    20:00 to 24:52 when he told 2 people to give their side of the story he began to get personal which probably made others feel attacked or nervous to give a story but then he read the room and give a quick speech of empowerment by switching their mental models from “this is who i am” to “this is how ive been acting” which changed everyone’s perspective to give a speech and immediately right after someone felt confident enough to say theirs 👏🏾
    just an observation
    but thats some powerful shit

    This was brilliant! Thank you! And yes, I was at Tony Robbins's UPW event (Unleash the Power Within) in 2022, it was great! But you have explained some other things which were not at the UPW. When I did the 1st exercise, I neutralised an unpleasant event within minutes which I stored in my brain for years. 😃 Incredible 😯

      My purpose (in these videos) is help others help themselves create a more fulfilling life. Comments like yours is WHY I do this.
      I am reminded of the story of the young man who, walking along the beach, sees thousands and thousands of starfish washed ashore and stranded, dying, on the beach.
      Stricken by the tragedy, he feels a great sadness as he realizes the starfish, to innumerable to save, will all perish because there are too many to help.
      While lamenting on this, he notices an old man standing at the waters edge.
      One by one, he is picking up starfish and tossing them back into the ocean. Bewildered, the young man yells to the old man, "What's the point? It won't really make any difference. There's too many."
      The old man, smiling, as he tosses another back into the ocean, says, "It made a difference to that one!"

I just notice that too many other NLP experts and Hypnotists play ego-maniac and suggest their way to earning respect and credibility... you don't need to do that and you come across as very trustworthy and in this for sincere reasons. That is lacking unfortunately in this arena.

    I love listening to talks or books when I work. I am very glad I came across this video. I think anyone truly interested in learning and particularly in learning about the workings of the mind would find a lot of value in this video. I loved how the speaker talks and teaches, for me it was very easy to take in and understand. I think most of the backlash in the comments comes from the "click-bate" title. Clearly this video is an hour and a half long, which to me is a plus. But no this is not a ten minute video that will suddenly make you become who you want to be, and I think the people who are looking for some quick trick may be missing the big picture in all this anyway. If you really care to change I think you have to gain an understanding of how things work and how your own mind works which to me cannot be taught/understood in ten minutes. Anyway, I got a ton of value from this video. Thank you for making it :) And thank you all the people watching this video I know you are capable of making the changes you hope to see in your life! :)

    • @listentogrey
      @listentogrey 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@robinelliott5561 hey Robin, it did! NLP/therapy empowered me to realize that I was making the decision to “panic” ... it’s wild to think it all comes down to choice and we have the power to choose how we react even when we feel completely out of control. it took me awhile to unravel- some days I walked out of session feeling confused, lost, and to be honest embarrassed at times... but now, there is this pause and distance between how I react to stressful situations and how control my energy when I feel triggered.. NLP allowed me to take notice that somewhere deep in my subconscious got logged the need to panic and certain self limiting believes I held about myself.. now I am very much in alignment with my truth and confidence in self. I have to take things day by day and sometimes moment by moment but no where near where I was, who I was, and far from where I been. I wish u love light and healing namaste 🙏🏽🦋

    • @JudiChristopher
      @JudiChristopher 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You said, "I was able to identify what people were doing to me"
      Correction: You were (feeling) what you wanted to see what people were doing to you.
      It is called REFRAMING... You can't change the picture (the people you were talking about) but you can change your FEELINGS, the FRAME around the Picture. I even sometimes and take the frame off and break it...
      It is not the Reality... it is what we THINK is the Reality is.. (scary). LOL

    Two things I’ve always done without consciously thinking about nlp is try to draw a long hallway and simultaneously also see the top of a flat pyramid or try to hear two different conversations at the same time or look in my room and find as many things that I’ve never noticed as possible. I did all that to train my brain somehow. I figured it was expanding my mental capacity like a balloon.

    Excellent demonstration and explanation of some of the NLP techniques. I've studied NLP for at least ten years but one thing that I've never realised before is that I don't have a reference for a moment when I've been confident or secure - EVER!
    I'm not being dramatic but I've got no memory of it, even when things have gone my way I'm on alert for a spoiler so never get to enjoy success. To many outsiders my life looks like it's been a blast, but for me it's been a continuous succession of "something's going to go wrong".
    I'm not sure how to change that because it seems to be my only experience. This video has certainly opened my eyes to the core of my depression. Thanks, that's a revelation that I can focus on but at 60 years old it's probably not an easy fix. Great channel and thanks for sharing.

    • @RobertHarrisonBusiness

  • @thisbadmonkey
    @thisbadmonkey 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Wow. The part where you are referring to panic attacks. I had that too. And it is so true, you are expecting it, and with that are making it happen. Same as now with my feeling of something stucks in my throat the whole day. I don't feel it in the morning when I awake, but I expect to feel it, focus on my throat all the time and boom, there it is for the rest of the day. I hope I learn in the rest of the video how to break that habit because I know, that it will go away.

    • @thisbadmonkey
      @thisbadmonkey 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@robinelliott5561 hy Robin. I would say Kind of I guess..?
      First of all it's gone. I don't have that anymore, and it went of it's own.
      I learned that everything I'm laying my focus on will get stronger in it's appearance, if that makes sence.
      If I'm worrying about something, even if that something seems to constantly annoy me and is hard to ignore, it will get a place where it is allowed to be.
      If I say okay, I will live like it's a part of my life and don't fight it internally, it's like it loses its purpose and goes away eventually.
      So if a doctor can't find something physical causing your problem, try to except it, it's only there to annoy or worry you so take that purpose away, make it small till it's not existent anymore.

    I loved this lecture. The title seems to do injustice to how valuable and engaging this content is. You know how "learn a language in 1 month" kind of titles seem absurd and hard to believe, putting you off immediately, which perhaps is just my vision imposed on reality. Anyway, great video!! This presentation is not "How to change your Life" in 10 minutes; it is "How to change your Life in 10 minutes." So if you can learn techniques that can change your Life in 10 minutes, then this video-clip is titled properly, no matter how long this video presentation itself is.
    (On a different note, this itself is an example of how changing your frame can help you judge some thing differently. :-))

    I really appreciated this talk; thank you! Re: the awareness test, for those with (c)PTSD or some other form of conditioning that produces hyper-vigilance, the counting of ball passes as the main focus and task is sometimes allocated to peripheral focus/vision, while the person is actually alert to and attending to unusual (threatening) stimuli. I have never seen an awareness test, but I definitely saw the dancing bear in the middle. If I missed something, it was the correct count of ball passes because that is non-threatening and inconsequential, whereas unexpected or unusual behaviour always catches my focus and becomes my cognitive priority.

    • @donnebonne
      @donnebonne 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! Thank you. I only counted 8 passes and though I missed the bear, I was very busy looking at other things going on peripherally. I have been studying law for 10 years. I can explain the basics in about 30 minutes or less. But it would all seem foreign to you if you knew nothing about law or if all that you knew about law was wrong. So for someone to retain the 30 minute summary, they would need to have years of instruction to even be able to comprehend it.

    Yup, If it don't mind it'll never matter, we know how amazingly powerful our thoughts can be from our science today. I'm reminded that our brain/mind is just an amazing tool. I believe that It's most important to ask; "who listening to the mind" and understanding that we are three-part beings of mind body spirit... :)

    Thank you for sharing your knowledge and providing such a great introduction into NLP!
    It was interesting to notice how Jane was described at 01:03:22, this is where I can fully relate to.
    Is there any further source of information available regarding this specific behaviour, so that you really try hard and perform best initially but then become the guaranteed dropout as described with the abovementioned example with Jane.
    This is the first time i learned that this behavioural trait can was described and can be tackled, and as i am struggling with this ever since I would be more than grateful to learn where I can find more information or resources.
    Thanks in advance!!

    Okay, so with the moonwalking bear; he is black and we were watching the white players, so we canceled out the black players as well as the black bear. I've seen this in myself when I start looking for something. The color or the shape is what I start looking for. If it is small and red, then everything red that is small in the room jumps out at me.
    If the instruction was to count how many black players never get the ball the moonwalking bear would have jumped out at you like a sore thumb.

    Can NLP help to achieve a "Peak Experience" ?

    • @NLPandHypnosis
      @NLPandHypnosis  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can use NLP to enrich a memory of 'Peak Experience' or you can use it to help you create one - ie via goals, values alignment, etc.

    Changing the map - Changing the story:
    Parents think they are doing something good, but they create suffering and death of their kids. And only if the kids die before them the parents can realize what evil they've done. But some delusional people might say "Don't blame yourself" as if death was not the direct concequence of being born.
    Change your map regarding procreation if you already didn't.

    Maybe NLP can answer this. Why is it that there is some information we receive that we are skeptical about and can only accept (if at all) with a lot of convincing and back and forth in our head, and also every now and then we receive information that right away we automatically believe, accept, and internalize to where it becomes part of us? I've noticed this in my life and I would love to be able to duplicate both to purposefully hard wire constructive, positive beliefs I would like to have and get rid of our prevent negative, destructive beliefs that plague or would plague me.

    • @JudiChristopher
      @JudiChristopher 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      THAT is what NLP is... I'm not sure if I'd call it 'hard wire constructive'... NLP is not hard... It just is...

  • @drmarisan1
    @drmarisan1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    This guy has the same EXACT story as another guy... so I've learned that when you are doing a lecture, the story you tell doesn't necessarily need to be true to the person who is telling it because it is only a story. So you can tell made up stories.. ie. my name is XYZ (when it really isn't - but it doesn't matter - because you are going for a certain outcome - which is to captivate and influence your audience).. just like acting. Actors performing don't necessarily need to be the character in real life.. they just have to be able to ACT like they are and be convincing, This speaker was convincing with his story about the skii trip... because someone else had the same exact line in another video. This is their script as it seems.. good thing to know. Because what you are watching is really about changing your awareness not necessary judging if the speaker is being who they are in the video.. he could just assume any identity in the seminar.. but that's not the point.. the point is teaching... and what the audience in this video is learning... interesting

    • @NLPandHypnosis
      @NLPandHypnosis  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Maris, if you are referring to explaining NLP and how it got started the stories should match. If you are referring to personal stories - any personal stories I tell are my own. So, if you hear anyone else use them as their own please let me know and be specific so I can check it.

    • @drmarisan1
      @drmarisan1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, I will get that video.. I just finished watching another video of a person using the same diagram as you and thought to myself... hmmm... they are probably on the same team and are trained to tell the same story.. i.e. the story about the skii trip and the Starbucks story when you were about to have a baby.

    • @drmarisan1
      @drmarisan1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      found the video... just an observation... and am thinking that this is like a green glass door experience

    • @drmarisan1
      @drmarisan1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      BUT it is also possible (here is a lesson in awareness) that the guy on the video (perhaps it's you) is the same guy in the other video! The first video I watched was of a man without a beard. The second one is the same guy, but with a beard! So now, I can either re-frame myself or you could or that my first comment is true.. that the story is the same, but told by different people.. to influence the audience.. and not necessary need to be true for the person delivering the talk.
