    I ran across your video today after coming home to fry in m cichlid tank. My electric blue acara mated and bred. I didn't even know they were male and female. I only have the two because they are 19.99 ea. I purchased them about 3 weeks apart. Only thing, I wasn't expecting fry and they hatched today. I didn't even notice eggs. I just transferred cichlids into a different set up.

    Do you have any advices to prevent white fungus in their eggs?
    This is my second attemp to keep EBA. Adopted 5 EBA (1.75 inc) 7 days ago, put them with 7 juvenile manfish.

    I have a pair of them, they are beautiful.. they haven't spawned yet but are showing signs of it.. shaking at each other, shaking my plants. I'm hoping one day they will spawn! Great video!

    I bought 2 from Pet Smart. I had not idea of the sex. One day, I saw a few number of fry that they were protecting. I believe other fish must have ate the fry. A week or two later, They have another litter. I did nothing. They are very protective parents. I petitioned the tank as much as I could as I have a huge litter of polar blue parrot fry. These parents are also very protective. What is the chance of you getting two pairs of breeding pairs without trying. I hope they continue to grow.

    My female keeps eating the fry.. should I remove her before after or at all when she lays the eggs.. the father tries to keep her away but eventually it's to no avail.. I do have one group successfully kept but everyone after that she has destroyed 😥

    I just saw one in person today and am super excited to get some.
    How big is the "community" tank you showed about 1:30? I just want a community with a couple acaras and a Firemouth or two, would that work in a 55g?

  • @antik_adam
    @antik_adam ปีที่แล้ว

    Great content! Can i please get your opinion on my 55g setup. Currently I have a full grown colony of 12 albino corydoras, 1 adult red eye tetra, and 1 recently purchased EBA. in a planted tank. Right now everyone gets along great.
    My question is would a breeding pair be ok in a 55 with all those corydoras?
    I was contemplating buying more EBA's from tbe same shop/ same size in hopes 2 will pair off, and rehome the other EBA's.
    Thank you in advance!!! Subbed for future content!!😎

    • @thisizmonster
      @thisizmonster ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you successfully breed? Our setup is almost same. I also have 55g tank and currently keeping 8 corydoras, 3 red eye tetra, 6 electric blue acara and 2 german ram. Never breed any fish before. But I'll try on eba.

  • @thecrazylineman68
    @thecrazylineman68 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    i have regular acara who seem to breed the same. at what stage would you be comfortable removing the fry and parents into a new tank with the established filter? i have my 55 gallon split in a 1/3 now from the tank mates and the fry have been swimming for a couple days now but i need to get the 55 footprint back. i have the tank, just plan on moving the filter to the new tank. will the parents eat the fry as they grow/continue to spawn or should i separate the spawn from the parents at some point?

    I have a pair that have fry and they're close to free swimming. My question is that since this is the second batch can the parents stay with the fry as they grow?

  • @thisizmonster
    @thisizmonster 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Sorry, I've nowhere else to ask this. I have 250 liter aquarium with some fishes including 6 Electric blue Acara. They seem all adult and I don't know how many males & females there. Week ago I noticed 2 of them got paired and laid eggs on driftwood. It's my very first time ever receiving breed from fish. So I bought another small (around 30 liter) tank with sponge filter, and transferred mother and eggs there. I don't know what was mistake, but it got many fungus, I tried clean them, but they keep appears. Fortunately bit over 20 of them survived and now those little things swimming everywhere while mother trying collect them to one corner. I thought after few days, when they become large enough to catch, I transfer them all to something temporary, then clean that little tank completely, and put back (for fight fungus)
    But right now another problem rised. I just noticed another 2 of them paired and laid eggs again in my main tank. For protect eggs, I separated both parents and eggs into another temporary basket (I don't have extra tank, and its nighttime right now), with sponge filter.
    My question is am I doing things right? Also should I find another 3rd aquarium or not? Can I put those eggs into previous small tank with mother and her week old fries? I hope someone answer it :D

    Hey dudes 2 days ago my electric blue acara laid eggs for the first time out of nowhere I was so shocked and happy but today it seems they have eaten them all and stopped guarding that corner of the tank an just back to swimming around the tank normally pretty much as if nothing has happened 😂😩😩 gutted! I don’t think they’ve moved them cuz they would still be guarding them right? 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @ForecastGrim
      @ForecastGrim 4 ปีที่แล้ว

I intended on breeding them but I didn't think the odds were in my favor as I only bought 2 for a start to go into a 55 gallon show tank for my birthday.... we'll see if they hatch were about 36 hours into them being put into a 40 gallon breeder and about 18 hours into them laying the eggs... not to mention they layed them on a fake plant not in the cave not on the 2 slabs of rock on the fake plant

      An EBA is a mix between a naturally occurring blue Acara and an Electric Blue ram. It's a hybrid, man made, not naturally occurring. A blue acara is not a hybrid of a green terror and EBR, although sometimes you find blue Acaras green terror mixed in. Not trolling, just clarifying.
