Good of you to give this dealer a shout-out, they are exceptional (three miles from my house, sorry!) With over forty years so far of biking under my belt, they are the best dealer I have ever used. If you are fair with them , they will be fair + with you...
@@cpuuk if a dealer treats its customers well they are more likely to go back… Or in my case travel those extra few miles. Maybe one day they’ll have a Triumph you like 😉
I think you are the chap I was chatting to while I was waiting for my Speed 400 to be serviced. I agree with you about Triumph West London which is why I shall continue to use them.
I had the exact same issue with my 2023 Trident with 3k miles. During my first full service, they found the steering bearings were notchy. Will 100% credit to them finding it, reporting it to me and fixing under warranty yesterday. Indeed a very friendly team and I also love this dealership. Only thing is that I always end up with a screw in my tyres in that area each time it has had a service and this repair. Had 3 so far in 1 year, recent one yesterday and the new tyre was installed 2 days before!
I've been buying bikes off these guys for years, great service and I only live 2 miles away 😊😅. Back in the day they were Jack Lilley motorcycles based in Shepperton.
The best Triumph dealer I have been in by far and I have sadly been in a few is Triumph West Yorkshire in Shipley. They rebuilt the gearbox on my Speed Triple 1050RS as 3rd and 4th gears were knackered at only 1300 miles on the clock. They did a great job and couldn't do enough for me and I didn't even buy my bike from them. They actually do the work as well and it's not just a tick box exercise. Very friendly guys as well.
Finding a good dealer really makes a difference… I had a Speed 1050 before my 1200 from another dealer that as soon as I bought the bike became unfriendly and unhelpful! Worth the extra miles in my case. Really glad you also have a great place to go. Also really great that they rebuilt your gearbox… Thanks for the comment mate 😊
@@TheBucksBiker-lh2nm W Yorks Triumph is not my local Triumph dealer. Webbs in Peterborough are but they are no great shakes. They couldn't do the repair as they didn't have the tech expertise at the time nor availability. Pure Triumph in Wellingborough or Woburn are better although they also couldn't or wouldn't take on the repair of my bike's gearbox. W Yorks Triumph in Shipley are about 130 miles away from me turned out to be stars. I bought my bike from Laguna down in Kent on-line unseen again about 120 miles away. It arrived with a completely flat battery and when I had charged the battery I couldn't get it into neutral whilst idling. Had to turn the engine off. Then the gearbox started playing up. It ended up being dangerous to ride. Lost a whole year of not riding it because of this. Laguna didn't want to know about repairing it. Told me they had an 8-10 weeks queue to service bikes before they could look at mine. After 8 months I was desperate and a guy on the Triumph form but more amazingly local to me in Cambs recommended me to W Yorks Triumph in Shipley as he had had big problems with his Thruxton engine again very low mileage which they sorted out. The Triumph dealer he bought his bike from Blade didn't want to know. I believe the cylinder head casing was weeping coolant meaning a manufacturing fault. He got an engineer's report and he agreed faulty materials shouldn't have failed at only 3k miles. Anyway I took mine 130 miles up to W Yorks Triumph Shipley who could basically look at it in 10 days time having called them. All being well if the problem was what they thought it was given they said yep we've done a few of these faulty gearboxes recently it's a known problem, we basically rebuild the gearbox for owners and so they did for mine. A very good experience with them. Nothing was a problem. They didn't try to deny the gearbox had this issue on 1050RS nor make out it was my fault, user error. They fessed up straight away and said it was a known issue and they had repaired a few. They were on the ball. Triumph themselves were pretty useless and didn't want to know which was pretty bad of them as I emailed them detailing my problems with my bike at only 1,300 miles, but they basically couldn't have cared less. In the end theTriumph Approved Warranty I had got when I bought my bike from Laguna paid, but the tossers at Laguna had tried to tell me that there was no issue with the gearbox on these bikes, mine was the first one they had heard of which was complete bollox as there is 30 pages of unhappy speed triple RS owners on the Triumph forum and also W Yorks Triumph had said to me that there were issues with these gearboxes. Anyway I wouldn't hesitate buying a bike from W Yorks Triumph. I would never ever buy a bike from Laguna again. I was even thinking of riding mine up to the guys at W Yorks Triumph to get mine serviced each year but a 260 miles round trip on mostly motorway is not fun just for a service. The tech who rebuilt my bike's gearbox was an older guy who had worked on bikes all his life and knew what he was doing. Other more local Triumph dealers I approached either just didn't have the staff, availability or the techs that had the necessary skills or experience to do such a big complex job. Two thumbs up to W Yorks Triumph. Yeah I tried the 1200 RS before I settled on the 1050RS, but felt the suspension was a little too firm for me, like back jarring firm on our crappy roads especially in the subsided Fens. Ironically I have softened mine even more. I got a softer rear spring fitted last year at BG motorsport near Silverstone. They used to be at the circuit but not now, nearby. They were also recommended to me by the guy local to me with the Thruxton. The ride on my 1050RS is now very sweet, firm but compliant and it turns so easily. They set the suspension up for my weight and riding style. It feels like the smaller lighter Street Triple RS. I weigh just under 70kgs, 81kgs with all my gear and helmet on. The std spring is rated for much heavier riders hence it felt so hard. ATB.
@@alexmorgan3435 thanks for that really interesting and detailed comment.. I find it incredible how dealers drive away customers through either incompetence or pure laziness.. I think you made the best choice is going those extra miles to get the level of expertise and professionalism you got from W Yorks! Obviously, as you said, it’s a little too far for something like a service… However their good customer service means they have a customer for life. About the suspension on the 1200rs! I had seen the reviews and complaints from certain MCN based journalists and was expecting a terrible experience on my test ride! However, I have found it to be ok! Yes, the roads are getting worse and it occasionally gets a bit jarring but nothing that puts me off the massive grin factor this bike gives.. I do miss my 2014 1050 as ai think it’s a bit better as an everyday road bike but jeeeeeez the 1200rs is an animal! My only fear is loosing my licence. It can though still be ridden normally compared to other ‘beasts’ like the Street Fighter that hate normal speeds and feel dead at anything below prison speeds. I weigh closer to 95kg with my leathers so that might also be a factor to why I don’t have massive problems with the firm suspension… I do though keep it on the softer setting. Not felt the need to get it professionally set up but is something I might look at if I start doing many more track days. Talking of track days… OMG the 1200rs is amazing fun!! Take care buddy and safe riding 😊🤘🏻
Never quite sure whether you occasionally buy a lemon, or whether it's a particular manufacturer. I never had any problems with Honda or Kawasaki, however my Triumph has started to shed its engine cover skin just after the warranty expired. Judging by your experience, I'll count myself lucky...
