I was 8 years old the first time my dad turned me loose on a skid steer and now I'm an operator for a construction company. Its good to learn young. Good on you for doing this for them.

Great job teaching these young ladies how to check oil and operate machines next time maybe make them do the oil check and other stuff and make sure they get grease on them lol
I'm sure that full checks will follow. Best not to overload new trainees. Start very basic and build on it.
Took me about ten minutes to figure everything out the first time I got in one. Newer model that had a bunch of safety decices, and those held me up for over half that.
The repair welds took me less time than figuring out how to get the machine moved into a position where I could access the damage.

Seriously, though, I really do enjoy your closing scriptures these days! Your scripture today is one of my all-time favorites! My wife and I certainly did try to put this one into play when our son was growing up! I am pretty sure that some of it actually took root... Today he is the father of 5 younguns and he and his wife are doing their level best to pass it on to my grandchildren, oh yeah I almost forgot to mention he is a Minister leading a Christian church! He walked away from a football scholarship that he had been working on since 7th grade and transferred to a Christian college and paid his own way to his BS,then eventually a Master's degree! Although I miss seeing him on the field tearing stuff up, I certainly could not be more proud of the dad and especially the man of GOD he has become!!!!!

This might be one of your best videos yet. Those young ladies are pretty special. I have a pair of granddaughters (identical twins) but they just turned 5. It will be a long time before they are running tractors and such but they love going out to the ranch and checking game cameras and sneaking off for a little fishing. Keep on being a cool PaPa Ham !!

Absolutely great to teach these kids how things work..quite often I think they are willing to learn and that can be a great help.. especially when doing a task with multiple pieces of equipment for myself I am jumping from one piece to the other and would be great to have another person with knowledge to help. Excellent mindset Hank, we need very much to pass on knowledge such as this to the younger generation. We need to turn them on to learning trades and working trades....maybe they like it maybe they don't however they'll have that option now

I really enjoy that you teaching them the right way they don’t get killed or do something stupid and you are right. I wish I’ve learned more things from the tractor. It’s my grandfather, but I had to learn by myself our equipment when I work when I work for the state, New York department transportation But it’s too bad. Don’t have a grade all. it has wheels and drive it down the road 55 mph to get to one job site another job site and one day diction roadside hundred feet an hour thousand feet a day controlled the thing going forward and we first staring without hitting the cars and I had a car hit me by me and sued the state in the state will not pay for any equipment on the New York State Highway. I’m being safe from other people too. I do dig more than 1000 feet a day all up fast sometimes I might have three trucks two trucks four trucks. I love the job. The girls did OK in the bobcat and I would love to hire them two because I can see, they will be a very good operator, just like I am and they do need drivers today. Lot of employees retired and they are short of workers for the summer and I retired too. I’m 59 and I’m enjoying myself now. I have trained people when equipment paver roller screening operator on a paver are you even train train people how to drive trucks Paul trucks lose plow truck out first he can or she can see what’s feel like driving 35 mph and what to look for what to do get in trouble up here gets like white out with the lakes lake snow storms wind blowing can’t see front of the windshield. I had a guy came from Ithaca. He said he never ever Dover storm like this all I can tell him you see my lights follow the lights you should be OK. It’s all I can tell him and keep up another truck behind me too two of them because I’m a leader and I the guy told me in my partner. He will love to work with us two guys. We know what you’re doing. i’m just giving a little story. True story and you have a nice day. Can you do girls too? Sometimes it’s hard I even drove double ringers left and right hand side in the plow in the front and I even put them down on the major highways. Just stay safe forever you are.

You didn't mention to check coolant and hydraulic oil. We have an older Bobcat. To go forward and reverse and turn we have two joysticks.Our Bobcat has two foot pedals to raise and lower the bucket and to dump bucket The throttle on ours is a lever beside seat that moves back and forth

What a great video, spending time with your granddaughters and teaching them a useful skill, I have a video of my son teaching his 5yr old son to drive a mini excavator. Grandkids are the best, its what life is all about.

Teaching them how to operate a skid steer at their age is a skill that most of today's generation doesn't have. I operated a toro 525 wide track dingo which is basically a baby skid steer think it had a kubota diesel in it. I think I was maybe 7 now looking back 20 years later man I'm glad I did that. Then I won't forget the time my dad drove a dumptruck we had to tailgate which basically means to chain the tailgate so I learned that and other life skills while I was going to work with my dad.
