I bought my Prius around the same time as you as an economical good value commuter and road trip car. (2010, $6000, 140,000miles). After 1 month of ownership, I started looking on the forums, I saw constant posts about coolant pump/head gasket problems, EGR, power steering, brake actuator, and HV battery problems. Every time I would turn on the car I would pray not to get a warning light. It was making me more and more anxious, like I was driving a ticking time bomb. After about 6 months I did the math and calculated I'm only saving $500/year in gas vs if I was driving a comparable car like a civic. If something broke, the amount of years i would have to drive it just to break even was too much, so I sold it for the same price I paid for it. I replaced it with a 2018 Mazda 3 Hatch 6 speed manual na 2.0. I get the same fuel consumption with the Mazda as I got with the Prius (driving faster in the Mazda). Mazda 3's (2014 to 2018)are pretty bulletproof and its surprisingly fun to drive.
That happens when you go to internet to look for failures and watch videos like this. If you look for diseases you will end up thinking that you have all of them. Firstly, 6000 for a head gasket is insane, any mechanic should do it for way less. The actuator problem is because the previous owner didn't go to check it at Toyota's call. I bought a 250.000 km 3 gen Prius 2 years ago, now it has 300.000 and the only thing that failed was the water pump, luckily it didn't cause any further damage. That's the main reason for the head gasket problems in this model, it's good to change the pump every 10 years or so. I don't know where you heared about power steering problems. EGR problems also happen in any car, it happens because it may get clogged if you usually drive in low speed areas, but cleaning it it's not expensive nor a big deal. If you heard about oil burning and piston rings and blah blah, the main reason for that is not changing the oil every year as Toyota says and not using the specific oil for these cars (they have lots of cold starts). You went paranoid, but they're really good cars. Original breaks last forever and they don't have ignition engine, alternator, gear box or clutch. The engine cruises at very low revs, so they have a very long life. You went paranoid and you were terribly wrong.
We've come a LONG way since the used C5 was in the driveway! I've got a rav4 prime. so I get 0-60 in 5.5 seconds... Probably faster with the better tires I put on it finally... but I average 42 mpg highway/city... Pretty great.
for a few seconds i was so stoked i thought you were back in the S2000 game
They are collectors cars now!
"Make sure you enjoy your car" in a Prius video is wild

Good choice getting rid of it lol. I'm going to see how long this one goes for

That’s about the most dangerous thing I’ve heard

The new Toyota hybrids are really nice!
@@ZentRose Couple that with a comma AI ( company in your neck of the woods ) you have a pretty potent combination IMHO.
Why would a safety related RECALL have age mileage limits on it? Seems downright scummy to me.
corporate greed
That sucks, it’s one of the only weak spots on those cars. It should run forever now, lowest cost of ownership car I ever owned.
What ford raptor do you have
Gen 3 and I just ordered a dodge RHO too. I am probably going to sell the raptor
but will it sub2
probably wouldn't even do sub 3 lol
Mine just failed too on my 2013 Prius v both parts
If your going to get a prius to save on fuel and money the second gen is the better one to by way more reliable
the corolla is gone? do you regret selling it in any way? wish you had kept it?
