maybe the Ellington Masterpieces or Ellington Indigo original.
Johnny Hartman and John Coltrane
Have you pre ordered the Billy Harper Quintet - Antibes 75 from Sam Records yet? Or will you be purchasing the Artisan copy that comes out later on?
I will get both in this case
Once again, an awesome selection Michael.
My Herbie Hancock pick would be Takin Off. I personally find it a little more accessible than Inventions and Dimensions, but we are talking marginally.
I still have to pick up the Impex Sinatra pressing. My favorite Impex release so far is Legrand Jazz.
On the tone poet side, Byrd in Flight is such a great recording.
I see it the same way about Herbie Hancock. What is also more accessible is „Gershwin‘s world“ by Hancock
I haven’t listened to Gershwin’s world yet. Definitely going to check it out.
@@bikemike1118 wow this is great. Thank you for the recommendation.
Great 😊, I guess I will find something new to check out. Let’s find out.
Did your Lush Life copy arrived yet?
No Lush Life is still on its way.....
I hope 🤞 it arrives save and soon.
Mine arrived yesterday and since we are living not so far from each other, I thought yours might as well.
Can someone explain the advantage of 12-inch 45 rpm vs. 33 rpm? Also, what's the advantage with single-side pressings?
Sam jackets are the best
What do you think of the Music on Vinyl Monk Straight No Chaser?
Hello! What are the gatefold sleeves you use? Thanks.
Please look threw my Videos there are 3 about my sleeves
As he said, they are in a video dedicated to them. Unfortunately, it is a very small company and they are in very high demand. They will not have more for a few months though. I believe the site is Vinyl Storage Solutions.
Love the selection. I have a question please. At 12:43 you mention "maybe for the last time". Why may that be? Thank you
Where did you get those crazy curtains? I want them for my home.
they are from Pierre Frey
Thank u
Hi , I think I saw an Elvis album in one of your videos , have you had time to listen to it ? Did it sound good ? I have Elvis is back (1960) in many pressings (the most audiophile Elvis record ? ), Do you have it ? 🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪
Come on, Michael, Somethin’ Else is not an “alternative”. :) Arguably the best jazz record of all time. :)
:-)
It's OK. 😁
What’s best comes down to a matter of taste ...but it’s definitely a really good one, together with many others 😉
A great selection, every one. I was going to suggest something from Bill Evans, but then realized there aren't any affordable audiophile versions of Waltz for Debby, or Sunday at the Village Vanguard, or much else really. Thanks for the video!
Chris, i wish they would rerelease these plus explorations and portrait in jazz.
There is a huge Problem when it comes to audiophile Evans releases
The Analog Productions "Bill Evans At The Montreux" on 45 is worth every penny, and I'm guessing that the more affordable 33-1/3 version is also very well done (and it's available). Not an audiophile-specific release, but the OJC Waltz for Debby is very good. I was happy enough with it that I posted a needle drop but unfortunately it was blocked by TH-cam. The Mono Time Out is better than the stereo....

Bulls are pushing to go 500 right now!!
👌🎶
Why do you put yo LP in the back of the sleeve! You can’t read other information on the back it’s covered? PS....I love yo reviews!
Prevents sleeve rings and splits.
What’s your definition of a audiophile?

RON ... JEFFERSON ... CHOIR ...
500 dollars for a vinyl record! Are you nuts? Just buy the cd version, perfect sound, at a fraction of the price!
As collectors, we typically regret our economies, never or extravagances.
Yes it is not your first language but you talk so slow that I went to sleep bevor you finally started to show the records 😂
