There was an interview where Rodney said he's always wanted to try and get the shovit out from a darkslide up into a 50-50. Future ep potential perhaps ;) Super smooth make btw :)
I remember when they added flat ground tricks in THPS4, It literally changed the entire way the game was played. I would sit there for hours and memorize all of Mullen's amazing creations.
Totally,I like how he try's it,figures out kinda where he needs to be,then what he has to do and just...bam! And he does it soo good. He is a true master of his craft and then he has a great positive attitude to boot 😎 love his videos.
My utmost respect for your skills, it's absolutely amazing. Only velocity wise Rodney still got the heads up. He is very often doing the tricks with more speed.
I’m 33 and after 14 years have just started to skate again. At the time I skated, I only thought some tricks that Rodney could do, Only he could do. I’ve been watching your videos relentlessly and I love your passion and ability to keep the legend alive.
I don't even skate anymore but I find myself lost in your videos. I love your optimism and its great to get to see the process from start to finish. I wish we had, had this amount of encouragement and explanation available to use when we were younger.
Jonny is my favorite. A lot of the skateboarder youtubers spend too much time doing like... personal blogging while skating. I feel like when I watch Jonny he's talking about the history of the trick. How he prepares for the trick. He shows his bails. I just feel like when I watch a Jonny video I'm going to get 90% skating rather than some of the others that have a bloated length or are talking about nonsense or drama. Thanks a lot, Jonny. You inspired me to step on a board to begin with.
I watch a lot of skateboarding; I’ve been doing it since 1989. Out of everything I look at skate wise your stuff is routinely my favorite. In addition to great skill and creativity you have a sincerity and positive vibe that comes across. Thanks for all the great clips.
Jonny Giger MAMMA MIA! What a phenomenal skater! I have never seen vids on breaking down these! But I have been enjoying these all day! Epic Dark Slides even on a not so good day! 🛹🛹🛹🌟🌠
I liked the fact that someone else was skating the ledge in the video as well, it breaks up the attempts and makes the video much better imo. Nice job!
I love watching your channel man. I’ve always wondered the struggles Mullen had to go through to land those amazing tricks and your vids give a insight to that. And not only do you land em but you make sure it’s as clean as you can get it. Very entertaining man truly.
G'day Jonny, I'm really lovin your positive attitude (as well as the crazy hard tricks you do, of course!) Your videos are becoming my favourite to watch over the "Thrasher" videos! Cheers, mate..! You inspire me to want to skate more & to try & learn "non-conventional" tricks (I hope that made sense). Peace from Australia!
Alot of people back in the day(90's)and still nowadays. Don't realize that, that first trick of the video 0:13-14, is a crooked to pressure flip. Not a crook to varial heel haha. You have to watch Rodneys footage(his older stuff in particular, late 90's-early 2000's) super closely to see when he's actually doing pressure flips. He does alot of em haha, Pressure-Lazer flips, Pressure-Hardflips etc. I love it lol
The second I woke up on Friday, I saw my money go up, then right back down cuz I bought that toy story board. I'm so excited for it. Also good job on that trick! You make it look so easy
Hey man, I just recently discovered your channel, I'm an admirer of Rodney, he's been an inspiration after I discovered his style... though I don't sk8 anymore, the best I did was an ollie 😅I'm still fascinated by sk8 tricks. I just wanted to say that you kinda motivated me in playing the guitar 😁(that's my current hobby), and as we can slow down something on guitar, you probably can't so that's even harder I guess. Your endurance is priceless man, cheers. ✌
i saw you minimized the ancle for the end of the trick while you were sliding along. this way the board comes better to the position where you can roll away when you jump off the ledge
I was happy today because I almost land my first hardflip and I see Jonny doing Varial Heel to Darkslide now I feel like I'm very bad at skateboarding ps : I'm still happy btw
@@JonnyGiger yes the way to scoop and "decross" the feet after the flick are pretty hard to learn took me like 2 months to understand the scooping motion
Hey no one has ever said that before. You're the first person to ever say that. What an original and earth shattering thing to come up with and say here in the comments. And you edited it to make sure it was perfect thank you so much we all should thank you 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Hi Jonny! Wonderful series of vids from you, so nice to see how much dedication you need to get these tricks! I'm not an expert, but it seems to me that, in his darkslides, Rodney always keeps the edge as the only contact point, while you slam down the tail. That's maybe also why you find so difficult to initiate the slide, having to wax and wax and wax... What do you think?
at 5:39 starts a music totallly amazing but I can't find it on the soundclouds you shared ? Are you sure it is the correct artists ? I really would like to find this track kiss
Hi Johnny, I'd like to hear your opinion about plastic/fiberglass decks like the 32 inches penny. Griptape added, obviously. I'm asking you as an experienced flatground/street skater, why aren't cheaper and more sustainable boards even experimented with? Hope you'll read this, keep the shred up!!
DUDE! Awesome job... been loving this series. Question: How nitpicky is it to say that Rodney's darkslide balances on the middle of the board rather than between the middle and the lip of the board like you have it? Also, when he flips out, he catches the board in the air and stomps the landing. Is it a significant effort to add these elements into the trick?
There was an interview where Rodney said he's always wanted to try and get the shovit out from a darkslide up into a 50-50. Future ep potential perhaps ;)
Super smooth make btw :)
That would be doooope!
Yea, that came out of the Transworld Skateboarding's "Show Me the Way", where he teaches darkslides....
impossibru
What's a 50-50?
imagine being so good you could try tricks that rodney mullen THINKS of doing.
Darkslide is still one of my favorite tricks, ever since the old school Tony Hawk games... looks awesome, and the name is undeniably perfect.
Same here... i’d always skate Geoff Rowley since that was his special. Loved that trick!
I remember when they added flat ground tricks in THPS4, It literally changed the entire way the game was played. I would sit there for hours and memorize all of Mullen's amazing creations.
I think the world needs a Jonny giger vs. Andy Anderson round 1?!
Yes plz
I dont know about the world, but I know I do.
Hell yeah, or vs rademaker
I agree!
best idea since invention of the ollie :)
There is actually nothing more satisfying than watching Jonny Giger learn a new trick.
Totally,I like how he try's it,figures out kinda where he needs to be,then what he has to do and just...bam! And he does it soo good. He is a true master of his craft and then he has a great positive attitude to boot 😎 love his videos.
How bout landing a new trick instead of watching
Imma go skate ✌️
Someone probably ollied onto that thing and died afterwards

i have been watching johnny for years and i JUST NOW REALIZED: he is Luigi
kyle simboner Giger and Luan, competing for LotY (Luigi of the Year)
The background music really seals the deal
Haha bruh
Lol the Swiss Luigi skate god
Dude..... Been trying to put my finger on it for months now! Maybe what threw me off, was he's not Italian? IDK but I'm upset it took me this long
he lands it at 7:41 and he lands it cleaner at 8:11 and even cleaner at 8:32 and he lands it again at 8:42 and he lands the cleanest at 8:51
You're my new spiritual animal.....
That primo stuff at the end was ungodly. Johnny has some crazy shit coming
Never seen a "shuvit" in primo stance before, sick stuff!
I cannot understand how is that phisically possible. He's a wizard. How could he make his board not flip doing the shuvit?
Sure, Clorox Bitch....
5:26 that frontside blunt was so dope
poisoncurls thx man😅🙌🏼

Yo jonny I would love to see you do a video of you just tearing up your local and showing us all the funky tricks you can do around the park!

Keep up the good work Jonny! What I find mind blowing is the difficulty of these tricks and Rodney was doing them 20 years ago, what a legend!
07:16 the steeeeze on that blunt slide, who's that dude?
So much that I think he could've kickfliped out
I thought it was Dario (Juhasz, Jonny's friend) but it wasn't him. I wanna know who he is as well
was me😂😂🙏🏼✌🏼✌🏼

This is one of the best channels I've ever seen. Respect man✌🏽
Such an impossible trick and you nailed it so quickly! You are so talented and cool, Jonny!
Perfection, and the landing was so stylish! I'm glad you always look to improve the style after the first land.

I wish I was there to watch your progress on Rodneys tricks on real time. You're literally making history by doing the tricks only he has done.
Dude! So good!! And that sneak peak is next level 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love watching these Rodney Mullen videos mate, so chilled...and ridiculously skilled.
Not only did you study in art and film, you're also a barista.... Truly an accomplished individual...
That and the double flip dark tail slide are my two favorite variations of this trick that I've seen Rodney do.
Jonny you are a true champion, way to kill it bro 😎 I love your skating and videos and also your humble, hopeful attitude.great job.
That bolts landing gave me the chills bro!!!
You are a Skate LEGEND Yourself Johny!!!😊🎧🇺🇸
He’s crazy. Both Rodney and Jonny
Your perseverance in nailing that perfect trick is admirable man. Love the dedication and of course the success you have!
This dude deserves more views and billions of dollars

I used to skate when I was younger I'm 22 now and don't do it anymore, still loving the content man
23 here, same as you, just started again 1 month ago.. still hella fun even when my skills are not there anymore hahaha
I wonder if you could do a nollie varial heelflip before flipping into the darkslide. So 1.5 instead of .5 flip
That's what I thought this trick was going to be. I thought if the board doesn't do 1 full flip, it's not technically a heelflip.
same lol
the new 'cool' of skate videos... well done Jonnny Giger, well done.
my favourite part was when the wolves from the mountains started to really dig it at 8:59
Lmao I’m dead 💀💀💀

Jonny did you come to canada yet? you should goto vancouver and colab with Andy anderson
There’s an australian skate movie called “Deck Dogz” where a guy does a noseslide to darkslide (on a rail). Could you try that??

How do you not clap out loud though?
I reached the end of the video and my jaw dropped to the ground.

It has been a long time since i saw a skatevideo that entertained my this much. Thank you for this. :-)

I believe that Rodney Mullen now watches videos of Jonny Giger in his spare time.

You're just too good, I haven't any other words to describe this
Really cool Skating Area wheres that? Looks awsome with the Hills in the Backround
Dude, Jonny, you could turn that into a nollie varial heel to tail slide! that would probably look super slick
Next vid looks sick. Can't wait.
I was happy today because I almost land my first hardflip and I see Jonny doing Varial Heel to Darkslide now I feel like I'm very bad at skateboarding
