I don't know if they still make these things, but my godson used to have this plastic container that could act as a terrarium of sorts, but also had magnifying glass bubbles all over it. If he caught a caterpillar or small lizard or some little critter, he could put it in the container and look through the magnifying bubbles to study it up close. I don't think he kept anything he found as a pet, but if your son is into creepies and crawlies, it might be something he's like to have (If they still exist- my godson is 25 now, so it's been a while🤣) (Edit: Out of curiosity, I looked on Amazon to see if these things still existed. Not only do they still exist, they are now WAY cooler than what my godson had!)
