  • Two nights before the coronavirus public gathering restrictions came into force, an excited crowd filled the Metro Theatre in Sydney to dare fate and relive the music of 1980 (or at least that which Midge Ure had a hand in creating).
For many years I disliked Midge Ure. It wasn’t really his fault. It’s just that he wasn’t John Foxx. Of course, I admired the grandeur of “Vienna” and its accompanying video clip. But it was far from the Ultravox I loved.
40 years later and I’ve long reconciled the dramatic change that a new lead singer brought about. There’s no denying Midge’s huge talents and his contribution to the British music industry through all the twists and turns of his career. And he has written some damn fine songs. Songs recorded:
    Fade to Grey (01:06)
    Private Lives (04:50)
    Vienna (10:25)
    All Stood Still (17:12)
    Glorious (22:26)
Dancing With Tears in My Eyes (26:52)
    The Voice (30:57)
