Try Cole’s on 6th St. . Also try Lanza Bros on Main Street around the corner from San Antonio Winery . Get the Italian special . New ownership but still delicious . I crave all the time living here in Colorado . Also try The Hat . Love their pastrami sandwich. & Topps in Alhambra.
I have not been since the 1970's for after hours of nightlife. Mostly though I hit Cantor's Deli on Fairfax. As a child I remember the old men (to me) in white dress shirts with bow ties and black pants. The Phillips's double dipped has remained the iconic downtown sandwich. Best taquitos on Olivera Street too was a weekly place as an L.A. kid. Congrats you had a real Mexican style taquitos with a thin guacamole verde sauce. Pinks never fails. They are always consistent.
Just discovered this video. I had a childhood flash back. Phillipe's was the original French Dip and my moms favorite and we used to go to Olivera Street when I went to visit my grandparents for the summer! Thank you for the flashbacks!
Congratulations on 10,000 subs & growing! Always giving great detailed information on where to eat, love that you give the prices and that most places are affordable too! 🙂💖 Thanks Bill & Lisa!
A quick story. When I retired (the Mrs already was), we decided to celebrate by going on a long, long road trip. To kick off that trip, we started out with a steak-n-eggs breakfast at the legendary Pantry. For those who have never been there, it's a must do. I believe the days are gone where there was almost always an hour+ wait to get in, even at 2am, being there are a number of dining options nearby, including LA Live. But back in the day when it was pretty much the only game in town, well at least that part of town, the Pantry was THE place to eat.
The 1st time I went to olvera street was in 4th grade with the all 4th graders.. as a kid it seemed like such a big trip from Southern Orange County. I've been many times since..... great video thank you
glad i found you guys, tired of foodies that have orgasms every time they eat!, love the places you go# Las Vegas, , you show prices, pics of the food and i agree with most of your recommendations, im from Buena Park, Ca but have been in Houston for over 17 years, Keep up the good work, hope to meet you someday
You guys have to check out North Woods Inn!! Oh it's sooo good! Their cabbage salad and cheese bread is AMAZING. They have locations in San Gabriel, La Mirada, and Covina!
Congrats on 10K, you deserve that and more. You brought back memories by visiting those iconic places in LA when I lived there. Thanks for another great one!🤗🥰
Congratulations Bill and Lisa!!! The foodie fam is so excited for you. Keep up the good work and heres to 10k more! 🍻🍻😁 Clifton's republic would be awesome if you guys have ever been there.
The next time you visit Disneyland try eating at the Steelcraft in Garden Grove. They just opened last year I believe. It's only like 5-10 minutes away from Disneyland . If you come during Memorial weekend after eating at the Steelcraft you can walk across the street to the annual strawberry festival and have a strawberry shortcake.
Oh man am I jealous right now! Those are some of my favorite places! I still have my glass mustard jar from Philippe's... I really enjoy these local vlogs.. you guys should hit up Tommy's one of these days if you haven't filmed it already. And congratulations on 10,000! I have a feeling you guys are going to get a lot more than that.
Nice tour of some of LA's classic eaterys. I lived in LA in the 70's, but was not the foodie person I am now. I had heard of the Pantry and Pinks, but never went there. For breakfasts I would visit Marie Callender's. For a chili dog fix, der weinerschnitzel got my $$$. Mainly, because living in the West Valley, it was hard to justify going "over the hill" for a simple chili dog meal. Had Tommy's a few times when at Santa Monica Beach. Got to Lawry's Prime Rib a couple times, mainly to impress my date with a fancy dinner night. With dining in being shut down now, my meals come from my kitchen. I don't get takeout often.
Goodness me! March you hit 10,000 subscribers and you have gained quickly since then. That’s fantastic! Yeppers I’m on day 2 of binge watching you guys🙋♀️🦋💜
10k Subs!!! Congratulations! Well earned. One on my favorite channels! Your kind, sweet uploads are a perfect respite to this crazy world. Keep the delicious, delightful reviews coming!🎊🎉🤘🏼
Sourdough French toast? I guess the combination of sweet and subtle sour makes it different. If you can train yourself to cut with your left hand and hold the piece with your right, it'll be easier and more efficient for you....no switching. Of those on this list, I've only been to Philippe.....twice. Have you ever had a pastrami from The Hat........the original is in Alhambra (1951)........I highly recommend one, double dipped with Swiss.....YUM! I've had it twice from that original location and once from their newer location in Simi Valley.....they have several locations.
Price level is different. Now there is not that much difference. If you made money in Hong Kong forty years ago and spend money here you would felt very miserable. Moreover, if you bought food from supermarket and then cooked at home it could me more affordable than in Hong Kong. California is an agriculture state, so some fruits and vegetables were sold at low prices.
Hello from Woodbridge, Ontario!!! Love your videos!!! You both are so adorable!!! If you ever want to try authentic delicious Italian food come to Woodbridge Ontario Canada. Best Italian food ever! Sending you both a big hug!
Congrats on hitting 10k subscribers! How about doing an episode on South Bay Asian eateries? Gardena Bowl Coffee Shop, Curryfornia (Torrance), Josui Ramen (Torrance), Auntie's Cafe (Gardena), Fu Sing (Torrance - take out only though - no seating.) Love your videos - I look forward to them every week!
Just subscribed! Love you guys! ESPECIALLY your Vegas vids! This LA “tour” was very good. Love French dips. Born and raised in So Cal and have never been to Phillippe’s!!! Gotta go one day...if this virus ever gets any better!!
Congrats on over 10K!!! Phillipe and Cielito Lido are on my bucket list...more au jus!!...just sayin;) Pink's was an awesome experience...except we came on a wrong time...35 min wait:(...somebody in the line recommended the chili dog with pastrami....amazing..so was the mountain of fries. Unfortunately...nobody famous showed up...c'est la vie. Thanks guys!!!
None of our videos are monetized, so they run ad free. We do on occasion get hit with a music copyright violation by youtube, only those will have a popup ad. Thanks for watching!
Gr8 stuff, guys. Keep it up. Don't forget to eat your veggies and get your steps in. Pantry's is the best. Sorry you got a cranky server there. They're old school.
Congrats on 10,000. New subscriber here. I like all the places you went to. Except phillipes I went 2 times and tried different things and I tried to like it but I just didn’t. So many way better places to get roast beef sandwiches. Looking forward to your next food adventure.
Hi Bill and Lisa. My wife and I watch your volgs on a regular basis and we absolutely love them. We especially like the Las Vegas Vlogs, we just completed our 10th trip last year. But when I saw that you were going to Pink's on Le Brea I was super excited. I visited that very location many years ago when I was out in LA visiting my cousin. She was like you have to go there before you leave. So at 10am I had the most amazing hot dog with lots of stuff on it. But I only have a still photo of the hot dog. Your video brought back so many memories. Thanks. Also a request, when I was out there I visited Barney's Beanery, can you go there? That was also amazing and I saw Tatyana Ali who played Ashley Banks on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Thanks for the awesome Vlogs. Scott & Christy, hope we run into you some day.
I love you guys, so fun. Phillippe's is the best place in the world. I love the mustard, the more the better. Also the custard is amazing. I sometimes get them dry and bring them home to Utah.
Always love the local LA stuff you two! Again, congrats on the 10k! Also, you two should hit the Oinkster over in Eagle Rock, solid burger/sandwich place..
Hi Bill & Lisa, Wow, 25K subscribers. Your Vlog's are sooo upbeat! Looking forward to seeing more. Btw: I was at an art show in January 2020 (overnight trip). The opening night was a fundraiser with various LA vendors and Pink's was one of them! There was a big line so I skipped eating their chili dog :( How does Pink's compare to Nathan's in New York (if you tried it there or other NYC/Manhattan eateries)? Happy eating!
We went to the original Nathan's in Coney Island, ordered the regular hot dog, it was good! Pink's hot dogs have a snap to them, think they use Hoffy Dogs. Both are great hot dogs.
Classics! Grew up with all of these iconic restaurants.

Xlnt choices for classic LA food. Two suggestions: Chili burgers at the original Tommys. Chili dogs at Cupids (better than Pinks).
Just discovered this video. I had a childhood flash back. Phillipe's was the original French Dip and my moms favorite and we used to go to Olivera Street when I went to visit my grandparents for the summer! Thank you for the flashbacks!
You are great Bill and Lisa, love to see your passion for food. Waiting every day to see the new video you upload! Hello from Israel

Lines are still very long, and they're no longer open 24 hours (maybe they'll go back to 24 hrs one day).
The 1st time I went to olvera street was in 4th grade with the all 4th graders.. as a kid it seemed like such a big trip from Southern Orange County. I've been many times since..... great video thank you

Hi from Hongkong 🇭🇰
Food looks 😋 yummy
America food so expensive!!
Price level is different. Now there is not that much difference. If you made money in Hong Kong forty years ago and spend money here you would felt very miserable. Moreover, if you bought food from supermarket and then cooked at home it could me more affordable than in Hong Kong. Yay congratulations on hitting 10K guys, you deserve it I love your videos 💕💯
Lisa looks just like my sister in law, that's a good thing, enjoy your channel
The Pink's dog looks like a Detroit coney dog. Huh! Neat! And a hello from Michigan!
Pinks has pretty good hot dogs! I haven't been there since 2006 or 2007 but I got one with sour cream on it and it was really really good!
I enjoy watching you two lovebirds. Greetings from Walla Walla, Washington.
