- expensive states in which to live, New York, Hawaii and California certainly are strong candidates
- metro areas in the US proper or any territory known to have high levels of violent crime, I think of those of Los Angeles, Detroit, Cleveland, St. Louis, NYC, Philly (at least in neighbouring NJ in the last 2 metro areas' cases), Chicago (including those parts of Indiana part of that area, among them Gary, the birthplace of Michael Jackson and his 4 siblings) and Memphis
- US states vulnerable to sea level rise, Alaska, Hawaii and those states with a coastline with any ocean or sea

So far as California goes, we left in 2019 and are so glad we did! We chose Georgia as our landing spot! It’s so nice not having to worry about high taxes, crime and liberalism!

From what I can see - just about all of Biden's America is about to collapse ? --- I am unable to find any - 'desirable' - state for an ideal retirement destination - after 3 years of searching ! Sad state of affairs with outrageous inflation everywhere you look. Many US retired are looking @ other countries for their continued retirement ! Half of all US Citizens now have a passport searching for greener pastures - and finding them - in ''many'' other countries around the world.
