    This is my favorite running TH-cam series as of now.
    Maybe by the time it finishes, it will be as great as the likes of Epic History TV's Napoleonic series!
    Keep it up! I'm loving it!

    This is the 3rd time I've watched this vid since it premiered. This evening I binged the entire 7 Years War vids. Bloody Outstanding! Your serial type videos are unbelievably well done. The animation is first rate, even at the lower level such as the Wittmann engagement video recently released. Fantastic that too. I look forward to anything you put out. Cheers.

    Part of the attacking french cavalry were the carabiniers and the dragons de Flamarins. After suffering heavy losses, the officers of the dragons were awarded the right to wear the carabiniers-officers saber. 4 of them still exist, one in my collection

    I was always under illusions that seven years' war wouldn't be fought even near France. I always thought it was restricted to "Germany". And that it was going to be always the big juggernaut attacking Prussia from the west. I'm also curious about the Swedish involvement. We've see East, West and South action, but nothing from north. Thank you for your work!

    • @HoH
      @HoH  2 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      There was barely any northern involvement at this time. "The Swedes were brave once, but their time is past" one Russian general said during this war.

    • @yassineme87
      @yassineme87 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Very little action on the Swedish side indeed: the government in power declared war on Frederic because his sister, wife of the king of Sweden, pushed her husband to take over the reins of power. But most of the officers, out of gallantry for their sovereign, limply led their troops into battle.

      In Canada all we teach about the Seven Years War is the British-French battles fought in the new world, especially the Battle of the Plains of Abraham. So in here I guess people would the think the opposite of you like: “wait the seven years war was fought in Germany??”

    • @buffoonustroglodytus4688
      @buffoonustroglodytus4688 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sweden was plagued by widespread corruption during this time and their army was in shambles. Their involvement in this war is barely noteworthy.
      Its funny how in sweden the period after the great northern war is known as the era of freedom but sweden was involved in many pointless and disastrous wars during this time.

    Me, born in the St. Tönis, once the headquater of Prinz Ferdinand, visited the battlefield several times. There are only some landmarks, like "Hückelsmay, "Holterhöfe" or "Landwehrgraben" ( estate-defence-trench) , wich are still visual. The area once was "Heide" moor. Then in the 19th century a forest was planted, but you still see trenches and rests of the canon replacements.
    Thank you for your really good videos about the seven year war.

    The French foot in the SYW is a very interesting aspect. There are so many larger and smaller engagements in the west reflecting the old style of fighting and the superiority of British, Hanoverian and Prussian tactics over French, which is especially interesting to compare with the fightings of the WAS. Thank you for the video!

    On Sedantag a battle covered where the french were defeated is quite fitting. I really like this series and I'd really like to see more. (After the Seven Years War Iguess a good choice for a series would be the 30 yrs war to be covered as it is quite confusing). Anyways, thank you for this outstanding work

    I have a question. The french casualties were only 4000 soldiers? Because i was reading a book(Seven years war in Europe by František Stellner) and the casualties were 8000 soldiers.

    • @JeffGordon-ph4vz
      @JeffGordon-ph4vz 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah 8000 is ridiculous, maybe at Ross Bach when he routed the entire enemy army but this wasn’t even a complete defeat for the French the French army was able to retreat in good order and intact.
